Chapter 17 feelings

"Ooh my gosh I can't believe we're finally done," Leah said, waking out of the class with her hands in the sky happily. She wore a stylish crop top paired with oversized jeans, her hair tied in a sleek ponytail with a face cap resting neatly on her head. Her excitement was almost contagious, but Sylvia rolled her eyes.

" Leah, stop acting like a child,” Sylvia said, tugging Leah’s hands back down. She herself looked effortlessly stunning in a light, flowy gown that danced with the breeze.

"I'm not being childish , I can finally rest from the sleepless night study , I’ve endured just to study? I’ve burned through countless candles!” Leah cried dramatically, pretending to wipe away nonexistent tears

"Ooh please spare me that fake story what happened to the lightbulb in your room" Sylvia asked crossing her hands

"I can't read with a lightbulb on, it stresses my pretty eyes," lead said, pouting like a child. "I'm sensitive, you know.”

"Then why don't you read after school huh"

"I can't I have movies to catch up on " lead said looking down

Unbelievable,” Sylvia muttered, shaking her head as they made their way toward the school gates, hand in hand.

Leah's POV

I was so glad the exams are finally over ,I can now have quality time for myself. Walking out of the school gate holding Sylvia's hand as we walk .

"Hey" I heard the annoying voice I was hoping not to hear again after the exams.

"Well hi Jason" Sylvia greeted with a smile,

Jason. Of course. He stood there, his usual confident smirk in place, looking effortlessly cool in a plain white shirt and jeans. His hair was slightly messy, as if he’d run his fingers through it too many times

He looked at Sylvia with a smile then his gaze turned to me expecting me to say something.

"What ,why looking at me like that .expecting me to say thank you for being my tutor " I said giving him a cold stare

He did the most shocking thing I didn't expect him to do . Jason did something unexpected—he smiled. Not his usual teasing grin, but a genuine, soft smile. “I wasn’t expecting that. A simple hello would’ve been nice.”

"What are you up too Jason" I said looking a him in the eye

He chuckle "can i down you lady's" he ask

I didn't trust the way he was acting nicely , I mean we normally always have little fight or tease each other anytime we talked but now his acting calm more like a GENTLEMAN , I gasp No way

Sylvia sensing the tens moment within us ,clear her throat "yes we will love that " she replied

No, no, no,” I quickly interjected, causing both of them to look at me in confusion. “I already called my driver.”

Why I'm i smiling ?? How is he affecting me like this?

"You did ??" Sylvia asks. She knows me very well I won't let my driver pick me from school prefer walking with her of taking the taxes like normal students do, it's quite fun

"Yes I DID" I stress the words looking at her

I didn't know why I felt bad but when I turn to look at Jason I saw hurt in his eyes , was I being rude to him, but why was I denying to go with him , maybe because he makes me nervous today , he isn't acting like his normal self, the usually Jason won't offer me a ride or act charming today.

I glanced at him, guilt creeping in. Maybe I was being too harsh. “Fine,” I sighed. “You can give us a ride.”

"Wow really " he said excited

"Yes let's go before I change my mind"

......

Reaching the school's parking lot I was about to open the door when Jason beat me to it, opening it for both me and Sylvia.

I was a little amazed but chose to stay quiet .I sat in front while Sylvia sat at the back.

The drive was silent although "what are your plans for the summer" Jason asked

"We don't have any plans yet, but we will make a to-do list for the Summer ,right Sylvia?" I said smiling

"Well we will talk about that when we get home" Sylvia said with a little sadness in voice

Something about her voice seemed off, but I didn’t press her.

"Hey , Jason can you drop me off by here" Sylvia said making my eyes widen wait is she going to live me alone with him

"What, why!" I ask her

"Leah mom texted me to stop by the restaurant, " Sylvia said, showing me her phone.

"Ooh okay" we said our goodbyes and she left.

The awkward moment between me and Jason was frustrating . I saw him make the left turn inside of the right .

"Hey , you took the wrong turn my house is the right" I said

He chuckle "I didn't take the wrong turn Leah, I making you to the park "

I knew he was up to something" why if I may ask"

"Want to show you something" He said

I wanted to scold him for taking me to the park and not home, but at the same time I'm curious what he wanted to show me

....

We arrived at the park , but it didn't seem like the park. It was quieter than usual .

When we arrived, I stepped out of the car and froze. In front of me was a breathtaking field covered in golden-yellow flowers, stretching as far as the eye could see.

"You like it" Jason stood behind me

"Yes it beautiful, never knew this place was part of the park" I said

It’s not exactly public. My mom owns this field. She loves flowers,” he explained.

"Are we just here to stare at flowers really" I said knowing he won't bring me here just to see flowers

"You're right , I wanted to have a little picnic" he said going to the car bout .I helped him set the mat and the food. Together, we set up a blanket and some food. I was surprised when he handed me a sketchbook and a set of colored pencils.

“I figured you might want to draw,” he said casually, sitting down.

I hesitated, then took the sketchbook. “Thanks.”

We spent the next hour in comfortable silence—him eating, me sketching the field.

We sat there enjoying the view , he was eating while I was drawing the field

I won't lie it was amazing ,

"Jason why are you doing all of this , you being like a gentleman and this panic" I asked looking at him straight in his eyes

He chuckle"well , let's just say I wanted to spent time with you before we both go on our summer break"

I stared at him, trying to gauge his intentions. “Jason... you’re not falling for me, are you?”

"What if I am" his tone serious

"What!!!!"

"Just kidding ,so serious. Your just my friend nothing more" he said

I don't know why I felt relieved after he said that , maybe I'm just thinking too much , Jason is a great guy after all ,I'm just letting silly thoughts into my head

As the sun began to set, we packed up and headed back to the car.

“Thanks for today,” I said as he dropped me off at my house.

“Anytime,” he replied, smiling. “I’ll miss you this summer.”

I handed him the sketch I’d made of the field. “Here. Something to remember me by.”

His smile widened as he took it. “Thanks, Leah. See you around.”

I walk in to the house and the quiet surrounding hit me, great no one is home

Alone in the boring mansion , it gets lonely even the works don't do anything fun here

When I want to help them clean they don't let me.

I went to my room and decided to call Sylvia to start planning for our summer

"Hey ready to plan our to do list" I ask

Her voice was hesitant. “Leah... we have a problem.”

“What is it?”

“We won’t be spending the summer together.”

“What?!”
