Minhyuk fell asleep and began to dream. "You have passed everything, you will return forever," the voice echoed in his dream. He felt as if he were sinking into the real world, but then he started swimming towards the bright white light. Suddenly, he woke up, finding himself in a familiar band room.
He quickly got up and left the room. Indeed, he was back in 2025.
But something felt off—there seemed to be no change. Then, his phone suddenly received a notification. It was a message from a girl, who turned out to be his girlfriend. Minhyuk was shocked when he saw the message, and when he looked at the photos in his gallery, he realized that the girl was someone he had met twice before, and they went to the same school.
Just then, a young man, who turned out to be Sangwoo, ran toward him and pulled Minhyuk along. Minhyuk was startled and asked, "What's going on?"
Sangwoo cut him off, saying, "Do you have time to ask? We are performing at the festival today!!"
Minhyuk was confused, but Sangwoo quickly pulled him onto his motorcycle.
When they arrived, Minhyuk quickly changed into his performance outfit. The four of them—Minhyuk, Sangwoo, Taehyun, and Joonseok—were about to take the stage. Minhyuk was going to be the guitarist, but also the lead vocalist, a role that surprised him since he had never expected to perform in this capacity.
As they stood backstage, ready to perform, Minhyuk's mind raced. But just as they were about to step onto the stage, Minhyuk looked out into the audience and noticed a familiar face.
"Whoa," Minhyuk exclaimed in awe. "Director Choi is here too?"
Joonseok, standing beside him, responded nonchalantly, "Of course, he wants to watch you perform."
Minhyuk froze, his mind going blank. "Huh? Why?"
Taehyun, already tuning his instrument, glanced over at Minhyuk and shook his head. "You're so weird, Minhyuk. Come on, get ready. Director Choi and your mom are watching you. You need to give it your best performance."
Minhyuk stood there for a moment, stunned. His head was spinning. Why was Director Choi watching him? What did this mean? Was there more to this than just a performance?
Before he could gather his thoughts, the voice of the MC boomed over the speakers. "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the next performance!"
From the distance, Chae Min, who was in the crowd, spoke to Seo Yura, who was sitting next to him. "Choi Hyunwoo's son is very talented," he said, his voice filled with admiration.
Seo Yura smiled, her eyes filled with pride. "Yes, he really is."
Minhyuk felt a surge of emotion as he stepped onto the stage, still trying to process everything happening around him. His guitar was in hand, his heart racing, and as he gazed into the audience, he could see not only Director Choi but also his mother among the crowd, both of them waiting for him to shine.
The performance was electric, the crowd's energy infectious. As Minhyuk strummed the guitar and sang, he could feel the music flowing through him, every note, every word carrying his emotions. The cheers from the audience seemed endless, a powerful wave of support that enveloped him as he gave his all on stage.
With each passing moment, Minhyuk's nerves began to melt away, replaced by an overwhelming sense of connection with the crowd. The cheers grew louder, the applause deafening as they finished the set. Minhyuk's heart pounded in his chest as he took in the sight of the crowd's adoration.
The lights dimmed, but the energy from the crowd lingered. The sound of cheers and claps echoed in his ears. He breathed a deep sigh of relief, feeling the weight lift off his shoulders. He had done it. He had performed with everything he had.
After the performance, Minhyuk stepped off the stage, still processing everything that had just happened. The moment felt surreal, and yet, a part of him felt like it was something he had been preparing for all along.
Then, out of nowhere, Seo Yura appeared before him. She moved towards him quickly, wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug. Minhyuk stood frozen for a moment, still trying to collect his thoughts.
"You were amazing," Yura whispered, her voice filled with pride.
Minhyuk stood there, his mind still a whirl of confusion and questions. He had just performed in front of so many people, and yet, it felt like everything had shifted. His heart was still racing, and he was caught between what had just happened and the mysteries that still hung over him.
Just then, Choi Hyunwoo walked up to him, a smile on his face as he gently placed a hand on Minhyuk's shoulder. "Kid, you were great," he said, his voice warm and encouraging.
Minhyuk blinked, still processing the fact that he was standing in front of the man who had been part of his life for so long. The praise felt real, but there was something deeper in the way Hyunwoo said it, a connection he wasn't sure how to fully understand.
Minhyuk fell silent, his gaze moving across the crowd. His eyes caught sight of a man—Chae Min—standing at the edge of the gathering, his gaze focused on him. But as Minhyuk looked around, something else caught his attention—a child standing nearby. Minhyuk squinted, his heart skipping a beat as he recognized the child's face.
It was his younger sibling.
"Who... who is that?" Minhyuk asked quietly, pointing to the child, still in shock.
Seo Yura looked at him with understanding in her eyes. "That's your younger sibling. You didn't know?"
Minhyuk's breath caught in his throat. He had so many questions, but one stood out more than the others. "Where are Aunt and Uncle?" he asked, his voice betraying the mix of confusion and longing he felt.
Yura's face softened as she gently placed a hand on his arm. "They're here, but they're keeping a low profile right now."
Minhyuk nodded, but his thoughts raced. He had so many things to sort through, so many pieces of the puzzle that still didn't fit. Yet, one thing was certain: he had a family, both the one he had always known and a new connection that was unfolding before his eyes.
Minhyuk walked towards his aunt and uncle, his heart pounding with a mix of emotions. Without thinking, he rushed forward and pulled them into a tight hug. It was a moment of pure, unfiltered affection, and yet it felt oddly familiar.
His aunt and uncle stood frozen for a moment, clearly taken aback by his sudden embrace. They exchanged a quick glance, both puzzled by the intensity of Minhyuk's reaction.
Before they could say anything, Minhyuk pulled back, his mischievous smile lighting up his face. His usual playful, mischievous side seemed to resurface, as though they were all the best of friends who had known each other for years.
"Well, you two look the same as always!" Minhyuk joked, his voice filled with a lighthearted tone that seemed out of place given the emotional nature of the moment. "No changes, huh?"
His aunt and uncle blinked, still trying to process the situation. "Minhyuk..." his aunt said, clearly confused. "What's going on? Why are you acting like this?"
Minhyuk just chuckled, his usual playful nature coming to the forefront. "What? Don't tell me you've forgotten about me already?"
His aunt and uncle exchanged bewildered looks. They couldn't quite place what had just happened or what had caused Minhyuk to act so familiarly with them, but they could sense that something had shifted in him.
Minhyuk, however, didn't wait for them to say anything more. With a grin still on his face, he turned away to rejoin the others, leaving his aunt and uncle in a state of confused wonder.
Minhyuk drove home in a luxurious car, the sound of the engine purring beneath him. As he glanced out of the window, the familiar sights of the city passed by, but something felt different—his mind was racing, and he couldn't help but ask himself, What is going on?
He stared at the steering wheel for a moment, his hands gripping it tightly, as if searching for answers in the mechanical hum of the car. His thoughts were clouded with confusion. This life, this moment—everything felt so familiar, yet surreal at the same time.
Why am I here? he wondered. How did I end up with all this?
The luxury of the car, the people around him, the strange sense of déjà vu—it all felt like a puzzle he couldn't solve. He had questions, so many of them.
Is this real? Or am I still dreaming?
As he pulled into his driveway, Minhyuk couldn't shake the feeling that something bigger was at play. He had no answers, but the questions lingered, growing heavier with each passing moment. He stepped out of the car, looking up at the house before him, unsure of what awaited him inside.
Minhyuk walked into the luxurious house, his footsteps echoing in the grand hallway. Everything seemed so extravagant—the marble floors, the high ceilings, the polished furniture—but his mind was still in a fog. He casually looked around as if it was all perfectly normal. He felt detached, like a visitor in his own life.
With a nonchalant expression, he turned to the housekeeper, who had been standing nearby. "Where's my room?" he asked casually, as if it was the most natural question to ask.
The housekeeper, clearly caught off guard by his relaxed tone, blinked in confusion. She wasn't sure how to respond. Was this a joke? she thought. The young man standing before her looked confident and composed, but something about his casual demeanor made her uneasy.
After a moment of hesitation, she quickly gathered her thoughts. "I-I'm sorry, sir," she stammered, still unsure of how to address him. "Your room... It's on the second floor, down the hallway, the third door on your left."
Minhyuk nodded, seemingly satisfied with the answer, and casually made his way toward the staircase. The housekeeper watched him go, still confused by the encounter. Was this really the same young man she had been taking care of? Something didn't add up.
As Minhyuk ascended the stairs, he couldn't help but feel like he was a character in someone else's story. The house, the luxury—it all felt like an illusion, a world he didn't quite belong in. But for now, he had to play along.
That night, as Minhyuk finished showering and shampooing his hair, his phone suddenly rang. He picked it up, still a little confused from the strange events of the day. The voice on the other end was a girl's voice, soft but familiar. It was his girlfriend. He couldn't quite remember making any plans, and the sudden call only added to his confusion.
"Hello?" Minhyuk said, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
"Minhyuk, it's me," the voice on the other end said, and he felt a pang of familiarity in her words. "Are you coming?"
Minhyuk frowned, trying to piece together his thoughts. "We... we had plans?" he asked, his confusion evident.
After a brief silence, the girl on the other end of the line responded, "Yes, you promised me, remember? I'm waiting for you."
Minhyuk's mind raced. He couldn't recall any such promise, but something about her voice felt so real, so close. Still unsure, he agreed to meet her.
Once he arrived at the designated place, Minhyuk scanned the area, looking for her. After walking around for a few minutes, he finally spotted a figure in the distance. It was her—his girlfriend.
He approached her, his steps slow and deliberate. When he reached her, he stopped and looked at her with a questioning expression.
"Who are you?" he asked, his voice cautious.
The girl stared at him for a moment, her eyes studying him. Then, she broke into a smile, her features softening.
"I'm..." she began, her smile widening as she took a step closer. "I'm Hae Rin."
Minhyuk stood frozen for a moment, still processing the situation. The name sounded familiar, but his mind was too clouded with confusion to make sense of it. How could she be someone he knew, yet feel so distant?
He stared at her, waiting for more, as a thousand thoughts raced through his mind.
Minhyuk stood there, still trying to process the information. He looked at Hae Rin with a mix of curiosity and confusion, unaware of the significance of her name. Her smile, though warm, only added to the mystery of the situation.
As he stared at her, she seemed to sense his confusion. She took a step closer, her eyes softening. "You look surprised, Minhyuk," she said, almost as if she had expected this reaction. "Did you really not know?"
Minhyuk furrowed his brows. "Know what?" he asked, the confusion deepening in his voice.
Hae Rin looked at him for a moment before speaking slowly, as if trying to gauge how to tell him. "I'm... I'm Chaemin's daughter," she said, her voice quiet but clear.
Minhyuk's eyes widened. He had no idea. He stood frozen, trying to process her words. Chaemin? His mind flashed to the images of Chaemin he had seen over the past few days—those moments that didn't quite add up, the strange connections he couldn't understand. But he never thought Chaemin had a daughter.
"Wait, Chaemin is your father?" Minhyuk asked, still trying to grasp what was being said.
Hae Rin nodded slowly. "Yes, Chaemin is my father. I know it's a lot to take in, but... I had to tell you."
Minhyuk swallowed, trying to understand. "I didn't know," he murmured, his voice shaky.
Hae Rin gave him a soft smile. "I know. And I didn't want to tell you like this, but I think it's time for you to know the truth."
Minhyuk stood frozen, trying to absorb this new information. He had been so caught up in everything else that the idea of Chaemin being a father to someone had never crossed his mind. Now, the puzzle pieces of his life seemed even more complicated, and he didn't know how this revelation would change things moving forward.
"Why didn't you tell me before?" Minhyuk finally asked, his voice full of uncertainty.
"I wasn't sure how to tell you," Hae Rin replied. "But I think you have a right to know. We're all part of this bigger picture, and it's time for you to see it clearly."
Minhyuk stood there, feeling overwhelmed, but also strangely relieved to finally get some answers. This new revelation about Hae Rin, Chaemin, and everything that had been happening was only the beginning, and Minhyuk knew that the truth was still out there waiting for him to uncover it..
