CHAPTER 38

At that moment Valentina's expression remained unreadable, but deep down, a slow, simmering anger was brewing inside her. She knew. She had known all along that Victoria was behind this. The sudden arrest, the humiliation, the petty revenge—it all reeked of her.

Yet, she refused to give Victoria the satisfaction of a reaction.

Victoria, however, was thriving off the moment, her voice sharp and triumphant as she continued, "I told you, Valentina, I warned you! But you just had to act all high and mighty, didn't you?"

At that moment her eyes gleamed with cruelty, her lips curling into a mocking smirk.

"Now look at you." She gestured toward Valentina's restrained form. "Caught. Helpless. Powerless."

She tilted her head slightly, pretending to ponder, then let out a dramatic sigh.

"I hope you've learned your lesson. Maybe next time, you'll know better than to challenge me."
