Rioji fixed him with a piercing gaze. "The Wolf Ritual. A secret trial that only a few survive. It's your only chance to join the White Wolves alongside the other candidates."
"The White Wolves? Is this my chance to join one of the divisions?" Kyro asked incredulously.
Rioji nodded slowly. "Exactly. But let me make one thing clear: This is no simple test. It's a series of brutal trials that will push you to your limits in combat, strategy, and knowledge. There's no room for weakness. Those who fail are out. Forever."
"And if I succeed? What happens then?" Kyro whispered.
Rioji looked at Kyro with a hint of pride. "If you succeed, you'll be evaluated by the division commanders. The better your performance, the higher your chances of being accepted into a strong division. But the competition is fierce."
"Who are the other participants?" Kyro asked, frowning.
Rioji scoffed. "There are ten candidates in total, including you. And let me tell you now: At least three of them are absolute monsters—naturals who will make your life hell. One of them is even training with Echo, one of the best fighters in the First Division. And he's your age."
Kyro felt a cold shiver run down his spine. "Why didn't you tell me this earlier?" he asked, his voice serious.
Rioji shrugged. "Because you weren't ready. I wouldn't have wasted my time on you if you hadn't mastered Shodan. But now that you have, you're officially part of the ritual."
"And what happens to those who perform poorly?" Kyro asked quietly.
Rioji smiled dangerously. "They're out. There are no second chances. The Wolf Ritual is all or nothing. And it's strictly secret. No one outside the White Wolves can know about it."
Kyro's heart began to race. "So… when does it start?" he asked, determination in his voice.
Rioji turned and walked away. "Tomorrow. Get some rest, Kyro. You'll need every ounce of strength."
