Chapter 264: Asuma's New Jutsu
Given Danzo's current physical condition, he could no longer engage in combat himself. Therefore, the "small task" of snatching a Byakugan had to be delegated to his subordinates.
This was akin to when he dispatched Yamato to assassinate the Third Hokage years ago. As a leader, it was a case of "nurturing troops for a thousand days to use them for a single moment." He didn't need to consider the mission's difficulty; the task was assigned, so they had to execute it! He, the old man, would only take the blame. Would the mission succeed? Who knew!
Ino had been spending a lot of time with Hinata and Hanabi these past few days.
Hinata often made porridge at home and brought it to the training grounds for Ino. From time to time, she would also check Ino's physical condition, seeing if her eyesight was damaged or if there were any kidney problems.
Ino had been drinking it for half a month, and she had to admit, Hinata's porridge-making skills were far superior to her Gentle Fist.
She felt her body really enjoyed these porridges; her cells became very active. She went from initial resistance to genuinely enjoying it, getting used to it in no time.
Anyway, there was no harm in drinking more, so she continued.
Shizune and Hinata jointly requested – "hoped" – that she suspend her shadow clone training for a while. Seeing their serious expressions, Ino figured this "hope" was tantamount to an "order." Recently, she hadn't used shadow clones for training. To be honest, who wouldn't be tired from training like that? Even Naruto found it tiring. Being able to rest for a couple of days, she naturally took the opportunity.
Hinata would frequently use the pretext of delivering food, dishes, or scarves to supervise her and prevent her from overtraining.
The weather had been pleasant these past few days, so she invited the Hinata sisters to the Sarutobi residence to hang out with Asuma.
Many acquaintances had gathered at the Sarutobi residence: Kakashi, Anko, Kurenai, Shikamaru, Choji, Konohamaru, Udon, Moegi, and a host of others were present.
Hanabi and Konohamaru knew each other from the Ninja Academy, and the rest were all very familiar. Hinata wasn't surprised to see her supervising sensei at the Sarutobi residence and even exchanged a few quiet words with Kurenai.
Their voices were too low. Ino pricked up her ears but only managed to catch a few phrases like "Is sensei going to change her surname?"
Kurenai, blushing, gently patted Hinata's shoulder: "Hinata, you're a grown girl now, daring to joke with your sensei like that!"
Hinata was also surprised. Right, what's gotten into me? She used to be too shy to discuss such topics related to romantic relationships; she would blush just thinking about them. Had her skin thickened without her realizing it?
"Ino, come try this out!" Asuma called out from afar, then quickly formed hand seals.
Brother Asuma's relationship with Kurenai had made huge progress recently. His life and career had reached their peak. Somehow, he had managed to develop a new Fire Release ninjutsu.
It was said he even planned to pass this Fire Release ninjutsu down as a family heirloom, to be taught to his future son or daughter.
The name of this jutsu was a bit strange: "Fire Release: Flint Yagura!"
Why on earth would you attack Yagura? Ino worried there might be some strange grudges involved, so she didn't dare to say or ask anything.
It was odd to say, but the ninja in Konoha were either proficient in Wind Release or Water Release, or like Kakashi, skilled in Lightning Release. There were actually very few who used Fire Release. Apart from Jiraiya, the Fifth Hokage, Asuma was the best among the rest at using Fire Release.
His Fire Release was quite powerful. To test the ninjutsu's attack power on site, only Ino could assist.
Kakashi could also use Water Release, and quite well at that, but his "mana" was too low. At this moment, he was only responsible for talking; all the work of taking hits was left to Ino.
Ino had absorbed the essence of the Second Hokage's and Second Mizukage's ninjutsu. Her Water Release ninjutsu was now renowned throughout the ninja world.
From drinking porridge every day recently, one day she suddenly discovered that her Water Release had reached Lv5! She hadn't added any points to Water Release; it was entirely due to her and her shadow clones performing thousands of Water Release ninjutsu to train it up.
Her Earth Release was also Lv5, but many Water Release ninjutsu were smoother to use. Now she could sacrifice some power to perform advanced Water Release ninjutsu with single-handed seals, which wasn't possible with Earth Release.
After Asuma completed his hand seals, she formed two seals with her left hand and directly released a B-rank ninjutsu.
"Water Release: Water Formation Wall!"
The "Flint Yagura" resembled a giant of flames and crashed directly into the "Water Formation Wall," neutralizing each other.
Asuma thought for a moment: "Again!"
"Alright!"
Many people present had Fire Release chakra nature transformations. Asuma was a standard Fire and Wind dual-attribute user. Kakashi possessed all seven attributes. Ino had six chakra attributes, excluding Lightning.
Shikamaru, Choji, and Hinata also had Fire Release chakra affinity, but only Shikamaru had developed this attribute. The other two... the other two were more skilled in cooking.
Konohamaru also possessed the Fire attribute inherited from the Sarutobi clan, but he was still far from being able to participate in discussions about ninjutsu.
Only Kakashi and Ino on site could offer some suggestions for Asuma's "Fire Release: Flint Yagura."
And they were just suggestions; neither of them used Fire Release as well as Asuma.
Chakra attributes were largely a matter of body memory. Once the body became accustomed to one chakra attribute, it was difficult to use another.
There was no such thing as learning by analogy here. For example, if my Water Release is Lv5, and I practice Fire Release for a few days, will my Fire Release also reach Lv5? Impossible! The more prominent one attribute was, the harder it was for other attributes to catch up. If your body was familiar with Water Release, and you insisted on using Fire Release, it would take several times the effort.
Only one person was exceptionally skilled in all five attributes: the Third Hokage.
"Let's try the defense of this move again. Ino, attack me!" Asuma's "Flint Yagura" incorporated both attack and defense, somewhat resembling a Fire-attribute Susanoo.
"Rasengan!" Ino condensed a chakra vortex in her right hand and slammed it into the chest of the flame giant.
After using the Rasengan, she reflexively turned her head to look to her left.
Kakashi's Sharingan was spinning rapidly there.
Ino: "..."
Isn't it inappropriate for you to be freeloading like this every day?
"Haha, haha, I'm so sorry... It's a habit, a habit." Kakashi quickly raised his hands in apology.
Ino thought for a moment, then smiled slyly: "Kakashi-sensei, let's see if you can copy this move. Giant Rasengan!"
Kakashi was dumbfounded by this move. The Giant Rasengan wasn't complex, and the Sharingan could completely copy it, but he couldn't use it because he didn't have enough chakra!
While they were practicing and researching ninjutsu, Hinata and Choji were preparing lunch for everyone. Shikamaru was sleeping nearby, and the children were gathered together, whispering.
"Ino-neechan is the best!" Moegi Kazamatsuri's family was considered a branch of the Senju clan. Her relationship with Ino had always been good, and after Ino became Tsunade's apprentice, their bond was closer than family.
Hanabi was very dissatisfied: "She's clearly my sister! Ino-neechan likes me the most!"
"Ino-neechan likes me!"
"Nonsense, it's me!"
They argued amongst themselves, leaving Konohamaru and Udon dizzy and unsure who to support.
