As we drove in silence, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. I was still trying to process what had just happened between us. The kiss, the touch, the sensations that had coursed through my body. It was like my body had betrayed me, responding to Chris's touch despite my mind's protests.
I glanced over at Chris, who was focused on the road ahead. His expression was calm, but I could sense a hint of smugness beneath the surface. He knew he had gotten to me, that he had awakened a part of me that I thought was long dead.
I looked away, trying to compose myself. I couldn't let him get to me like this. I had to remember who he was, what he was capable of. But as I glanced back at him, I saw the way the dim light of the dashboard highlighted his features, the way his eyes seemed to gleam with an inner intensity.
We drove for a while longer, the silence between us growing thicker and more oppressive. I could feel the tension building, the air thickening with unspoken words and unresolved emotions.
Finally, Chris spoke up, his voice low and smooth. "We're here," he said, nodding towards a sleek, modern building that loomed ahead of us.
I followed his gaze, my curiosity piqued. "Where is here?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Chris smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "My place," he said, his voice dripping with possessiveness. "You're going to stay with me for the night."
My eyes narrowed in protest. "No, I won't," I said, trying to sound firm.
But Chris's expression turned cold, his eyes flashing with warning. "It wasn't a question, darling," he said calmly, pulling out his phone. "I can just call her now and get this over with."
I felt a surge of fear at the thought of him calling Sarah, of him revealing our secrets to her. I pursed my lips, trying to think of a way to get out of this situation.
Chris pulled up to the building and killed the engine. He got out of the car and came around to my side, opening the door for me. He extended his hand, helping me out of the car, and I took it reluctantly.
As I stood up, I glared at him. "Asshole," I muttered under my breath.
Chris's eyes crinkled in amusement. "Never said I wasn't," he replied, his smile smug and self-satisfied.
I rolled my eyes, trying to hide the fear and uncertainty that was growing inside me. What had I gotten myself into? And how was I going to get out of it?
