800 Years Ago: The Age of the Great Kingdom

Long before the World Government came into power, the seas were dominated by the Great Kingdom, a sprawling civilization that united all races—humans, Fish-Men, Giants, Lunarians, and even Mink tribes. This kingdom was known for its prosperity, technological marvels, and, most importantly, its ideology: freedom for all.

The Great Kingdom's ideals were embodied by its leader, the enigmatic Joy Boy. Charismatic, wise, and powerful, Joy Boy was not a king in the traditional sense. He believed in a world where no one ruled over another, where freedom reigned supreme. His laughter and optimism inspired loyalty, and his dream of a united world sparked hope across the seas.

But not everyone shared his vision.

A coalition of 20 powerful kingdoms saw Joy Boy's ideology as a threat to their authority. They viewed his dream of freedom as dangerous chaos. These kingdoms, led by a cunning and ambitious ruler named Imulia (later Imu), conspired to overthrow the Great Kingdom.

The Birth of the Void Century

The coalition waged war against the Great Kingdom, marking the beginning of what would later be called the Void Century.

Joy Boy and his allies resisted fiercely, using their advanced technology and the mysterious power of the Ancient Weapons—Poseidon, Pluton, and Uranus. These weapons, capable of reshaping the seas, were both a blessing and a curse. Joy Boy used them sparingly, believing they were too dangerous to wield recklessly.

As the war raged, Imulia uncovered a forbidden power hidden deep beneath the earth: the Celestial Devil Fruit. This fruit granted her the ability to manipulate the very fabric of reality—controlling life, time, and even the flow of memories. With this power, she became nearly invincible.

Imulia rebranded herself as Imu, declaring herself the rightful ruler of the world. She united the 20 kingdoms into a single force, the foundation of what would become the World Government. Together, they created the Celestial Dragons, a ruling class that placed themselves above all others.

In the final days of the war, Joy Boy discovered that Imu planned to use the Ancient Weapons to annihilate entire islands, erasing the history of the Great Kingdom. Desperate to stop her, he forged a plan.

The Prophecy and the Poneglyphs

Joy Boy, knowing he could not defeat Imu directly, entrusted his allies to hide the truth. He and the scholars of the Great Kingdom inscribed the story of their civilization onto indestructible Poneglyphs, scattering them across the seas. Each Poneglyph contained a piece of the puzzle, leading to the ultimate truth hidden on Laugh Tale.

He also made a pact with Poseidon, the ruler of the sea kings, and left a message for her descendants. This was the promise of a future where the seas would unite once again.

In the final battle, Joy Boy and Imu clashed atop Laugh Tale. Joy Boy wielded the legendary sword now in Zoro's possession, a blade infused with the will of the sea. Though Joy Boy was unmatched in strength, Imu's devil fruit powers overwhelmed him.

With his dying breath, Joy Boy activated a secret mechanism, sealing the location of the One Piece—a treasure that would awaken the world to the truth of the Void Century. He left behind a prophecy that one day, someone with the will of D. would rise to finish what he started.

Imu, victorious but furious, destroyed the Great Kingdom, erasing it from history. The coalition of kingdoms rewrote history itself, ensuring that no one would know the truth of the Void Century. They established the World Government, creating the Empty Throne as a symbol of equality between nations—though in reality, Imu ruled from the shadows.

Return to the Present

The vision faded, and the Straw Hats found themselves back on Laugh Tale. The echoes of the past lingered in the air.

Robin, tears streaming down her face, whispered, "So this is the truth... The Great Kingdom, Joy Boy, the Ancient Weapons... Everything the World Government has hidden for 800 years."

Nami's fists trembled with rage. "They erased an entire civilization just to keep their power?!"

Luffy stood silent, his crimson eyes locked on Imu. The weight of history bore down on him, but his resolve burned brighter than ever.

Imu's cold laughter broke the silence. "Now you see, little pirates, why your dream is nothing more than a fleeting illusion. You cannot defeat me. You cannot defy the will of the gods."
