Several months had passed since Raven first met Kurenai, and in that time, the two had kept in close contact. Raven often spoke passionately about the revolution she envisioned—how, as women and kunoichi, they needed to rise above the traditions of the ninja world that relegated them to stand beneath men. Her words carried conviction, planting seeds of change in Kurenai's mind.
Now, a little over half a year since those fateful events, Raven was preparing for her most ambitious move yet since her rebirth. Her grandmother, Mito Uzumaki, had left behind a vast Uzumaki inheritance hidden within the Senju compound. She had entrusted it to Kushina, but in her past life, circumstances had robbed her of the chance to claim it. This time, however, things would be different.
The night of destiny was fast approaching—the night of the Nine-Tails' attack on Konoha. Raven knew that amidst the chaos and devastation, her opportunity would finally come. This time, she would seize what was rightfully hers.
The dim glow of chakra seals illuminated the cavernous space beneath the Crusty Kunai. Raven sat cross-legged in the center of her training ground, her Rinnegan glowing faintly as she manipulated her Lifebreaker Chakra Chains. The golden-green chains danced around her, weaving through the air like serpents, their power imbued with the vitality of Nature Chakra. She practiced threading the chains through mock targets made from her puppets, adjusting their speed and force with precision.
"Not bad," Yuumi said, perched lazily atop a pizza oven. Her nine tails swished slowly, her blue eyes gleaming with amusement. "You've got the finesse down. Now if only you could make them fold a pizza box while you're at it."
Raven smirked, snapping one of the chains toward a boulder. It wrapped around the heavy rock and hoisted it effortlessly into the air. "I'm thinking bigger than pizza boxes, Yuumi. How about chains that can move an entire ramen oven?"
"Careful," Yuumi teased. "If your mom finds out you're thinking about the enemy's ovens, she'll disown you."
"Good thing she doesn't know," Raven shot back, grinning. "Now stop distracting me. I've got work to do."
Raven let the chains dissolve into glowing embers, exhaling softly. She stood, brushing dust off her hands as she moved to the table where a map of Konoha was spread out. Her puppets scurried around her, one holding a quill pen while another unfurled a scroll. The map detailed the layout of the Senju compound, with key points marked in red ink.
"So, what's the plan, little fox?" Yuumi asked, hopping down to sit beside her.
Raven tapped the map with her finger. "The Uzumaki inheritance. Grandma Mito hid it somewhere in the Senju compound, under layers of seals only an Uzumaki can unlock. It's going to take precision and timing to get in and out without anyone noticing."
Yuumi's ears twitched. "And by 'anyone,' you mean the Root and Anbu operatives crawling all over that place."
"Exactly," Raven said. "Danzo's got them watching every inch of the compound. He must think there's something valuable there—probably hoping to dig up scraps of the First Hokage's legacy."
Yuumi tilted her head. "Do you think he knows about Mito's stash?"
"Doubt it," Raven replied. "If he did, he'd have torn the place apart by now. But I'm not taking any chances."
Later that evening, Raven crouched in the shadows of a tall tree overlooking the Senju compound. Her puppets moved silently through the perimeter, their small frames slipping unnoticed between the patrols of masked Anbu and Root operatives. Each puppet was equipped with specialized tools—some carried tiny recording seals, while others had built-in genjutsu triggers to confuse and misdirect any Root or Anbu from noticing the strangeness of her puppets.
Through her Rinnegan, Raven viewed the compound from multiple angles, her vision synchronized with her puppets. The compound was vast but eerily quiet, its once-grand buildings now faded with time. At the center of the compound stood a shrine, its structure simple yet elegant, with weathered stone steps leading up to a pedestal.
"There," Raven whispered. "That has to be the entrance."
Yuumi's voice echoed in her mind. "It's got Mito's flair all over it. I'm guessing the real prize is below."
Raven nodded, watching as one of her puppets approached the shrine. It placed a tiny seal on the pedestal, feeding her chakra through the connection to test the barriers. Her Rinnegan picked up a faint glow—an intricate web of Uzumaki seals radiating from the base of the shrine.
"It's heavily protected," Raven muttered. "Figures. Grandma never did anything halfway."
Yuumi chuckled. "You Uzumaki are stubborn like that."
Back in her training ground, Raven spread out the recordings her puppets had gathered, projecting the patterns of the shrine's seals onto the wall. She studied them intently, her fingers tracing the glowing lines.
"These are layered seals," she murmured. "One to block entry, one to confuse intruders, and another to activate a failsafe if the others are broken."
"So, no walking in and grabbing the goods," Yuumi said, lounging nearby. "What's the plan?"
Raven smirked. "We work smarter, not harder."
Using her puppets, Raven began recreating the seals in miniature on practice scrolls. She experimented with different chakra inputs, testing how the seals reacted to various techniques. Occasionally, a scroll would explode in a puff of smoke, leaving her coughing and Yuumi laughing.
"Well, that didn't work," Yuumi teased.
"Trial and error," Raven said, waving away the smoke. "You know, Grandma would've loved this. She was always about creative problem-solving and blowing things up it matched her fiery personality."
Yuumi's expression softened. "She'd be proud of you, little fox. But don't get sentimental—focus."
Raven stood at the center of her training ground, her Lifebreaker Chakra Chains glowing brightly as she worked on precision control. She directed the chains to weave through mock barriers, simulating the layers of seals protecting the inheritance. Each motion was deliberate, every flick of her wrist calculated.
"You've got the finesse," Yuumi said, watching intently. "But what about speed? You're not going to have all day to unlock those seals with Root breathing down your neck."
Raven nodded, pushing herself harder. She summoned additional chains, guiding them to wrap around the mock barriers while maintaining control over her puppets. Sweat dripped down her brow, but she didn't stop.
"You're getting there," Yuumi said with a small smile. "But remember, strength isn't just about power—it's about adaptability."
Raven grinned. "I thought you'd say something like that. Don't worry—I'm a fast learner."
After hours of trial and error, Raven finally cracked the outermost layer of the shrine's seals. She watched as the projection on the wall shifted, revealing a faint outline of what lay beneath.
"It's a cavern," Raven said, her voice filled with awe. "Grandma hid the inheritance underground."
Yuumi nodded. "Smart move. The deeper it is, the harder it'll be for anyone to find it—let alone steal it."
Raven traced the outline with her finger. "There's something else here... a secondary lock. It's keyed to Uzumaki blood."
"Of course it is," Yuumi said with a chuckle. "Can't have just anyone waltzing in."
"That's where I come in," Raven said, smirking. "With the Nine-Tails attack coming, the Anbu and Root will be too distracted to guard the compound. That's when I'll make my move. I'm just glad the Outsider made sure my body still has its Uzumaki blood and tenacity even if the appearance is different."
Yuumi's expression grew serious. "Just don't get cocky, little fox. This isn't a game."
"I know," Raven said softly. "But this is too important to leave behind. Grandma Mito entrusted this to the Uzumaki clan, and I'm not letting it fall into the wrong hands."
As the night deepened, Raven sat cross-legged on her bed, reviewing her plans one last time. Her puppets were ready, her chains were refined, and the seals were decoded. All that remained was to wait for the right moment.
"You've thought this through," Yuumi said, curling up beside her. "But what happens if something goes wrong?"
Raven smiled faintly. "Then I adapt. Isn't that what you always say?"
Yuumi chuckled. "You're learning. Just don't forget to eat—I'm not dealing with a cranky fox on top of everything else."
Raven laughed, reaching for a slice of leftover pizza. "Don't worry, I'm fueled up. Tomorrow, the real work begins. Besides, who is the real fox here?"
