The Land of Whirlpools was quiet as the dawn broke, its scarred and battle-worn landscapes bathed in soft light. Although the devastation of past wars was still evident in the crumbled buildings and overgrown roads, something new was beginning to emerge. The land itself seemed to hum with life, the very air richer with chakra. The World Tree, glowing faintly at the heart of the Uzumaki temple, had already begun to heal the land.
Raven stood atop a crumbled watchtower, her arms crossed as she surveyed her surroundings. The barrier she had established shimmered faintly in the distance, its layers intricate and formidable. No one would stumble into the Land of Whirlpools by accident now, and even the most determined intruders would find themselves turned away or trapped in an endless maze of illusions.
"It's not much yet," she muttered, her violet Rinnegan scanning the horizon. "But it's a start."
Yuumi, perched lazily on her shoulder, flicked one of her nine tails against Raven's cheek. "A start? You've turned this wreck into the beginnings of a fortress. Give it time, and you'll have your paradise."
Raven smirked. "Yeah, a Yuri Paradise with pizza ovens in every corner."
"Priorities," Yuumi teased, hopping down to stretch on the cracked stone floor. "So, what's next on your grand agenda, little fox? Rebuilding the clan? Recruiting wives? Or are you finally going to relax for once?"
"No time to relax," Raven said firmly. "The barrier's only the first step. I need to find survivors—Uzushio isn't just mine. I'll rebuild the clan, bring them back here. But only the ones who can contribute. Male Uzumaki can live in anchor towns outside the main barrier, where they can protect the stronghold."
"And Naruto?" Yuumi asked, her voice unusually gentle.
Raven's expression softened. "Naruto will always have a place here. But first, I need to go back to Konoha."
Yuumi flicked her ears. "Back into the lion's den already?"
"They need me," Raven said. "Whether they know it or not."
Raven returned to Konoha in the dead of night, her steps silent as she navigated the village's familiar streets. The aftermath of the Nine-Tails attack was still evident—collapsed buildings, scorched earth, and lingering fear in the air. Even in her disguise as a five-year-old, Raven could feel the weight of the villagers' sorrow.
She paused outside the Senju compound, the entrance to the shrine sealed permanently as Mito had promised. The only way back into the inheritance chamber now was through her White Empress Seal. Satisfied that no one could tamper with it, she continued deeper into the village.
The rumors started almost immediately. Whispers carried on the wind, villagers muttering about the Nine-Tails' new host.
"That baby's cursed, carrying that monster inside him."
"I heard he's in the orphanage. No one would take him in."
Raven's fists clenched, her Rinnegan flickering beneath her transformation jutsu. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to remain calm. "Danzo," she hissed under her breath. "That old vulture must be behind this. Spreading rumors to isolate Naruto—just like he does with everyone he sees as a threat."
Yuumi's voice echoed in her mind, laced with amusement. "You sound like you're ready to punch him into next week."
"Don't tempt me," Raven muttered. "He's on my list."
"Your list is getting pretty long," Yuumi teased. "What's next, turning his Root headquarters into a pizza parlor?"
"Not a bad idea," Raven said with a smirk. "But first, I need to check on Naruto."
Raven found her way to the orphanage, slipping in unnoticed as the matron fussed over the children. Her heart ached as she saw her son—a tiny bundle of energy with bright blond hair and blue eyes—laying quietly in the corner, far from the other children. He clutched a small, tattered blanket, his gaze distant but filled with determination.
"Even now, you're strong," Raven whispered, her voice trembling. She wanted to scoop him up, to tell him everything, but she knew she couldn't. Not yet.
Yuumi appeared beside her, her voice uncharacteristically soft. "You'll protect him. That's what you're here for."
Raven nodded, her resolve hardening. "No matter what."
Later that day, Raven made her way to the Uchiha district. The tension in the air was palpable, the growing divide between the Hawks and the Doves tearing the clan apart. She approached the familiar home of Mikoto Uchiha, knocking softly before stepping inside.
Mikoto greeted her with a tired smile, her usually radiant face shadowed with worry. "Raven," she said, ushering her inside. "It's good to see you."
"You look like you could use a break," Raven said, her tone light but her eyes sharp. "What's going on?"
Mikoto sighed, sitting down at the low table in the center of the room. "It's Fugaku. He's trying to hold the clan together, but the Hawks are relentless. They want rebellion, and Ryoga Uchiha is stirring up more trouble every day."
"And Fugaku?" Raven asked.
"He's trying to keep the peace," Mikoto said, her voice heavy. "But the village doesn't trust us, and the clan doesn't trust the village. It feels impossible."
Raven leaned forward, her expression fierce. "Nothing's impossible. You just need to be stronger than the people trying to control you."
Mikoto's eyes widened slightly. "Stronger?"
"The world respects strength, Mikoto," Raven said. "If you want to change your fate, you need to take control of it. Train harder, become stronger. If Fugaku can't protect you, then you protect yourself."
Mikoto hesitated, then nodded slowly. "Maybe you're right. But it's hard to find the time."
"Make the time," Raven said firmly. "If you don't, no one else will. As for your son's be sure to use the iron fist of discipline on them have a feeling Itachi and Sasuke will cause no end of trouble in the future."
Hearing this Mikoto's eyes turned firm with strong willpower she could not explain it but she had this vague feeling as well and perhaps Itachi's but is in need of a good beating he has been to distant lately and It made her worry.
Mikoto left Raven behind, but you could hear the distinct crys of a young Itachi Uchiha in the background.
"I know I was wrong mom please don't beat me anymore!"
As Raven left the Uchiha district, Yuumi appeared beside her, her tails flicking playfully. "You're really good at stirring the pot, you know that?"
"Someone has to," Raven said with a grin. "Besides, Mikoto needs a push. She's too smart and too strong to let herself be held back."
"And you'd know all about being held back, huh?" Yuumi teased.
"Not anymore," Raven said, her voice filled with determination. "Not ever again."
As Raven stood on top of her ex husbands head on Hokage Rock, she said.
"This place," she murmurs, "is far from perfect. But it's still worth saving."
Yuumi yawned, curling up beside her. "And you're going to do it with pizza jokes and a harem, huh?"
"Exactly," Raven said with a wink. "Now let's get to work."
