Chapter 6: The Academy’s Secrets

The air around Vanguard Academy was alive with whispers of potential. After his ordeal in the jungle, the towering spires and glittering halls of the institution seemed almost surreal. The Crystal Core—still tucked safely in his satchel—pulsed faintly, a constant reminder of its mysterious importance.

As he stepped through the academy's gates, a system notification appeared.

[Welcome to Vanguard Academy. New Objectives Assigned.]

[Primary Objective: Rise Through the Ranks.]

[Secondary Objective: Uncover the Mystery of the Crystal Core.]

He barely had time to process the message before a voice called out behind him. "Hey, newbie!"

He turned to see the silver-haired girl from before. Her uniform gleamed, adorned with insignias that marked her as someone of importance. She was flanked by two others, both of whom eyed him with curiosity.

"You made it back," she said, smirking. "I'll admit, I didn't think you'd survive your first field trial."

"Field trial?" he repeated, confused.

"The jungle temple," she said, as though it were obvious. "Everyone gets one. Most don't come back. But you… you've got potential."

He wasn't sure whether to feel flattered or alarmed.

"Come on," she said, motioning for him to follow. "Orientation's over, but I'll show you around. You're going to need allies if you want to survive here."

He hesitated but followed. The academy's interior was as impressive as its exterior. Halls lined with glowing runes stretched endlessly, each door leading to a different training facility or classroom. Students moved with purpose, their powers on display in subtle but unmistakable ways.
