"In that case, I'll take Judy with me. Elder Benson, goodbye!"
After silently using my willpower, I stood up indifferently, not sparing him another glance, and quickly walked toward the door.
A round object suddenly fell heavily to the ground with a loud thud, startling me. A gloomy aura erupted behind me. The still-burning cigar was doused by a thick liquid, the sizzling sound gradually fading into silence. The strong smell of blood filled the entire suite, sending chills down my spine.
I casually took Judy's coat from the rack by the door and walked out of the room, taking a deep breath. However, I felt no sense of relief, only an increasing heaviness in my heart—my hands were now stained with blood.
After closing the door, Judy anxiously checked my body. "Margie, are you hurt? Did he bite you? Why is there such a strong smell of blood?"
"It's fine. He's letting you go!" I reassured her with a bright smile, helping her put on her coat. "I'll take you to a safe place. Bevis is there."
"Margie... thank you!"
Seeing her on the verge of tears again, I couldn't help but laugh. "Please, Judy, don't cry. You look scarier than a ghost from a horror movie when you cry!"
We entered the elevator, and Judy, with a bitter expression, tried hard to hold back her tears. "I really didn't know my crying could be so disgusting. I can't see myself in the mirror, I'm afraid of light, no matter how much water I drink, I never feel full, and I always feel hungry, like my body is empty!" She nervously adjusted her hair. "Am I ugly? Will Bevis not want to see me?"
She tried to find her reflection in the mirror-like elevator wall, but only my clear and stunning reflection was visible.
I patted her shoulder. "Judy, relax, you're the most beautiful vampire in the world! Bevis will be completely smitten by you!"
"You're so sweet, always knowing how to cheer people up!" She suddenly hugged me but then quickly pushed me away, covering her face in confusion.
It was clear that her fangs and red eyes had appeared again.
I gently held her shoulders, cautious. "Judy, we're best friends. If you still want to be friends with me, you should be able to control your thirst for my blood, right?"
She hesitated, her voice trembling with tears. "Margie, give me some time. I'll overcome it!"
"I believe you can. Bevis, like me, is a fairy. If you keep showing your fangs like this, you'll scare him!" I warned her half-seriously.
She let out a frustrated groan...
I had truly experienced what 'ghost wailing' meant, as in the phrase 'ghosts wailing and wolves howling.'
Before the sun rose, we took a taxi to the high-end villa area in the eastern part of Paris.
Judy looked around nervously, gripping my hand. "Margie, you don't live in Avion anymore? Does Bevis live here too?"
"Yes, all my good friends are here!" I pressed the doorbell.
Catherine came running to open the door. Seeing me, she was both surprised and delighted, wearing a loose robe that clearly showed she had just woken up. "You little brat, you're still alive? Where's your baron? Ah, and this must be Miss Judy, right?"
I smiled at Judy. "Catherine is not only beautiful but also has a kind heart!" I gestured for Judy to go inside first and closed the door behind us.
Catherine, however, didn't seem to have a "kind heart" at all. Instead, she grabbed me like a wildcat. "Wait until Dene scolds you! How could you bring a vampire into the house?!"
I pushed her away sharply. "I couldn't just leave Judy behind!"
I scrutinized her men's pajamas, clearly detecting the distinct scent of my wicked cousin. I blinked and smirked, glancing at Judy, who was walking toward the living room, and whispered teasingly, "Catherine, confess. Did you just come out of Bevis's room?"
Her face instantly turned red, and she let go of me as if electrocuted. She smoothed her short black hair and glared at me. "Stop teasing me! You can be intimate with your vampire baron, but I can't have a little fun with Bevis? Besides... besides, he was the one who made the first move!" She argued fiercely, then snorted.
I looked at her playfully. "I highly doubt that. Bevis never makes the first move with women. It's always the women who go after him!"
"So what if I forced him? He enjoyed it, okay? Ugh—" Catherine turned her head away, ignoring me.
It seemed I was about to gain a sister-in-law soon, and a fiery, hot-tempered one at that.
However, she didn't seem to realize that she would soon have a vampire rival—Judy. This was going to be interesting!
As we spoke, I suddenly felt someone's gaze on me. Looking up, I saw Dene standing on the second-floor balcony. "Catherine, help Judy settle into a room to rest. Margie, come up here!"
Catherine gave me a gleeful look. "You're in for a scolding now!"
I stuck my tongue out at her and made a face.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Dene handed me a glass of warm water. "You haven't eaten yet, have you? Your stomach has been growling nonstop!"
"Yeah, I haven't eaten since yesterday. They didn't seem to have any human food there." I gave a dry laugh.
His stunningly handsome face broke into a smile. "Were you happy with him?"
"It was okay. I was always nervous, but I got used to it and stopped being afraid."
I had come expecting a lecture, so I was surprised by his sudden gentleness. The room was filled with warmth, creating an illusion of blissful contentment.
I asked uneasily, "Dene, you... you're not mad at me?"
"Why would I be mad? You completed the mission, didn't you?" He sat down beside me and pulled me into his arms. "Margie, I can feel your power growing. You need to learn to control it. The more you use it, the faster it will grow."
Pressed against his chest, I could clearly hear his strong, steady heartbeat. His body was warm, his embrace exceptionally comforting...
But suddenly, Lionel's devilish smile flashed in my mind, as if warning me of something, and then it disappeared just as quickly. I quickly withdrew from Dene's embrace.
