A cold breeze swept from behind, and I quickly pulled her to the side to dodge.
Ada, who had missed again, had lost all patience for the fight. Her once beautiful face now looked terrifying, filled with murderous rage as she screamed, "Damn bitch, you refuse the easy path and choose the hard one!" As she spoke, her slender, delicate hand transformed into a monstrous claw, slashing viciously toward my face.
I raised my hand, deflecting her arm with my silver bracelet. She quickly retracted her hand, retreating in fear.
"Ada, you'd better calm down. You're no match for me!" I didn't want to kill my own sister, even if she was a vampire.
But it seemed her wild instincts had been fully unleashed, turning her into nothing more than a hunting tool. If I didn't kill her, who knew how many innocent people would fall victim?
"Hahaha... Margie, you're nothing but a blood supply. Let me bite you, and my master will turn you into one of us. Wouldn't it be wonderful to live forever together? We'd still be sisters. When you become a vampire, your senses, your body, your movements... everything about you will ascend to another level. Margie, come to me..."
"You're truly beyond saving!" I sighed helplessly, shaking my head. With a determined thought, I froze her in place before me. To prevent her master from finding her, I set the freeze to be permanent.
If no one moved her, by tomorrow morning when the sun rose, she would turn to ashes and vanish forever.
Tears streamed down uncontrollably as memories of our happy times at the Saturday restaurant flickered like a silent film in my mind.
"Hey, are you okay? Thank you... thank you for saving me. Is she... your friend?" The man on the ground stood up, still shaken, and spoke to me.
Wiping the tears from my face, I gently touched Ada's icy face, my brows furrowed in sorrow as I fought back the suffocating grief in my heart. "Yes, she's my sister. You'd better leave now, and stay away from people like her in the future."
He hesitated. "How... how can I repay you? How did you freeze her? Are you human, or a ghost? An angel?"
"Get out!" I roared, unable to contain my anger. "Get as far away as possible!"
The man stumbled away in a hurry, and I hugged Ada, who now resembled an ice sculpture, and wept bitterly.
The next day at 1:00 PM, I left the hotel where I had spent the night and found my way to the alley.
Clearly, the sunlight had already passed through this place. Where Ada had stood the night before, only a pile of ashes remained, scattered by the wind.
I crossed myself, placed the urn I had brought on the ground, and carefully collected the ashes into it.
"Ada, if there's a next life, live it well. I'll pray for you!" I muttered to myself, tears falling again. The loneliness and desolation I felt overwhelmed me, and I suddenly missed Bevis terribly.
I took a taxi to the prearranged cemetery, buried the ashes, and placed a bouquet of flowers in front of the grave. Sighing, I sat beside the tombstone, staring at the rows of graves, feeling lost and unsure of where to go.
"Sybelle, what are you doing here?" A soft, clear voice came from the shade of a tree not far behind me.
Startled by the cold aura behind me, I turned to see Rui Jones Albert standing there.
Clad in a black trench coat, his wide hood shadowing his sinister face, his cold smile concealed in the shadows, he looked like the Grim Reaper himself.
I glared at his brown eyes, so eerily similar to Lionel's, and sneered, "I never thought a vampire would dare come out in broad daylight!"
"Don't worry, I've applied sunscreen. I can last four or five hours!" He tilted his head, his lips curling into a smirk, his eyes flickering with a hint of affection. "Sybelle, do you know how much I've missed you? Come back to me!"
Delusional vampire!
"I'm Margie, not Sybelle!"
Hearing the name Sybelle made my blood boil.
But before I could get too angry, I decided to make a run for it. I turned and tried to dash away, only to crash directly into a cold chest—somehow, the vampire prince had already moved.
I quickly pulled back, but two arms wrapped around me from behind, while the figure in front still stood there, smiling.
God, could he clone himself?!
As I stood there in shock, the one in front suddenly pushed me. A cold wind rushed toward me, and the silver necklace around my neck was yanked off by an invisible force, slicing across my skin before flying away. My bracelet and ring fell to the ground.
I stared at him warily, the arms around my waist feeling all too real, paralyzing me with fear. "Rui Jones, what... what do you want? I told you I'm not your Princess Sybelle, I'm Margie!"
In an instant, the figure in front of me disappeared, but the one holding me from behind was still there—oh my God, I've really run into a ghost this time! I wanted to cry but had no tears left.
Gritting my teeth, I took rapid, shallow breaths, forcing myself to stay calm. I shouldn't be afraid of him—I tried to freeze him with my mind, turning him into a statue.
But the arms around my waist remained unfrozen.
Maybe I should heat him up instead. Lionel said heating would be painful—God, I'm already at his mercy, and I'm still thinking about that heartless thousand-year-old corpse?
But strangely, neither freezing nor heating had any effect on him.
Finally, I decided to keep him at a constant temperature and make his blood...
I truly understood the meaning of 'out of options' now!
As a last resort, I delivered a defensive kick, the sharp heel of my shoe accurately hitting his shin. He finally reacted—but his reaction was to quickly press my head to the side, his cold lips grazing my neck.
As I trembled in fear, he kissed my neck twice, the icy touch like a dagger slicing through my nerves.
"Lunatic, let me go, let me go..." This was too dangerous. If his fangs came out, my neck would have two more holes!
