A Wish for Peace

The word "monster" from more than a decade ago had long severed the bond between father and daughter. Although the memory of him beating my mother had faded, the scars from those lashes were deeply etched in my heart. Just one glance at him, and those wounds would bleed anew.

Now, he openly acknowledged me as his daughter, but it couldn't be that simple—thanks to that vampire king, the last thing I wanted to be was someone's "daughter"!

Barefoot and wearing only my nightgown, I dashed out of the hall. The moment my feet touched the scorching pebbles in the courtyard, it felt like stepping on burning coals. My soles ached, but I had no choice but to push forward.

Hue had brought me into this family, hoping I could lead a normal life. But staying here would only subject me to inhumane treatment. If he had any kindness, he should have sent me to Bevis instead!

The courtyard was unbelievably large. Just running through the garden took me a full two minutes.
