Good price

The next day, Gael wakes up and leaves the room. He notices that the door to Raiko's room is open, so he decides to take a look. Inside, he sees Raiko sleeping soundly.

"Raiko... Raiko... Why are you still asleep, didn't we go to bed at the same time?" asks Gael as he tries to wake him up.

Raiko looks at him with a sleepy face and answers, still confused, "No, not really. After I closed the door, I started watching the news to stay informed. Then I went down to the living room and played a video game. I realized that I'm terrible at Battle Royales. It was almost three o'clock, so I fell asleep at that time. But I always go to sleep late, more or less to wake up at eleven."

Gael frowns. "Don't you think those hours aren't good for you?"

Raiko joins in and calmly replies, "No, but this way my schedule matches that of our targets. Criminals usually act from noon onwards. The odd one or two start earlier, but we can't be active around the clock."

Gael looks at him curiously. "And how do you know that?"

Raiko sighs, her eyes taking on a wistful tinge. "It was one of the last things Osmerd told me before he disappeared. He was my mentor and the one who took care of me for almost ten years."

"Besides," Raiko continues, "when a crime happens, the news usually puts the time. Based on that and calculating an average, I came to that conclusion."

Gael nods, thoughtfully. "Wow... uh... and what's today's mission?"

Raiko smiles slightly. "Wait for me in the living room."

Already in the lounge, ready to leave, Raiko informs Gael, "Today's mission is a common one and it's..."

Inside the bus, Gael sits apart, with a displeased expression. His mind flashes back to the moment when Raiko explained the mission to him. "Today's mission is a common one and it's to buy bread" then on the bus he thinks "Buy bread? Did I quit my old job as a robbery assistant and the brain for operations for this? Is this a joke? Is today April Fool's Day? ... No, it's not..."

Arriving at the coffee shop, Raiko remarks to Gael, "This is my favorite coffee shop. The coffee and bread are good price. I want you to place the order."

"Ok... If it's your favorite coffee shop, then you know the owner, right? What's his name?" asks Gael.

Raiko seems to hesitate. "Uh... well, I don't know. Just because it's my favorite coffee shop doesn't mean I have to know the owner."

They both enter. Raiko sits down at a nearby table, while Gael approaches the counter.

"Hi, my name is Gael, and what's yours?"

The owner and manager, surprised, replies, "Oh.... Morning. I wasn't expecting that. My name is Martin. What can I do for you?"

"Hello, Martin. I need two classic breakfasts. And to go, two bags of bread, plus coffee and milk."

"Okay. Breakfast will be ready in about five minutes. All together that would be 15 Glints."

Gael turns to Raiko, who tosses him three five Glints coins. After paying, Gael returns to the table, still annoyed.

"How are we supposed to change the city if we're buying bread?"

"We can't do anything on an empty stomach. Crimes in this area are quite common," Raiko replies, relaxed.

"Yeah, right...like someone's going to break in and steal right-"

Before he finishes speaking, a robber bursts in, kicking the glass door of the cafeteria, which shatters.

"Nobody move! Give me all the money!" the robber shouts, shooting at the ceiling to intimidate everyone.

Raiko sighs, getting to her feet. "Hey, can't you wait until we finish breakfast?"

The thief turns around, surprised, and looks at him in disbelief. "What are you going to do, shoot me and take me to the police?"

Raiko smiles. "I'm not, but my friend is."

Before the robber can react, Gael fires a perfect shot into the criminal's hand, causing him to drop the gun and recoil in fright. He tries to hit Raiko, but Raiko easily dodges and hits him, then pinning him down by standing on top of him.

"Gael, out! The motorcycle!" shouts Raiko, pointing to a waiting accomplice on a motorcycle, who is leaving the scene.

Gael aims at the wheels, but the first shot misses. The second hits the driver's leg, who loses his balance and crashes into a car. As he tries to get up, Gael fires a third shot, this time straight into the other leg, immobilizing the thief.

People in the area approach the wounded accomplice, confront him and call the police.

Raiko, Gael and Martin watch the chaos from the cafeteria. Raiko folds her arms and says, "You know what, Martin? Better if breakfast is to go."
