Seishan walked through the streets with a tentative expression placed across her face as she slid a phone out of a local official's pocket. Everyone with authority within the northern quadrant had direct access to Valor, using them for trade for illegal goods or whatever was necessary, but Seishan didn't need them.
'I'm sorry Sunless, I'm so sorry. But I can't let you leave here, I need you!' Going to the surface with Sunny would mean abandoning the life of violence that she had come to love about Sunny, stripping Sunny away from his violent, machine-like nature was too big of a sin to bear, and so she did the unthinkable.
Pressing the phone against her chest, she felt her heart race as she prepared to call the line directly to Clan Valor. Morgan and her troops were the closest, so doing this would be a direct method in leading the two in a collision course with each other. Yet Seishan had accounted for all of that.
'If Valor comes in, I'll just tell Sunless to abandon escape and flee deeper into the underworld. Surely, he won't risk my safety, right? Yes, he loves me, he has eyes only for me! He chose me!' Seishan proclaimed, shakily placing the phone to her ear as the phone played its silent song.
Suddenly, the line connected. Whoever was on the other side of the phone did not get the opportunity to speak as Seishan spoke first. "Lost from Light is in the northern quadrant, and he's going to escape soon! Be here as soon as possible!" With that, she pressed the button to hang up before aiming her attention at Eubin's manor.
It only took fifteen minutes for Valor to arrive, Seishan had bet everything on the fact that Sunny would stay true to his word and not abandon her here, and soon it was about to pay off. Morgan stepped out of a large vehicle gracefully, glancing around at the civilians with a look of disgust before nodding to Gilead, who took in a deep breath then roared.
"This place is currently on lockdown as per orders from Morgan of Valor! Nobody is allowed to exit the northern quadrant, or you will be killed on the spot!" His voice echoed throughout the entire city before slowly receding into a faint echo. Seishan bolted toward Eubin's manor, determined to get there first as Morgan watched the scene unfold with a smile on her face.
"My dog dares run from me? I'll have to... discipline him. For hours, this time." Morgan stretched before shedding her coat, revealing a pitch-black bodysuit that accentuated her figure extremely. Rolling her shoulders, Morgan disappeared, bolting toward Eubin's mansion faster than the eye could see.
Sunny glared at Eubin before blitzing toward her and grabbing her by the shirt. "Did you call them here? If you did, I swear to God I'll—" Sunny's statement remained unfinished as Eubin pressed a finger against his lips. "Up the stairs, inside my room and behind my dresser, the code is 4532. I'll stall them, you'll need to abandon your friend unfortunately. But I can set up something for them later."
Nodding silently, Sunny rushed up her stairs and pushed open the door to Eubin's room. Initially, he was confused why her house had no guards and heavily laden defences, until he took a closer analysis and realised a few simple truths. Eubin was all the defence the house needed, and the house was in fact trapped.
Each step he took, he noticed compartments ready to shoot out poisoned string that could remove the limbs of a grown adult in a matter of moments. Shivering slightly to himself, he silently offered thanks to the Sunny of the past who decided against killing Eubin before narrowing his eyes at her window.
Seishan was bolting toward the manor, all it would take was for him to leap down and whisk her away with him into safety, yet moving far ahead of her was Morgan. Bloodlust exuded from Sunny's body before quickly being supressed, there were too many opponents teeming throughout the city for Sunny to fight so openly, and with Seishan present, that meant unnecessary liabilities.
Despite all of Sunny's infinite rationale telling him to abandon Seishan temporarily and return for her later, Sunny found his body moving on its own. Shoving open her window, Sunny leapt from it before landing noiselessly on the floor next to Seishan. Grabbing her by her wrist, Sunny pulled her into an alleyway before pressing a finger against his lips.
Adrenaline quelled his traumatic response as he spoke silently. "I'll take you to Eubin's house... and we will escape. You'll be free... and you can do as you like from there. I'd hope you... stay with me though. I've come to appreciate... your company." Upon hearing Sunny's admission, Seishan's mental barriers broke down.
Sliding to her feet, tears began cascading from her eyes as her lip trembled, she cried endlessly as the ground became soaked in her tears. Sunny didn't know how to console her, or what to do to console her. Yet his body moved on instinct once more as he wrapped his arms around Seishan, running a hand through her hair as he gently patted her on the back.
Despite her weak physique, Seishan's grip was firm as she held him close to her and her lips trembled. As she got closer to him, her sobs continued to increase in intensity as her shoulders began trembling, preparing herself for what she had to do.
Throughout all his life, Sunny's senses had been honed to the peak of humanity, whether it be a genetic issue that caused it or something more latent he never knew, these senses only increased further during his forced stay at Valor, allowing him to never miss a sound as he studied the steps of his captors.
Yet, even regardless of his acute senses, the words that hit his ears appeared unreal. It was like his mind refused to acknowledge their existence as a feminine voice whispered into his ears, two words shattering everything he had come to know since he first met Seishan.
"I'm sorry."
Her grip on him tightened to immense proportions, Sunny's mind failed to register what had happened as Seishan took in a deep breathe and shouted. "Lost from light is here! I've found him!" Sunny's body froze, attempting to pull himself weakly from Seishan's grip as his lips trembled and a piercing pain flew through his head.
Pulling back from her, Sunny looked around to see three figures standing around him. Gilead, Morgan, and a woman who he couldn't quite recognise. His grip on his head grew firmer as he quickly drew blood, staring at Seishan with an empty expression.
Tears fell from his eyes as his lip trembled, he felt like he was about to throw up, bile bubbling in his stomach preparing itself for an escape. His grip on his knife grew until he left dents in it. Sunny wanted to kill, he wanted to kill Seishan, kill Morgan, kill Gilead. Yet no words escaped his mouth.
Only a guttural roar.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" staggered back as blood continued to cascade from his head. In moments, Gilead was upon him. A fist flew at his face, threatening to knock him out in a single blow yet Sunny didn't care. Instead of dodging the blow, Sunny slammed his head into Gilead's fist, cracking his knuckles as blood spouted from his arms.
Sunny's knife moved like a snake as it lashed out at Gilead's eye, he only had enough time to lean back as it removed chunks of his golden hair which got sent flying loosely at the force of his blow. Flicking his knife into the air, Sunny kicked it downward at Gilead before rushing at him from another angle.
As Gilead turned his body to the left to avoid the knife that sliced a thin line over his ribs, Sunny arrived from his right, biting down on his stomach with tremendous force and pulling backward like a dog, ripping off a chunk of his flesh. Gilead bit his lip stifling a scream before slamming a fist into Sunny's head.
Blood flew through the air as Sunny's face became indented into the ground, however, Sunny shot to his feet, grabbing Gilead by the leg before moving to snap it. 'I did everything, I was good, I saved her life! I just want to be alive! Why won't you let me be free!' Despite his extended battle with Gilead, his eyes remained fixed on Seishan's form as he slammed his fist into Gilead's ribs.
Before he could inflict further damage, Morgan's hand firmly clasped itself around his own as Sunny looked up at her with disdain. "Sit." Unconsciously, unwillingly, yet supremely compelled by the commands of his master, Sunny felt his body shift to the floor before looking up at Morgan.
It had been a habit developed by instinct. Defying Morgan promised pain and obeying her promised an escape from pain. It was a golden rule that had been instilled into his consciousness so much so that it became a physical impossibility to defy the woman so long as she gave her express command to act.
Reaching down to his bloodied face, Morgan cupped his cheek with her hands before smiling at him. "Good boy, you don't even struggle with Gilead anymore!" Sunny didn't hear her words, his eyes remained bloodshot as his heart continued to attempt to escape his chest, a panic attack slowly settling in on his body as he bit his lip to suppress it.
Ruffling his hair, Morgan leaned in and planted a kiss on his forehead. "I'll need to punish you for attempting to run though." She stated, her voice turning icy cold. However, before she could act, an explosion resounded through the city. Eubin soared through the air before crashing into the ground between Sunny and Morgan, forcing the woman from Valor to shift temporarily.
"What do you think you're doing engaging in combat in my territory!?" Eubin shouted, not turning her head to Sunny as she spoke. Morgan merely offered her a sweet smile before replying. "I'm simply here to collect what is mine, no? After all, one of your men had called me to pick up Lost from Ligh—"
Morgan's voice trailed off as she turned her attention to where Sunny had once been. As silent as always, Sunny had disappeared. Leaving her and Eubin to settle an issue of having a fight in which Morgan had no proof the other participant was even present.
Turning backward slightly, Morgan noticed that the young woman behind her, Seishan, had a knife, Sunny's, lodged into the cement wall merely a few inches away from her neck as she wore a horrified expression on her face. Placing a hand over hey eyes, Morgan began to giggle, which soon turned into a hearty laugh as she looked to the blackened skies of the northern quadrant.
"I've truly raised a wonderful dog, haven't I!"
It only took Sunny minutes before he could see the starry blue skies once more. Pieces of light floated in the air dimly as they remained free and unbound by the problems of men. Sunny didn't exactly know when he had stopped running, but all he knew was that he was free.
Free from hell.
Lying flat on his back, Sunny stared at the starry skies before placing a hand on his chest, his panic attack coming in full force as he struggled to breathe, grasping his chest for support as he rolled over with a pathetic expression on the sandy floor.
Finally, he managed to regain control over himself. He was unsure why he hadn't done it. Why he hadn't killed Seishan. Throughout all the years of him killing, Sunny had made it a point to never remember the faces or names of those who's lives he snuffed. Yet, the expression on Seishan's face as he held a knife near her throat refused to flee from his vision.
Sadness quickly turned to fury as Sunny gritted his teeth, slamming his fist into the ground with a pained expression across his face. "I gave up everything for her, I got treated like a dog for her. I could've left on my own." He mumbled to himself.
Sunny hadn't known when tears began falling from his eyes once more, he just knew that they were. A part of his heart died down there, in the depths of the underworld. And there was nobody who could help him regain it.
But it was fine though, he entered the underworld alone, and he left it alone. A part of him too truly felt it, was truly honest, more honest than Sunny ever was despite his inability to speak a lie.
"I'm always going to be alone, aren't I?"
