ABYSS

"After months of searching, we finally got our first lead"

It was a dark room the only thing providing light was a large screen which projected a picture of a symbol. A symbol which represented the person He had been chasing for months now.

He sat on a chair staring at the screen in front of him.

He looked like someone in his early twenties and had a broad chest. One would say he was average weighted with a muscular build.

"Luke i never thought it would come to this" He muttered to himself.

"It's now or never Jayce lets pursue him the sooner the better" A voice from behind said to Jayce whiles walking forward. "Me and you we can do this"

He was now in the light He also looked like he was in his early twenties but with a more thick and tall build. He looked as tall as six feet and with a muscular build but chubby too.

"I can do this alone don't worry" Jayce stood up and walked towards the thick tall man – Clark. "You three stay here and observe any abyss transactions.

"Jayce" A voice coming from another young man like them called out.

He had a slim build and was as tall as five foot eight.

"We need to talk" he continued with an irritated look.

They walked away to an area with no one over there.

"Any problem Bright, you look annoyed what's wrong" Jayce asked.

Bright turned to Jayce "I can't let you go alone Jayce"

"Don't worry I can handle it" Jayce replied.

"Its not about you Jayce, we promised to do this while saving as many lives as we can" Bright shouted a little bit above his normal tone.

"And that's what we are doing" Jayce replied with a rebellious tone.

"Well, what happened last week says different, a young man died yesterday Jayce and it's all your fault". Bright said with Jayce's face turned around. "You could have taken that man out at that second but you didn't"

"I NEEDED TO!" Jayson turned around and shouted before reducing his tone again. "I needed to experiment some more"

"Not at the expense of the life of others" Bright replied.

Jayce took in a deep breath and released it "I'm going alone Bright and you can't stop me"

Jayce then walked out of the room they were in.

They had finally gotten their first lead they now knew the mastermind behind the sales of abyss in the ruins and needed to put a stop to it.

The person they were looking for was an old friend and they knew exactly where he would be.

It was nine pm and Jayce walked the streets of the ruins. It was dark as always and his surroundings were filthy. You would have thought there would be beggars around but who were they going to beg from?

He walked a little while longer until he had reached a place where there was bright light. The light was being emitted from a building he was looking at.

It was a really tall building and it surprisingly looked good unlike the other buildings in the ruins. Music could be heard from the building and this looked like no place for poor people.

Jayce was at the entrance of the building. There were two huge body guards there but he just showed them a card and they let him pass.

He entered the building and saw all kinds of people partying and having the time of their lives.

"Not at the expense of the life of others" This statement rang through his head as he watched all the people around.

"I'm not a murderer" He muttered to himself as he moved forward.

He climbed the stairs of the building and made it to the top floor. There he met bodyguards again and showed them the card but this time they had told him to wait.

"Boss we have someone with a vanguard card" One of the bodyguards went in a room and said to a man sitting behind a desk.

"A vanguard card, Jayce?" The man thought to himself.

"Let him in" The man ordered.

 " Jayce " The man called out as Jayce walked in "How have you been".

"Luke, I think you know why I'm here" Jayce said while looking around the room he was in.

"You disrupted my transactions Jayce, I'm not too happy myself" Luke's face immediately went from a welcoming expression to a serious one.

"We promised to make this place great again" Jayce said harshly whiles walking forward rapidly.

"What do you think I am doing?" Luke said, a little bit above his normal tone.

"Abyss is making the people of this place feel better, the sick will be healed the weak will be strong it will strengthen this population again we will be able to rebuild" Luke continued.

"At the cost of their humanity?" Jayce asked.

"OUR HUMANITY HAS FAILED US!" Luke exclaimed.

Jayce looked down and took a light breath in and out.

"I need you to stop with the sales of abyss" Jayce said looking back at Luke.

"What position are you in to give me –

POW!

A gunshot echoed throughout the room. Jayce was holding a shot gun with smoke coming out of its muzzle. He had shot Luke and the power of this shot was enough to rip off Luke's whole left hand.

"I won't repeat myself" Jayce's demeaner had changed to a serious one.

Blood was oozing from what left from Luke's hand. He stared at Jayce and Jayce stared right back.

"You've grown…...Jayce, that's good" Immediately after saying this Luke picked up something from his pocket and stabbed his neck with it.

It happened so fast; it took some time before Jayce could figure out what was actually going on after closer inspection.

"Abyss?" Jayce questioned himself in shock

Abyss, introduced about one year ago into this country. A drug which is believed to make humans surpass their limits. The abyss is known to come in three stages.

The first stage introduced was the Abyss class C which increased the physical or mental abilities of an individual by ten or even hundred folds depending on the person who took it. It could make a person stronger, faster or even smarter.

The second stage introduced was the Abyss class B which allowed an individual to create some form of void known as an "Enclosed system void". This void is believed to be a detachment of reality preventing any external interference or interference in the void from getting out of it. The individual who created this void is believed to be able to manipulate some aspect of it at will. Apart from this the individuals physical prowess is increased far beyond a normal humans own and creating an enclosed system void requires sucking energy from another human in which the individual is given the ability to do so.

There are rumors of different classes of Abyss existing and Jayce hadn't come across any, well until now.

He watched as Luke's eyes turned totally black and his veins portrayed popped out portraying a dark color.

Whatever Luke had stabbed himself with fell from his hand and Jayce caught a glimpse of what it was.

It turns out he hadn't stabbed but injected himself with whatever fell from his hand which turned out to be a syringe with the letter A on it.

Jayce knew exactly what this was,

An A class Abyss.

Even though he had never encountered an individual who used an A class abyss before he wasn't planning on finding out the capabilities of a class A abyss.

He could already feel a pulse running through him telling him to run but he couldn't, He had to put a stop to whatever this was.

Luke fell to his knees and began groaning in pain.

To Jayson this was his perfect opportunity, He was taking the shot.

He pointed his gun towards Luke and was about to pull the trigger but something happened, it was so fast he couldn't understand it in that moment.

He had been blown away like a pollen grain on a windy day. Whatever had pushed him away also destroyed everything in its path. Jayce found himself holding onto an iron bar from the top floor of the building.

He looked down to the ground floor to see the derbies of what ever was destroyed by that force crashing down to the ground.

The down there all looked up confused at what was happening. To them they were partying and the next second rocks came crashing down from the to floor.

"RUN!" Jayce cried out as he hung from the iron bar.

Not wanting to find out what was happening they all did as Jayce requested and evacuated the building in fear.

"I have to get back up there I can't let whatever that was still live" Jayce thought to himself as he tried to pull himself back up to the floor he was at.

He had made it there but something was off, the place was now completely dark. Nothing could be seen and this didn't seem good for Jayce.

Earlier he had seen what happened but he needed time to understand it.

First Luke had grown his hand back. At that moment Jayce was too focused on taking out Luke that he didn't find it strange that he had just grown his hand back. 

When Jayce pointed the gun towards Luke that is when it happened, Luke stretched his arm towards Jayce and widened his palm and then-

BOOM!

A tremendous force sent Jayce flying away.

Right now, Jayce stood on the top floor staring into the darkness not even knowing what he was looking for. Suddenly he fell that pulse he felt earlier urging him to make a run for it this time it was too strong to ignore.

In Jayce's perspective it felt like the darkness he was staring at wanted to swallow him up.

Without even realizing he jumped out of the first floor it was like his body was moving on its own.

Jayce couldn't understand what was happening but there on thing he knew;

He couldn't face whatever was up there.

As he jumped out of the first floor, he felt a sensation which made him feel like it was taking forever for him to reach the ground. Whatever was in the shadows was onto him now. He could feel it.

He was midair and facing a window on the second floor.

CRASH!

Something came bulldozing through the window of the second floor and was now Infront of Jayce.

It happened too fast Jayce wasn't prepared for it.

Right now, he was midair and all he could do was to stare at what was Infront of him. He didn't even know if what he was looking at was human or animal.

It clinched its fist and was prepared to give Jayce a punch to the gut.

POW!

The punch connected. It was powerful enough to send Jayce flying through two other different buildings.
