Scythe cultivation manual

[Congratulations! The Scythe Cultivation Manual has been selected.]

Hero's heart palpitated madly. In his entire life, he had never seen a single cultivator using this kind of weapon. It was strange and new to him in that Hero felt like he had already been left out. He couldn't imagine that a scythe would take him to greater heights.

Hitting his knuckles together until they were bleeding, sweat streamed down his cheeks. He was restless as he looked from side to side, thinking of a way to turn this around.

'I can not use the scythe, that is stupid up there. How will I look in front of my peers while holding that thing? Would they think that I am an idiot and a weirdo? Who uses a stupid weapon like that? How will I wield such a thing?' Hero asked himself so many questions in his mind but he couldn't come up with even a single answer for them .

He had even forgotten that he was in old man Hutchinson's car as the old man was too vague and almost absent in front of his eyes.

"Son, is there something that is bothering you? You have been acting strange lately. If you have a problem, just share it with me and I will see how I can help you. In this kingdom of Ugley, no problem is unsolvable. Hehe! Trust me, if you are not going to tell me what is bothering you, then we are not going anywhere." The old man smiled but he was serious with what he was talking about.

Unknown to Hero, the old man had stopped the car at the roadside and he had been observing him for a long time without Hero noticing this.

Old man Hutchinson caressed the steering wheel as he awaited for Hero to talk to him. It was as if he had all the time in the world and he would not move the truck forward until Hero spoke what was bothering him.

Hero calmed down and took in a deep breath before he stared at the old man with his eyes narrowed into slits.

"It's like this. Can a cultivator change the weapon manual that they have already chosen to cultivate?" Hero asked the old man without going into too much details. He reclined on his seat and waited for old man Hutchinson to answer him.

"Well... I thought you are feeling unwell, but if it is an issue about cultivation that is bothering you, then, you have come to the right person. I know a thing or two about these stuffs." Old man Hutchinson said with a weak voice before he inhaled in a relaxed posture and smiled, then he continued,

"If you bought this manual and you have yet to read anything inside it, then you have a chance to choose another cultivation manual of your choice to cultivate but it would be a waste of money to buy another manual and I think it would be better to stick with the initial manual. However, if you have read through the manual and bound yourself with it, then there is no way of changing to another cultivation manual until you finish mastering the initial one..." Old man Hutchinson went on and on as Hero nodded his head but his face darkened the more Hutchinson talked.

Clearly, Hero was now bound with the scythe cultivation manual and there was nothing that could change that. This was his reality that he had to face himself.

"I understand. I now know what to do." Hero feigned calmness so that he could not agitate the old man which made him to smile.

He looked at Hero once again and asked him with an astonished look.

"It doesn't look like you are a cultivator. I can't sense any energy in you, why bother yourself with these stuffs?"

Clearly, Hero was not a cultivator yet as he had not started practicing and therefore, it felt strange to the old man that what was bothering Hero was something that didn't associate with him.

"Errm, its just that I feel like I will be becoming a cultivator soon enough, but I don't know what weapon to use." Hero face palmed himself and stretched his hand before grasping a bottle of water from the dashboard and gulped it all down.

In the mean time, the old man continued to drive the truck and he was going a little fast since the traffic had dwindled considerably. It seemed where old man Hutchinson stayed was not a populated place like where Hero used to stay in the slums.

"It is a good decision that you are thinking of being a cultivator at a young age. Cultivation is a tedious process and a person like me saw no benefit in cultivating but instead, I kept chasing girls all these years..." Old man Hutchinson went on and on as he drove but Hero was not listening to him, he decided to enjoy the outside scenery of this new place that he was going to stay at for an unknown period of time.

Closing his eyes, Hero didn't saw the notifications but instead, he saw the Scythe cultivation manual. From old man Hutchinson, he came to find out that there was no way he could get rid of this cultivation manual since he had already bound himself with it and therefore, Hero decided to will it open.

'This system has not been responding even when I shouted at it, I don't know if the situation will change this time.' Hero thought as he willed the book open, but this time round, his response was felt by the book.

The front cover opened and on the first page, Hero read the words:

The scythe was one of the difficult weapons to master because it was too demanding on endurance, speed, strength and aptitude.

Hero could see the image of the scythe and it was so menacing. With a shaft of about two metres and a blade which had a length of a metre, the scythe was slightly taller than Hero himself and he felt small before this weapon, this notion alone gave Hero a headache as he didn't knew how he would lift up and swing such a weapon around, this was truly a nightmare.

(The scythe was not for the weak and with a swing, the abyss would be sundered and demons would be severed.)

Just from reading the introduction alone, Hero felt his blood pumping, he felt like there was more to this weapon. Why did the system chose this type of weapon for him, was there something that he didn't knew? Hero didn't think that this was just a mere coincidence.

On the second page, Hero saw an image of a person who was wearing a dark armor that covered him from head to toe, this person was wielding the sythe and just from peeking at this person, Hero felt his blood pumping. He felt like he was on the battlefield holding the sythe himself and in front of him, there was an endless army of demons which wanted a part of him.

However, before Hero could get lost in the feeling, old man Hutchinson patted his shoulder.

"We are here."
