Hero's decision

After coming from the bathroom, Hero had a complicated look plastered on his face. He didn't knew Hutchinson that well but he had followed him here because to him, Hutchinson looked like a kind person, which was very rare to find in the slums and even in the inner city.

He couldn't believe that there would come a time when he would be forced out of the slums. To him, he had chose to live in the slums, marry the chicks of the slums and maybe, have his kids in the slums and die in the slums.

Hero's whole life was centered in the slums and unlike most of the people who toiled day and night so that they could one day leave the slums, Hero was different because he knew that the slums were made for him and therefore, he had never thought of struggling to escape from its clutches.

Nonetheless, it came as a surprise that he found himself in a different place on this day. Hero was not optimistic as to think that he would stay at old man Hutchinson's place for his entire life, no. The moment he stepped on this land, he knew that it was not only foreign to him but it also didn't belong to him.

He felt like an alien in this place and this feeling didn't sit well with him because he knew that time was coming when something will happen either to him or to old man Hutchinson or to the both of them which would make them to go their separate ways but that time was not now, it was just a matter of time.

Phew!

Hero exhaled and scratched the back of his head. Currently, his hair was combed and he left it to flow down like a woman's (Reference: Hair of Manchester City's striker Erling Haaland).

Walking slowly towards the living room, Hero didn't knew what he was going to talk about with either Hutchinson or the old woman. Was he needed to thank them for taking him in or did Hutchinson pick him up from the streets so that he could help the old man on his farm? Was Hero supposed to fawn upon them because they were rich and because he wanted to stay with them for a long time? What was Hero supposed to do or what was he supposed to talk with them?

"Damn! I can't believe it!" Hero was frustrated. He came to a halt in front of the mural as he thought of what he really wanted and his relationship with Hutchinson.

While viewing the mural, Hero came to a conclusion. He was not going to act out of his character. Being someone else was hard and Hero hated being or wanting to be like someone else and therefore, he was going to be himself.

Hero was not going to wag his tail and fawn upon old man Hutchinson or the old woman either. To Hero, fawning was a sign of weakness. His father told him to be a man and men were not supposed to be weak. If a man started being weak, then it was better for him to go for a sex change and that was not Hero.

Moreover, Hero was not going to force his friendship or relationship with Hutchinson. It was better for him to put his guard up and keep his distance from old man Hutchinson, he was not going to be fooled by the old man's weakness. Even if old man Hutchinson would kick him out later for not being the person that Hutchinson anticipated, Hero didn't care, he would still find his way to the slums and life would continue.

With his head up and his chest out, Hero's silhouette appeared in the living room.

The old man was seating beside the old woman and a glass was in his grasp. He seemed to be enjoying the red liquid from the cauldron. However, they were not what caught Hero's attention but it was a five year old girl who was crawling on the old woman's back which kept the old woman busy. The old woman struggled to let the girl down from her back but the girl would giggle and climb onto her back again.

'So... Tracy is a five year old girl? Such a lovely family.' Hero thought with a relaxed expression.
