"Hell, no!"
The moment the thought came in her mind, she immediately cancelled it.
"How can I get married and don't remember about it!"
She leaned back. Though she couldn't accept the thought she had, but she couldn't deny it either. That was because of the...
Business trip.
After completing her degree in designing, Chloe joined a fashion house. Though her family was a major share holder of this company and she got an upper hand, she joined as a trainee. She wanted to start from scratch and navigate in the fashion industry for first hand experience.
The tour was arranged by the company, for a collaboration project between their company and a Las Vegas based fashion house. She went with some of her colleagues. They stayed there for four days, discussed and did some rough project works, then came back. In the whole trip, there was nothing to be suspicious about, except...
One night!
Now, Chloe remembered.
That was their last night in Las Vegas. The partner company arranged a party for them, after three and a half days of hard work, it was much needed. They really enjoyed it. The party was held at a private beach, with lots of drinks, snacks, dishes and fun activities. Most of them were enjoying it to their core, eating, snacking and tripping on booze— and Chloe was also not an exception.
That night what happened, she didn't remember clearly. The party started at evening, and as the night wore on, the party got harder. Like most of the other colleagues of her, she was also intoxicated, almost losing her senses.
The next day she woke up in her hotel's suite, every memory of that night was blurred. But she didn't think much, and got busy with her works. That morning they attended the office for one last time, then boarded the plain and came back.
After that trip, six months had passed, and she almost forgot about the night. Probably she'd never remember it if the certificate wasn't arrived.
"Couldn't it be that I got married that night!"
She murmured.
"But, how! Like, how this could happen! Getting married after getting drunk, it doesn't make sense!"
Frustrated, she clenched her fist so tightly that her nails scratched her plam.
"Ouch!"
She howled in pain and frustration. "Fuck!"
.....
Chase was reviewing a project file, sitting in his room. It had to be submitted today, and he took a final look at it. It was a very important project for him, so he couldn't do any mistake.
Suddenly he heard a knocking sound on his door.
"Come in" , without looking at the door, he answered.
Immediately, the room was filled with a faint yet elegant, fresh floral scent. It was Chloe's favourite perfume!
He looked at the door and found her, standing at his doorstep. She was dressed, as if she was going somewhere.
"Are you busy?"
"No, what happened?" He answered.
"Chase, if you have time, can you drop me off to the airport?"
He was surprised.
"Sure! But, where are you going?"
"Las Vegas."
.....
"Why Las Vegas all of a sudden?"
Chase asked while driving.
Chloe was sitting on the passenger seat beside him. She was looking outside the window of the car. The window was rolled down, the fresh air swayed her loosely tied hair. She was lost in thoughts, the fine lines on her forehead showed that she was disturbed by something deeply.
"I think all the answers of mu questions are in Las Vegas. I feel I'll get all the answers once I reach there."
"Hmm?" Chase exclaimed.
Chloe looked at him.
"Chase, what if I'm actually married?"
He chuckled. "Doesn't make sense."
She smiled, "I hope so."
"Chole, you could have told me earlier, then I would be able to accompany you."
"That's why I didn't tell you."
"What! What do you mean?"
"I know, this project is very important to you. And if I have told you earlier, you'd just drop it, and it'd have resulted in a huge loss of the company. I couldn't let it happen."
He smiled. "Chloe, you've really grown up."
The remaining journey was silent. None of them said anything. Chase knew, she had something in her mind, which she wasn't saying. But he didn't force her more. When the right time would come, she'd say it herself. As of now, it'd be better to leave on her.
As they reached the airport, Chase cartied her luggage to the lounge. They settled themselves in the waiting lounge. There was still time, he bought two cups of coffe and handed her one, "Here, drink it while it's hot."
She took it and sipped. A smile appeared on the corner of her lips, Chase really understood her. This coffee was much needed.
They sat and chatted, until the boarding announcement was heard.
She stood up. "It's time, gotta go."
Chase hugged her.
"Take care if yourself, have a safe journey. And if you need anything, just call me. I'll be there the earliest possible."
She smiled.
"Okay."
He caressed her cheeks, "Bye ".
"Bye."
She went towards, Chase stood there until her figure was disappeared behind the gate. He sighed once and went back. Suddenly he felt something in his stomach, something was going to change, forever!
Chloe settled herself in the seat, her mind was racing in the thoughts of the possibilities.
What was going to happen!
She had no idea.
Soon, the passengers were directed to tie the seatbelts. In a while, the plane started running through the runway, ready to take off. She closed her eyes and leaned on her seat.
The plane slowly left the ground and climbed into the sky, leaving behind the busy city below and moving forward towards its destination, Harry Reid International Airport.
After one and a half hours of flying, the plane started landing. Chloe sat still, she was nervous. Her heart was pounding in her chest. The more she was closer to the truth, the more she feared, feared to face something that'd change her fate forever.
