It's been an hour since Chase arrived at the airport. He stood at the waiting lounge, waiting for Chloe.
"Why hasn't she come out yet!"
Looking at the wrist watch, he wondered. It's almost 9:30 now, the plane landed some time ago. Most of the passengers came out by then, but he hadn't seen her. Did she miss the flight!
Chase was about to call her, suddenly he spotted the very familiar figure. Chloe came out through the gate very slowly with random steps. She looked devastated, even carrying the small luggage in her hand seemed like a struggle.
He ran towards her, "Are you alright?" He asked while taking the bag from her hand.
"Hmm", she replied.
He grabbed her hand and started walking towards the parking lot, without asking any more questions.
He knew her for over a decade, he was well acquainted with her behaviors.
She was definitely not alright. Something was bothering her from within, otherwise she wouldn't be so quiet!
The whole day he called her several times, but she didn't pick up for once. instead, there was only a short message from her - "I'm alright, don't worry. I'll be back by 9 approx., pick me from the airport." , that's all.
And it was definitely not her nature. She used to behave like this only when she was deeply affected by something, or deeply upset about something.
But he didn't question her about the matter. Because, it was of no use, she wasn't gonna answer. Instead, he decided to wait, until she told him everything by herself.
Getting on the car, she leaned back on the seat, closing her eyes. It was a long day. Two flights and a whole day of running here and there— her body was aching.
"Did you eat anything?"
Upon sitting on the driver's seat, Chase asked. Chloe nodded in disagreement, she hadn't eaten anything since afternoon.
"Let's grab the dinner first, then we'll head home, okay?"
She nodded. She was indeed hungry. Chase smiled and patted har head.
"Good!"
He drove for about twenty minutes before the arrived at the resturant. It was one of the best resturants of the town, and also her favourite. Parking the car, he went inside for the takeaway he ordered just some time ago. He placed the packets in the backseat again, and settled himself in the driver's seat.
Beside him, on the passanger seat, Chloe was in a deep sleep. As soon as the car started moving, she fell asleep, and he didn't intend to wake her up just then!
He caressed her cheeks very gently. "This girl! Always sleeps like a baby."
The car again started running towards the Smith's residence, carrying its owner and his sleeping princess.
....
Chloe felt someone calling her in sleep. Frowning in annoyance, she slowly opened her eyes. She was in Chase's car, and he was calling her, shaking her hands.
"Huh!"
"Chloe, get up. We're home." He replied.
She looked outside, the car stood in front of the porch. She unfastened the seat belt and get off the car. She just needed her bed right now, she felt sleepy.
"Take it, don't sleep without having dinner."
Chase handed her a packet. She took it and smiled.
He never forgets anything!
"Good night!"
"Good night."
She headed towards her room, while he went to park the car in the garage.
.....
"Jessy, what should I do now?"
As she asked, a deep sigh came out of her chest.
It was a fine morning again. After a sound sleep, Chloe woke up some time ago. As soon as she was awake, she remembered everything that happened yesterday.
Last night, she was so tired of everything that she couldn't even talk to Chase. But after a whole eight hours of rest, she felt better. She called Jessica to share everything that happened throughout the whole damn day.
"God! Chloe, I still can't believe that you actually got married!"
"Me neither."
"But.. You really couldn't get anything about him? Not a single information!"
"No, Jessy! Nothing!" She leaned on the chair.
"What about the witnesses?"
"I couldn't find the girl. And for the boy— he couldn't remember."
"Wha — damn!"
Yesterday, after coming out of the registrar's office, Chloe went to the chapel where she got married. Even from there, she couldn't get any information.
She found out one of the witnesses, but he didn't remember anything.
Well, it was quite obvious. Nobody could remember the details of a random wedding that happened six months ago at late night.
Besides, Las Vegas was famous for such impromptu bedding, and it had become a profession for them to sign as a witness in such unplanned wedding.
"Huh! Girl... Now, it's a serious problem."
Jessica's voice came through the bluetooth earphones.
"I know..."
She sighed. She really didn't know what to do. Till yesterday, she had a hope that she'd do something about this marriage certificate.
But today, she was completely clueless. Now, she was stuck in a marriage she never wanted, a marriage from which now she couldn't get out, and moreover — a marriage where nothing was found about the groom itself!
"Have you told Chase about this?"
"Not yet, I just called you first to share about it."
"Okay. I'd suggest that before telling uncle and aunty about this, you should talk with him. Maybe, he could find a way to handle it!"
"Hmm."
"Don't be discouraged, discuss with him. I'm sure there'll be a way out."
"Yeah."
Though she nodded, she was not sure about it.
How could she explain it to her parents! How could she handle the upcoming situations! What would be the future of her and Carl's relationship! And... The million dollars question: what would be the future of herself!
Such fragmented thoughts kept crowding in her head, the more she started thinking, the more the thoughts started getting tangled in her head.
Suddenly, she hear knocks on her door.
"It must be Chase." She thought, and went to open the door. But to her surprise, it was Clara.
Even though they lived in the same house, Clara didn't come to her house unless she had to, so this morning she was surprised to find her at her doorstep.
"Good morning!"
She greeted her. But her sister didn't seem to care about it. She looked at her and said in a clear, cold voice.
"Come to the dining table, dad wants to talk to you."
