Come to Emery.

The next day when Chloe woke up, the first thing that she felt was,

A strong headache.

As if someone had placed a heavy-weight stone block on her head.

She slowly sat up on the bed and pressed her head with her hands. That was when she realized she had a fever too.

Well, it must be the result of sitting on the cold floor for a long time last night.

Chloe slowly got off the bed and headed to the washroom. After washing up, she came down the stairs and stood in the kitchen.

The chef there was busy cooking breakfast for the family. Standing behind him, she asked.

"Can you cook me a light meal for breakfast? Like, a bowl of soup and some bread?"

The chef nodded.

"Sure mam. Just wait for some minutes?"

"Okay. Send it over to my room."

"Sure."

After giving him the instructions, she returned to her room. In about twenty minutes, a servant knocked on the door, bringing the breakfast. Chloe slowly ate, took her time, then took paracetamol. Her head was still hurting, she felt she didn't have any energy left.

Leaving the empty plates outside the door, she closed all the windows and then laid down under the blankets. Soon, she fell asleep again.

It was after two or three hours that her sleep was broken. The fever seemed to be gone, and so was the headache. She felt much better.

Chloe took a hot shower and then sat in front of her dressing table. After a long shower, her body felt much relaxed.

She looked at her frame through the mirror. Her face was pale, eyes swollen and reddened, dark circles under them. She looked sick.

The last week had taken a toll on her health, indeed.

She took a long time to do her skincare. So much had happened over the last week, she hadn't had the time or motivation to look at herself. Now that everything was settling gradually, she just wanted nothing but to focus on herself.

After having lunch, she settled herself comfortably on the bin bag on her balcony and dialed Jessica's number. It was Saturday, her off day. They hadn't talked for the last three days, and she wanted to share everything with her.

.....

"Chloe! What the hell is this!"

Jessica's startled voice came from the earphone.

Chloe smiled. "That's what you heard right away."

"But Chloe, this is just not right."

Her voice was calm. "Is it?"

"You have a doubt! Girl... Like, how could they do it to you! Engagement with Clara, alright. But, Leave your home!"

"Have you talked to Carl?"

"Nah! He hasn't contacted me since — that day."

Chloe sighed. The last day she met him was her engagement day. After the Miller family left the venue, since then he didn't bother to contact her.

"Jerk! It's good that your engagement with him is broken.

I mean, without even standing by your side or listening to you, he just turned his back and ran away! A spineless clown."

"And that bloody Brandon Reed! Who escapes after getting married like this! Without giving any address identity! Chloe, find him from wherever he is hiding. I swear to God, if I get him once, I'll rip off his skin and break all his bones. Bloody swine!"

Chloe laughed. "Ok! Ok! Cool down, girl."

This girl! She never liked Carl since their high school.

Well, about Carl, she had a point tho.

Since that day, Carl never contacted her for once. At least, he could've called her personally and asked about what happened. But.. he chose to just obey his family instead. He also reacted like everyone else.

Even when his family proposed Clara's marriage to him, he decided to remain silent and abide by the decisions. That showed her clearly that, he never really felt something for her! His liking was maybe — just a mere attraction.

"Chloe, are you there?"

"Hmm, Say."

"Have you decided where you're going?"

"Umm, not yet. Dad said he'll think about it."

"Chloe, if you want to move, come to Emery."

Jessica's voice was heard.

"Emery?"

"Yes! Listen. In Emery, there are many big fashion houses. And with your results and work experience, you won't have a problem getting hired here. And, I live alone in my flat, so if you move here, we'll stay together! From classmates to flatmates, best friends together forever!"

Jessica explained everything in a very enthusiastic manner!

Well, that's not bad at all! Why didn't she think about it earlier!

Chloe wondered.

She had to move away from this city anyway. Wherever her father would send her, it'd be a new city, with new people and everything unknown.

But if she just moved Emery, everything would be new to her for sure, but there would be at least one known person in that unknown city, a person whom she could trust even with her eyes closed.

"Jessy, that's actually a good idea by the way. I'll look for it."

"Really? Will you really come here?"

Jessica jumped up!

Chloe chuckled. "Only if I get an appointment letter from there."

"That's not a problem at all!"

They talked for a while more. Finally, when Chloe hung up, the evening had already approached. The sun was about to set, and there was a golden glow throughout the sky.

This time was Chloe's favorite. She has always loved the golden hour glow. Everything about this time was beautiful.

She sat idly for a long time and headed into her room only when the sky was getting darker.

She sat before her study table, turning on the laptop. A slight smile played on her face, and after a long time, she somehow felt relieved.

Jessy's suggestion was actually pretty good, and she was really considering it. If she could secure a job in Emery, she'd definitely mive there.

Her fingers played on the keyboard, she searched for the job openings in the fashion houses of Emery. After scrolling through the screen for some time, suddenly, her eyes got stuck on a vacancy.

Senior Designer, Eon Luxe.
