"Big brother, you're back!"
Corvinus had just arrived home and hadn't even stepped through the doorway when a young werewolf with a striking resemblance to him poked his head out from inside.
"Kevon, why aren't you asleep yet?"
Kevon, the young werewolf, looked a bit downcast.
"I can't sleep, mom hasn't eaten anything today!"
Corvinus felt a headache coming on. With their father killed in battle, the ones who were hit the hardest, besides them sons, were their father's wives, their mothers.
Corvinus stepped past his younger brother and entered the house, seeing four figures seated by the fireplace with a roaring fire.
Upon seeing Corvinus enter, the four figures quickly stood up and greeted him, "Big brother!"
"Why are you all still awake?" Corvinus asked.
"They're all worried about mom," Kevon, the young werewolf behind Corvinus, spoke up.
Seeing the low spirits of the five, Corvinus was at a loss for how to comfort them.
These five werewolves were his siblings, four brothers and one sister.
His brother Kevon was part of a triplet, with the other two brothers named Ken and Relk.
All three brothers were eight years old.
As for the remaining two, a brother and a sister, they were twins.
The brother was named Kevin, and the sister was Jinny.
Of course, he had more than just these four brothers and one sister because their father had three wives, and they were the children of the first wife, their mother.
As for the children of the second and third wives, there were more than ten in total.
However, they did not all live together.
"Everyone sit down, I'll go check on mom," Corvinus said with a helpless glance at the little ones and headed towards the room where his mother was.
Upon entering the room, Corvinus lit an oil lamp.
He saw a figure sitting up on the bed, "Corvin, you're back?"
"Yes, mom," Corvinus turned to look at the middle-aged werewolf woman on the bed, her eyes somewhat haggard, looking very unwell.
Although he didn't have much emotional connection with this middle-aged werewolf woman, she was his biological mother, so he couldn't just ignore her.
"Mom, you didn't eat again today?"
"No, I just don't have much of an appetite," the middle-aged werewolf woman shook her head, but when she looked at Corvinus, she managed to force a loving smile.
"Mom, even though you're a second-tier warrior, doing this every day, your health will deteriorate over time," Corvinus said helplessly.
"Corvin, don't try to persuade me, being the chieftain must be tiring, go get some rest, I'll eat when I'm hungry," the middle-aged werewolf woman looked at her son, forcing a very strenuous smile.
For some reason, in these two months, her son seemed to have grown up overnight.
Before, every time he came home, he would throw himself into her arms and act coquettish, acting like a mischievous child of a few years old.
But now it was different; she could feel that her son had truly become a man.
However, to her sorrow, she could sense that her son was not as willing to be close to her as before.
Perhaps this was what growing up was like.
"Mom, that's enough!!!"
Corvinus's voice rose in anger, startling even his younger siblings outside by the fire.
The werewolf woman was also taken aback by Corvinus's outburst; her gaze was somewhat dazed. If she remembered correctly, this was the first time Corvinus had ever lost his temper with her.
"Mom, father died in battle, and we are all heartbroken. Ask Kevon, Ken, and Relk, they all lost their father, who isn't heartbroken?"
"Father's death saddens me too, but when father was alive, I was free to do as I pleased, but now, I've inherited father's position as chieftain and also his responsibilities."
"I used to think that the Silvermane Tribe was just a small tribe, and being a chieftain would be easy, but now I realize it's so difficult. Over two thousand mouths to feed, over two thousand lives are in my hands."
"I'm really tired now."
"These burdens are so heavy that I don't have time to mourn father's death."
"Father's death saddens you, and I understand that, but we must look forward. The living still need to think about how to continue living."
"Besides, even though father is gone, you still have me, Kevon, Ken, and the others."
"Your love should not only belong to your husband but also to your sons and daughters. If you keep this up and wear yourself out, would you have us, who have just lost our father, also lose our mother?"
"If you think it through, eat your meal and stop worrying us. The tribe's affairs are already giving me a headache, and if you have problems too, are you trying to crush me?"
Corvinus finished speaking in a calm and steady manner, then turned to leave the room. As he reached the door, he glanced at his brother Kevon and said, "Go get something warm for mom."
"Yes, big brother!"
Kevon quickly nodded, looking at his twin brothers, Ken and Relk.
The three of them exchanged glances, all shocked because this was the first time they had seen their eldest brother lose his temper, and the target was their own mother.
Kevon was surprised but also hurried to prepare food for his mother.
Not only were they shocked, but the werewolf woman was also stunned.
Her son's first outburst was directed at her, and she felt wronged, a tear threatening to fall from the corner of her eye, but then she thought about her son's words and forced the tears back.
Although she felt wronged, her son was right.
Her husband was gone, but she still had her sons!
Especially now that Corvinus was the chieftain, she, as a mother, could not add unnecessary trouble for her son.
Thinking this through, the werewolf woman suddenly felt energized, looking at her sons and daughter standing at the door, she smiled.
"Jinny, come to mother."
The werewolf girl, Jinny, who was still confused, smiled and ran into the werewolf woman's arms.
"Mother, I want to be held too!"
"Okay, okay, mother will hold you both."
The werewolf woman held her son Kevin and daughter Jinny tightly in her arms.
Then she looked at her third son, Ken, and fourth son, Relk, who were standing at the door, and waved to them.
Ken and Relk walked over, and the werewolf woman touched their heads, feeling a bit distressed as she said, "It's mother's fault for worrying you all these days and making you feel wronged."
"It's okay, mom, just don't stop eating," Ken shook his head.
"Mother, the food is here, please eat it while it's still warm!" At this time, Kevon also brought in the food.
"Okay, thank you, Kevon!"
The werewolf woman took the food from Kevon with a smile.
Kevon, Ken, and Relk exchanged glances; their mother was better.
Big brother really had a way.
...
Regarding the matter of their mother getting better, Corvinus in his room was unaware.
Because at this moment, he was checking his system attribute board.
