The Bandit Gang

Kro and Baggin, the two commanders, as well as Lothar, looked at Corvinus with confusion.

They didn't understand the meaning behind the young chieftain's words.

"Everyone, what does our tribe lack right now?" Corvinus asked, noticing the three of them staring at him, clearly not grasping his meaning.

However, instead of explaining immediately, he glanced at the three of them and inquired further.

What did the tribe lack?

The three of them were taken aback simultaneously. Did it really need to be asked?

They lacked food!

"Does the chieftain mean?" Lothar realized his nephew wouldn't ask such a question without reason.

"Are we planning to attack the Liewa tribe?"

As soon as Lothar finished speaking, Kro and Baggin looked at him, but in an instant, they seemed to think of something and then turned their gazes to Corvinus.

Corvinus glanced at his second uncle, who was not a simple character; he possessed certain insights and wisdom.

"You're somewhat correct, but our tribe is not only short of food but also of people, of labor force."

"I don't plan to halt the tribe's land-clearing project, nor do I intend to stop the expansion of the animal pens. In fact, I have many plans for the tribe's development, but unfortunately, the Silvermane Tribe is just a small tribe with over two thousand werewolves, severely lacking in labor force."

"For a tribe with the potential to grow strong, lacking people is unacceptable."

"So, since we're short of people, our tribe should go out and seize them!"

After hearing this, the three of them were somewhat bewildered.

Was this an active declaration of war?

"Chieftain, our tribe is currently short of food. Isn't it a bad time to start a war?" Lothar looked at his nephew, feeling that his nephew's ideas were becoming increasingly outrageous.

The Liewa tribe was already preparing to join forces with other tribes to invade. The Silvermane Tribe should be thinking of ways to deal with this, but his nephew wanted to annex other tribes instead.

He really thought it was quite reckless.

"Moreover, even if we annex other tribes, it will only exacerbate the food crisis in the Silvermane Tribe," Lothar shook his head, clearly opposing this matter.

Kro and Baggin, although they were military commanders and naturally preferred battles, also believed that now was not the right time to annex other tribes.

Instead, they just needed to fend off the tribal coalition invasion.

"Precisely because the tribe is struggling now, we should take the opportunity to annex smaller tribes and strengthen the Silvermane Tribe's power."

Seeing his nephew's unwillingness to listen, Lothar asked directly, "What about the food? After annexing other tribes, how will we feed them?"

"Food is indeed a headache, which is why I plan to form a bandit gang while annexing other tribes," Corvinus said after pondering.

"A bandit gang?"

The three of them were stunned again. What kind of operation was this?

"The tribe currently can't get money from within, so we'll get it from outside. There are countless merchant camps in the wasteland, and the merchants traveling on the wasteland are as numerous as hairs on an ox."

"Who is the wealthiest in the wasteland? Of course, it's the merchants. Since that's the case, we'll form a bandit gang to rob them," Corvinus's words were astonishing.

Kro, Lothar, and the others were left dazed.

On the wasteland, what was the most detestable? Naturally, it was the bandit gangs. They were like roaming hyenas, hated by both free merchants and tribal merchants who traveled the wasteland.

Their chieftain wanted to form a bandit gang that everyone would call out to be eliminated.

If this were to be known by other tribes or nearby merchant camps, the Silvermane Tribe could be wiped out in an instant.

Bandit gangs on the wasteland, once discovered, could quickly attract the encirclement and suppression of numerous merchant caravans or professional mercenary groups.

"Chieftain, you must not form a bandit gang; it will only bring disaster to the tribe," Lothar said sternly, looking at his nephew Corvinus.

"Why not?"

"I know the dangers that bandit gangs bring, but they must be formed. The tribe works hard for a year and only saves a few dozen gold coins, but a single raid by the bandit gang could be worth ten times that."

"However, you can rest assured that I understand the dangers of bandit gangs, so the tribal bandit gang will sever all ties with the tribe, and the only connection is when they bring us gold coins," Corvinus said firmly.

He had thought long and hard about the bandit gang.

The tribe was really short of money, but relying on the tribe's meager sources of wealth, nothing could be accomplished.

As the saying goes, a horse doesn't get fat on night grass, and a man doesn't get rich without a windfall.

Wasn't forming a bandit gang to draw resources from the outside to support the tribe a good strategy?

Seeing his second uncle Lothar about to speak again, Corvinus quickly waved his hand: "You don't need to worry about the bandit gang. However, I've only told you three about this. I don't want a fourth person to know."

"Yes!"

Lothar felt a bit helpless; it seemed his nephew had made up his mind.

"Chieftain, since we've decided to annex other small tribes, let Kro and I take care of it," Baggin knew that once Corvinus made a decision, no one could dissuade him. Since that was the case, it was time for him, as a commander, to show his strength, so he quickly said respectfully.

"Do you have confidence?"

"Chieftain, I personally believe that the Liewa tribe's alliance to attack our tribe this time is not simple."

"Firstly, the Liewa tribe is weak, and now is a time of severe famine. Why would they take such a huge risk to attack our tribe?"

"If I were the chieftain of the Liewa tribe, I would never take such a risk."

"So, I think someone has offered some kind of price to facilitate this alliance, forcing these smaller tribes to take a gamble."

Corvinus listened to Kro's words and pondered for a moment before saying, "You make a valid point."

"Since you already have ideas, then the matter of annexing or dismantling this tribal alliance is handed over to you."

"Yes, I will definitely give the chieftain a satisfactory answer," Kro became excited upon seeing the young chieftain's agreement.

Lothar frowned as he looked at Kro.

He knew this commander had completely become his nephew's loyal follower, eager to prove himself.

His mind was somewhat chaotic because his nephew's two decisions were more shocking than the last. If they succeeded, it would be fine, but if they failed, the entire tribe could be ruined.

"Chieftain, since there's nothing else, I'll take my leave!"

"Oh!"

"Uncle, if you have something to do, you can go ahead."

"Commanders, please stay for a while longer, I have some matters to discuss with you."

"Yes!"

...

Lothar walked out of the council hall, feeling somewhat melancholic. When his elder brother was alive, nine out of ten decisions required his approval.

Now, times had changed, and his nephew was a complete autocrat, even he felt somewhat suffocated.
