After a quick breakfast and seeing Agif off, Corvinus headed to a nearby wine shop with a few pounds of wine.
"Hello, is your boss here?" Corvinus arrived at a large wine shop.
He had been here before!
It was one of the better-performing and larger wine shops.
"Hello, may I ask what you need?" The shop assistant looked up at Corvinus and asked.
The assistant was a very cute fox-woman.
"Well, I'm a wine merchant and I'd like to speak with your boss about something!" Corvinus said.
He naturally couldn't tell the truth. Claiming to be a wine merchant would likely increase his chances of meeting the boss.
Sure enough, the cute fox-woman assistant nodded and said, "Then please wait a moment while I call my father."
"Alright, thank you!"
Father?
So she was the boss's daughter!
Soon, the fox-woman boss emerged. Upon seeing Corvinus, he was somewhat surprised: "Customer, I remember you!"
Gando remembered the tall, distinguished werewolf who had bought wine here before and asked some rather naive questions.
"However, you're a wine merchant?" Gando looked Corvinus up and down. Wine merchants wouldn't ask such naive questions, would they?
Could he be a new, small-time wine merchant just arrived in Canyon City?
"Excuse me, could we talk inside? I am indeed a wine merchant and I'd like the boss to taste my wine," Corvinus said.
Gando nodded and gestured for him to come in.
As a wine shop merchant, he had seen many wine merchants like Corvinus who came to sell their wine. Although most of the wines offered by these merchants were not much different from the three types of wine he sold—mostly just price fluctuations—there were indeed some good wines among them.
His shop only had three types of wine, but if you got into the details, there were more than twenty varieties.
So upon hearing that Corvinus was a wine merchant, he wanted to meet him. If he found a good wine, he would snap it up immediately.
After all, he couldn't turn down money!
Soon, Corvinus was led into the backyard by the wine shop boss.
"Please have a seat. May I have your name?" Gando asked with a smile.
"My name is Corvinus!"
"Mr. Corvinus, since you're a wine merchant, may I taste your wine?" Gando nodded and asked.
There was no beating around the bush; only by tasting the wine could they have a real discussion.
"Of course!"
Seeing Corvinus's agreement, Gando called out, "Annie, bring in a bowl!"
A few seconds later, a shop assistant walked in with a bowl.
It was the boss's daughter.
Without saying much, Corvinus saw the fox-woman place the bowl on the coffee table, immediately got up, unscrewed the cap of the wooden wine flask on his body, and poured two ounces of wine.
The bowl wasn't very large, only able to hold two or three ounces.
"So fragrant, so clear!"
The exclamation came not from the wine shop boss, but from the fox-woman girl, whose cute face was now full of surprise.
Gando ignored his daughter and stared intently at the wine in the bowl, his nose unconsciously inhaling the wine aroma that filled the air.
He had been buying and selling wine for decades, and this was the first time he had seen such wine.
Clear as water!
If it weren't for the rich wine aroma, he would have thought it was just water.
What kind of wine is this?
A new variety of wine?
Gando looked at Corvinus.
Seeing Gando's puzzled face, Corvinus casually lifted his hand, signaling the other party to take a taste.
Gando exhaled, indeed, whether it was good wine or not, only a taste would tell.
To be honest, with such a rich wine aroma, it would be hard not to consider it good wine.
Gando picked up the wine bowl and as soon as it touched his lips, he heard Corvinus say, "This wine is very intoxicating. Drinking it all at once might be too much. Just take a small sip."
Gando nodded and took a sip.
"Whoa!"
As the wine hit his throat, a spiciness came through, but it was fleeting, quickly replaced by an incredibly mellow flavor that spread in his mouth.
"Excellent wine!"
"This is divine brew. I've sold wine for decades, drunk wine for decades, and I never expected to find such a divine brew," Gando looked at the wine in the bowl and exclaimed excitedly.
"Father, let me taste it!" The fox-woman girl was eager to try.
Gando nodded with a smile, then looked at Corvinus with a fiery gaze.
"Mr. Corvinus, my name is Gando Brand. You can call me Mr. Gando or Mr. Brand."
"I'd like to know, where does this wine come from?"
"No, no, that might be a bit offensive. I'd like to know how much of this wine is available. As long as the price is reasonable, I hope we can have a pleasant cooperation," Gando spoke incoherently.
"Actually, I am the brewer. This wine is brewed by me. I can produce as much as you want," Corvinus said with a smile.
Just now, he was the one asking; now, the boss across from him was the one pleading.
"Are you also a brewer?" Gando was shocked. He used a respectful term. Having a brewer sit in front of him was an honor.
Even Annie, the fox-woman girl tasting the wine, was staring at Corvinus in shock with her lovely eyes wide open.
Gando was well aware that a brewer was an intangible treasure trove, a talent that wine merchants would go to great lengths to attract.
"Boss Gando, this wine is five silver coins per pound. I wonder if we can cooperate?" Corvinus asked.
"Sure, sure, sure!" Gando nodded quickly.
Corvinus was willing to cooperate; he couldn't refuse. Compared to this new wine, the three types of wine he sold were like horse urine.
"However, I have a request!" Corvinus said with a smile.
"Go ahead!" Gando nodded.
"Well, this new wine, aside from you knowing about it, no one else does. So I'd like to ask you to help me contact some wine merchants or wine shop owners," Corvinus said.
Gando had been buying and selling wine for decades and should have some connections in the wine industry in Canyon City. Corvinus was planning to leverage Gando's network.
After all, going around to sell it himself would not only be time-consuming and laborious, but the results might not even be one-tenth of what this method could achieve.
Of course, if you want the horse to run, you have to feed it hay.
So Corvinus continued, "Whether it's a wine shop owner or a wine merchant, as long as you introduce five people to me, I'll let you buy rice wine from me at four silver coins per pound. If you introduce ten people, it'll be three silver coins, and if you introduce twenty people, it'll be two silver coins."
"And it's permanently valid!"
"Are you serious?" Gando initially had some reservations, but after hearing Corvinus's reward conditions, he was immediately tempted.
"Of course, I can write all of these into the cooperation contract."
"Alright, I'm in!"
...
It wasn't yet afternoon when Corvinus returned to the inn, holding a cooperation contract in his hand.
This was the contract he had finalized with Gando.
The cooperation had been established, and naturally, Corvinus wasn't going to idle around. He planned to go and purchase ten thousand pounds of rice in the afternoon. This time, he intended to brew ten thousand pounds.
However, as soon as he walked into the inn's lobby, he saw the figures of Agif and Fisher.
"Why are you here?" Agif was the first to spot him, and Corvinus asked with a smile.
This woman had been sent away by him just two hours ago, and now she was back.
"You ask him!" Agif walked over and linked her arm with Corvinus's, pointing at her brother Fisher.
"Fourth brother, what's going on?" Corvinus said with a smile.
He saw Fisher staring at him intently, his eyes filled with anger, excitement, and... resentment!
