Understanding the Tribe

Corvinus wasn't too surprised that his second mother and his own mother had grown closer. When his father was alive, his mother and second mother couldn't avoid competing for his father's affection, harboring mutual animosity and wariness. After all, women can be quite petty.

But now that his father was gone, with no one left to compete over, to put it bluntly, they had both become widows, people who could empathize with each other's plight.

Moreover, as the chieftain, Corvinus's second mother would naturally want to consider the future for herself and her children. She would want to actively mend her relationship with his mother.

Corvinus didn't take a stance on this. Although his second mother wasn't his birth mother, her children were his father's children, and thus his siblings. They were all one family.

Corvinus didn't want to interfere in family matters as long as things didn't get out of hand.

After a simple breakfast!

Corvinus headed towards the tribal hall.

Along the way, many tribespeople gathered around, likely because they had heard he had returned. Corvinus waved to each of them. In fact, judging from the continuous increase in his reputation as shown by the system, the tribespeople had already begun to wholeheartedly support him.

Because the tribespeople were so enthusiastic, and Corvinus didn't want to disappoint them, it took quite a while to get from his home to the tribal hall.

"Chief, welcome back to the tribe!"

As Corvinus ascended the steps, the two wolf guards stationed at the tribal hall greeted him with smiles and bowed respectfully.

"Thank you for your hard work!"

Corvinus was taken aback for a moment, then nodded and replied with a smile.

Entering the hall!

Instantly, six pairs of eyes fixed on him, following his every move.

"Chief!"

"Chief!"

...

Lothar, Reynolds, Kro, Bagen, Kowos, and Kodiac greeted Corvinus as he approached.

Corvinus nodded in acknowledgment and took his seat in the chieftain's chair, which he hadn't touched for over twenty days.

"You've all been waiting long, let's sit and talk!" Corvinus said with a smile.

Once everyone was seated, Corvinus looked at his second uncle Lothar and asked, "In the twenty-plus days I've been away, has the tribe encountered any issues?"

Lothar quickly stood up and said, "No, the tribe has been developing steadily. All four tribes' people have already moved into the newly built houses."

Corvinus gestured for his second uncle Lothar to sit down, then nodded and said, "That's good to hear!"

"By the way, how is the construction progress of the Warrior Temple?" Corvinus inquired, thinking of the tribe's current largest project.

"The foundation has been laid. As you know, the tribe's workforce is limited, so the construction progress is slow," Lothar explained.

"I understand," Corvinus nodded, not saying much more. The construction of the Warrior Temple was a massive undertaking and indeed required time.

"What about the military?" Corvinus shifted his gaze from his second uncle Lothar to Kro and Bagen, the two military leaders.

Kro glanced at Bagen, then stood up and bowed respectfully to Corvinus, saying, "As per your request, we have recruited five hundred warriors from the four tribes. Currently, the army has expanded to one thousand one hundred and eighty-seven warriors."

"At the same time, we have equipped them with javelins and ballistae from the forge, and the military's strength has been significantly enhanced."

"Ballistae?"

"Has Quinn already manufactured the ballistae?" Corvinus was somewhat surprised, but upon reflection, it seemed normal. With the blueprints for the ballistae and Quinn being an intermediate craftsman, it was easy to produce them in a short time.

"They were manufactured half a month ago. Although these weapons are large in size, their power is immense, making them a very formidable weapon of war."

"Currently, three have been handed over to the army," Kro said.

The first time he saw the power of the ballista, he was stunned. The weapon was terrifying. If there were enough of them, they would be killing machines.

"Three already?"

"By the way, what are the specific details of the ballistae?" Corvinus asked.

Kro thought for a moment and said, "Based on more than ten tests, the maximum range can reach seven hundred meters, but the lethality is strongest at five hundred meters. We have conducted tests, shooting at wooden stakes wearing iron armor with crossbow bolts, which can easily penetrate the iron armor, and even pierce through it. The power is very terrifying."

Upon hearing this, Corvinus nodded. In his previous life during the cold weapon era, ballistae had always played an important role, whether in city defense or plain counterattacks, the lethality of such weapons was very considerable.

"Chief Guard, that is, the Second Wolf Cavalry, twenty-seven warriors were left in Casros Canyon by me, so I selected twenty-seven wolf warriors to join and restore it to full strength," Corvinus said to Kro.

"Yes, sir!"

Kro nodded respectfully.

"Also, that boar man Gava and his boar men, all temporarily assigned to the Chief Guard," last night when returning to the tribe, Corvinus had already asked Lothar to arrange for Gava and his men to rest in the parade ground barracks.

As the military leader, Kro should be aware.

"Yes, sir!" Kro nodded, he indeed knew, because when he saw Gava and his men yesterday, he was quite surprised.

He had seen boar men, but that was more than ten years ago.

"By the way, Uncle, has the tribe received a group of jackalmen coming to join?" Corvinus suddenly remembered the batch of over a hundred jackalmen he had sent to the tribe when he recruited the boar man Gava.

"Jackalmen?" Lothar was taken aback, then shook his head and said, "I haven't seen any jackalmen."

Corvinus was puzzled. Had those jackalmen not come, or had something happened on the way?

Never mind, just a group of jackalmen, it's not a big deal.

Soon, the matter of the jackalmen was cast out of Corvinus's mind.

Corvinus's gaze fell on Kowos and Kodiac, the two werewolves.

One was in charge of farming, and the other was involved in animal husbandry.

These two areas were currently the most important for the Silver Mane Tribe.

Kodiac and Kowos glanced at each other, and finally Kowos stood up first, bowed respectfully to Corvinus, and said, "Chief, currently the cultivated land has been reclaimed to more than two thousand six hundred acres, of which more than two thousand four hundred acres have all been planted with sweet potatoes and potatoes."

"Moreover, one thousand acres of rye are expected to be harvested in half a month, and then they can all be planted with sweet potatoes and potatoes."

"Good job, continue with the reclamation plan. The tribe needs more arable land," Corvinus looked at Kowos, his eyes showing appreciation.

Kowos indeed hadn't disappointed him.

Although the current arable land area had reached three thousand seven hundred acres, Corvinus was still not satisfied.

Three thousand seven hundred acres meant that the tribe had an average of about one acre of land per tribesperson.

But this was far from enough. At least in his vision, the standard should be ten acres of land per tribesperson.

That is to say, the current arable land of the tribe should reach nearly forty thousand acres to be satisfactory.

So, the reclamation plan still had a long way to go.

"Also, I brought back some crop seeds and fruit tree seeds from Canyon City. After the meeting, I'll hand them over to you. You should designate a piece of land to plant them," Corvinus thought for a moment and said.

He had indeed collected some fruit tree seeds and some strange crop seeds, and also a part of the fruit tree seedlings he had purchased from the store, such as apples, oranges, peaches, and so on, there were dozens of kinds.
