Chapter 4

After Lavender and I we were chosen, only one woman was left behind. She was later exchanged for other spoils by the King Blackwood of Water.

The woman's name was Estrella. Like me, she studied karate, and we even shared a dorm room in college.

If it weren't for her presence in the survivor group, I would've been done for thanks to that mop Lavender.

To be honest, choosing the second-in-command was partly due to this ulterior motive.

Given King Blackwood of Water's superior abilities compared to the other King Blackwood, if I stuck with second-in-command, he'd surely want another woman.

This way, both Estrella and I could be in this zombie horde, giving me a reliable ally.

Initially, she was assigned to the third zombie group, where she was tortured to death not long after, then reduced to food and eaten.

Whether for the sake of cooperation or friendship, I wanted to save her this time.

As for Lavender, let her gloat all she wants. She'll soon realize how tough life can be in the horde.

That King Blackwood of Fire stands half a head taller than King Blackwood of Water, with a body of solid muscle. Looking at his body, he had an impressive eight-pack and V-line, with a perfect physique and a face that wasn't ugly. But the massive size difference could drive her to the death.

That thing would hurt worse than childbirth.

Moreover, the King Blackwood of Fire only retained a small part of his humanity and was extremely vicious. How good could he possibly be to her?

As for why I didn't choose the third King Blackwood, it's because that was the force that originally absorbed the King Blackwood of Water's horde.

That King Blackwood's awakened ability was to release a paralyzing venom.

He relied entirely on sneak attacks in fights, being ruthless and treacherous, but actually not very capable. He would later be absorbed by other hordes as well.

Besides our city, there were many zombie hordes in the surrounding areas.

Well, mainly because that Venomous One's appearance was truly indescribable - a sickly green color from dying of poisoning, like moldy seaweed.

With a triangular head and beady eyes, he was completely bestial. Estrella didn't last more than a few days in his clutches back then.

Lavender later fell into his hands and suffered terribly too.

That Venomous One didn't say anything when we left, just smiled with a sinister gaze.

He had no objections to the allocation of the only three women. Because he had been planning to merge with other zombie hordes for a long time, obtaining all the spoils was just a matter of time.

In his previous life, he had indeed succeeded. When the King Blackwood of Fire was expanding his influence outward, he would take the opportunity to ambush the King Blackwood of Water's zombie horde.

But this time, with me around, I'm afraid his plans will fall through.

The King Blackwood of Water isn't too vicious, and he's rather simple-minded. He wants to reproduce, and back then, he wasn't too harsh on Lavender.

So as long as Estrella doesn't resist or anger him, she shouldn't be in immediate danger.

In this past year of the apocalypse, our pride has long since been worn away. Survival is what matters most.

Estrella's situation is okay. Her period is just in time, helping her dodge a bullet.

The King Blackwood of Water is a real man too. Even after turning into a zombie, he still retains a bit of that gentlemanly nature.

I told Estrella about the second-in-command was Dane. Her expression was... hard to describe.

She knows about the grudge between Dane and me. Back then, I cursed him for days in our dorm room.

He used to be a senior, but now in this situation, even if he were my own brother, it wouldn't make a difference.

In the apocalyptic era, humanity has long since been extinguished. Later, I mentioned that the Venomous One would be coming to ambush us soon.

Of course, I said it in a speculative tone, suggesting that we might have a chance to escape when the time comes.

Estrella was worried that we wouldn't be able to get out, and still hoped I could have a good talk with Dane.

So that night, I crept to the edge of the bed, but before I could even open my mouth, I was pinned down like a piglet.

After turning into a zombie, Dane had become an agility-type player, quick as lightning. In front of him, I was like a weakling.

"What's up? Want to match a bit?"
