Damien let out a cold laugh.
"If only you'd been this sensible earlier. The kid wouldn't have had to suffer."
"I want five hundred grand... no, make it a million!" Damien, seeing my concern for our daughter, boldly upped his demand.
Hearing his words, I started trembling all over.
A million dollars? Where on earth would I get that kind of money?
Noticing my hesitation, Damien pressed the knife harder against our daughter's neck, as if ready to use force.
Watching my daughter's little face turn red, my heart clenched.
"No, no, no! I'll do it! I'll do it!"
"But I can only get two hundred grand right now. I'll give you all of it. Just let our daughter go, please?"
"Take me as your hostage instead."
Damien shook his head. "No way! I'm not letting her go without the full million! Who knows if you'll just run off again!"
Seeing his stubborn refusal, my anger flared up again. "Fine, then kill me first! Go ask whoever you want for the money!"
