Chapter 6

I left home in an excellent mood, heading to the school gate to pick up my daughter.

When my daughter saw me, she came bounding over, leaping into my arms for a big hug.

I held her tight and spoke softly, "Daisy, Mommy needs to tell you something."

The words caught in my throat, unsure if I should tell such a young child about life and death.

Seeing my serious expression, she looked at me with a mature gaze beyond her years.

I took a deep breath, knowing she'd have to find out sooner or later.

"Daddy is very sick and might not live much longer. Also, Daddy did something to hurt Mommy, and Mommy doesn't plan to forgive him."

"Daisy will be living with Mommy from now on. Can you accept that?"

As I continued speaking, my heart bled more and more, fearing she might cry and throw a tantrum for her father.

However, upon hearing this news, not only was my daughter not upset, but she even smiled.
