SHARE A ROOM

As I stepped into the house , I was taken aback. It wasn't at all what I had envisioned. I had dreaded moving in with Ruth , imagining a chaotic, cold place. But instead, I found warmth and charm.

The small garden at the entrance caught my attention immediately, filled with blooming white roses glowing softly in the sunlight. Inside, the living room was cozy, with a wooden center table covered with kente cloth and adorned by a vase of fresh flowers. The place smellt good, The scent resembling sandalwood.A cream colored sofa rested against the wall, and a large Tv hung on the opposite side, adding a modern touch.

To my left was a simple dining table, and beyond it, a quaint little kitchen. I let out a quite hum of admiration , " It's beautiful."

Uncle James smiled. " feel at home."

The words were comforting, but deep down, I knew I wouldn't feel at home here–not with Ruth

"You'll have to share Ruth's room for now," uncle James said pulling me back to reality."I'll work on clearing out the guest room soon."

I froze. Sharing a house with Ruth was already nerve–wracking enough, but sharing a room? My stomach churned at the thought. I wanted to protest, but I didn't have the right. Uncle James had opened his home to me, and I couldn't risk sounding ungrateful.

Swallowing my unease, I managed a smile. "Yes , Uncle. I'll share a room with Ruth until the guest room is ready."

As the words left my mouth, I shivered at the thought of spending a room with Ruth every night. Something about Ruth always unsettled me.
