I picked up my phone and played, "I look to you." One of my favorite American gospel songs. I had a collection of them on my phone, and in that moment, the familiar melodies offered me some comfort.
Lying flat on the floor, tears streamed down my face. "I need your help LORD. It's all overwhelming. If I lose anyone else, I'll loose myself. I only have Uncle James and Ruth left. You are a GOD of justice–please intervene and strengthen me. I'm starting to loose hope. With everything unraveling, I just can't hold it anymore. Please show me the way, LORD! Show me the way so all this torment can end." I sobbed, pleading for GOD's intervention, my heart aching.
Then I saw a very bright light, a foot glowing on the floor. I stood up, startled, and took a step toward it. As I looked at the light, it spoke to me in a voice that soothed my very soul.
"Have Patience, dear. Remember in Jeremiah 29:11, GOD said, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.' There are times when you may feel lost, when GOD's presence seems distant, but I assure you, He is guiding you. That's HIS closest moments. All things work together for they that love GOD. Continue trusting and obeying him, and he will make your paths straight."
The light vanished as soon as the voice faded, leaving me standing in awe. My heart swelled with joy and peace. I knew in that moment that GOD had heard me. The voice, the calm breeze, everything about it was a reminder that I was not alone. GOD was with me, guiding me through the storm.
I walked downstairs, finding Uncle James reading his Bible in the couch. Sitting beside him, I took a deep breath before speaking.
"I'm sorry for being rash earlier, Uncle. I was just so overwhelmed by everything happening, and I thought I had to carry this burden alone." I looked at him with sincerity. "But I realize now that GOD is with us, guiding us, and I need to trust Him."
Uncle James closed his Bible and smiled warmly. "It's alright dear. I understand. I know you feel pressured because you think you're the cause of everything. You care deeply for your family, and that's a beautiful thing. But remember, even in danger, we are still family, still bound together in love. Just trust in GOD Anaya. He know's Ruth's innocence, and He will guide us to put an end to Assey's plans. I'm also sorry for yelling at you earlier."
His words were a balm to my weary heart. I nodded, overcome with gratitude, and wrapped my arms around him in a tight hug.
Thank you, Uncle. I will," I whispered.
