The dim lights of Yoongi's abandoned lab flickered as the team geared up for their mission. The air was thick with tension—Jennie was in grave danger, and every second counted. Namjoon, Yoongi, Jungkook, Yeonjun, and Kai stood near the exit, checking their weapons and communication devices.
Lisa stood at the back, her arms crossed, her expression unreadable. She had been left out of this mission due to her injury, and Namjoon made it clear she wasn't coming. Jungkook had been particularly harsh, scolding her in front of everyone, but Lisa had refused to show any reaction.
Jungkook cast a final glance at Lisa before stepping onto the transport. His brows furrowed, as if he wanted to say something, but instead, he scoffed and looked away.
"Don't do anything reckless," Namjoon warned Lisa, his voice carrying a clear warning.
Lisa smirked, giving them a mock salute. "Wouldn't dream of it."
Lisa watched them disappear into the darkness. The transport roared to life and disappeared into the dark streets, leaving only dust behind.
As soon as they were gone, Lisa turned to BIBI with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "I did something!!"
BIBI raised an eyebrow. "That's never a good start. What do you mean?"
Lisa walked to a darkened corner of the lab and, with a few swift movements, revealed a hidden storage unit. Inside lay a motionless body—Taeyong. The same AI who had betrayed them, the one who had leaked their location to the Overseers.
BIBI's eyes widened. "Lisa… How? When? What did you do?"
Lisa leaned against the unit, arms crossed. "Before we left the last mission site, I pulled him out of the transport. Couldn't let him wake up and report to the Overseers again, could I?"
BIBI stared at her, stunned. "And you saved the records of him leaking our information?"
Lisa smirked, tossing a data chip in the air before catching it. "Every last bit."
For a moment, BIBI was speechless before she sighed and shook her head. "You're reckless, but this was smart."
Lisa shrugged. "I saved the recording of him leaking our location. If we can disable his system, we can at least delay the Overseers from using him again."
BIBI exhaled, glancing at the screen. "Fine. Let's do it."
Together, they worked quickly, disabling Taeyong's system so he wouldn't wake up. They moved quickly, working on disabling Taeyong's internal system so he wouldn't regain consciousness. After a few minutes, the system shut down, rendering him completely inactive.
Meanwhile, at the High Quarter…
At the High Quarter of the Overseers, Jennie sat motionless in a cold, white room. Screens surrounded her, flashing with data about her existence. Her fate was being decided by AI superiors, their robotic voices echoing around her.
"The system is erasing me," she whispered, staring at the flashing warnings on the monitor. The Overseers had grown suspicious of her. No matter how much she tried to convince them that she was loyal, the AI suspected otherwise. She had two choices—betray the oversheers and joined Namjoon's team for real or be erased from existence.
A group of high-ranking Overseers stood before her, their glowing eyes fixed on her like predators assessing their prey.
"You have been compromised," one of them stated coldly. "Your data shows signs of irregularities. The probability of your betrayal has increased."
Jennie's breath hitched. "That's not true! I have done nothing against the Overseers."
"You have been in contact with rebels. You allowed them to access classified data. You were once valuable, but your allegiance is questionable," one of the Overseers declared.
"I have no reason to betray you," Jennie insisted, keeping her voice steady.
"You have been in contact with rebels. You allowed them to access classified data."
"I didn't!" Jennie's voice rose, desperation lacing her words. "I have always been loyal!"
But they weren't convinced. The decision was made. She was to be erased.
Jennie clenched her fists as the mechanical arms around her activated, preparing to transport her to a secure chamber for deletion.
Her protests fell on deaf ears. With a silent command, the Overseers activated security protocols. The floor beneath her shifted, and before she could react, the walls around her tightened, enclosing her in a secret chamber.
She was locked away, completely isolated.
Just then, the alarms blared.
The oversheers' eyes darted to the security feed. Namjoon, Jungkook, Yoongi, Yeonjun, and Kai had arrived.
Jennie inhaled sharply. "They're here…"
The Overseers reacted instantly. The system locked her inside a secret chamber, sealing every possible escape route.
Back outside…
Namjoon's team had reached the High Quarter. The towering AI-controlled fortress loomed over them, its security system nearly impenetrable. They hid in the shadows, whispering among themselves.
"We need an access point," Yoongi muttered.
Namjoon and his team crouched in the shadows of the High Quarter's towering infrastructure, whispering about their entry plan.
"The system here is way too complex," Yoongi muttered. "Lisa usually handles this part."
Namjoon sighed. "We'll figure it out."
A robotic voice echoed through the area: "Unauthorized presence detected. Eliminating threats."
Everything turned chaotic.
But before they could make a move, alarms blared. The Overseers already knew they were there.
"Sh*t!" Kai hissed.
"We don't have time," Namjoon said. "Move now!"
The moment they breached the next door, alarms blared, and a swarm of Overseer guards stormed in. The fight was immediate and brutal.
A wave of Overseer guards attacked, their enhanced AI bodies moving with terrifying precision. The battle was brutal—Jungkook, Kai, and Yeonjun fought fiercely, but the team struggled without Lisa's expertise.
Jungkook took down three guards with swift, precise movements, but even he was beginning to struggle. Namjoon had a cut across his cheek, Yeonjun was limping, and Kai had taken a hit to the ribs.
Worse, there was no sign of Jennie.
"We're running out of time!" Jungkook shouted.
Lisa's Secret Mission
Back in the lab, BIBI finally retired to rest after hours of work. Lisa took this opportunity to slip away.
She activated her wrist device, bringing up the live footage of the drone she had sent to track the team. Her eyes narrowed as she saw the mission unfolding in real time. The team was struggling. The High Quarter's security was tighter than they had expected.
Lisa clenched her jaw. "Idiots," she muttered under her breath before moving toward Yoongi's old transport.
If they thought she was going to sit this one out, they didn't know her at all.
At the same time…
The team was cornered.
Jungkook wiped blood from his forehead, his breath ragged. The Overseer guards were stronger, faster. They couldn't keep up.
Jungkook took a hit on his shoulder, hissing in pain, but continued fighting. Yoongi and Yeonjun covered Kai as he tried to hack into the control panel, but nothing was working.
They had no trace of Jennie. No access to the security systems. And their injuries were getting worse.
On The Other Hand....
Lisa arrived undetected, using the secret underground passage she had memorized from stolen blueprints.
She bypassed the security with ease and entered the control room. Her fingers flew over the keyboard as she hacked into the High Quarter's data system.
A smirk tugged at her lips. "Let's shake things up."
Back on the battlefield...
Things had gone from bad to worse. Namjoon's team was cornered, bruised, and exhausted. The Overseer guards surrounded them, weapons aimed.
Surrender was their only option.
Just as Namjoon was about to give the command, everything suddenly went dark.
The machines beeped loudly, error codes flashing across their interfaces. The Overseers froze in place, completely disabled. Every single machine shut down. Darkness swallowed the battlefield.
The Overseer guards froze. Their glowing red eyes flickered, their limbs locking in place. The entire High Quarter's system had crashed.
"What the hell?" Jungkook whispered.
Namjoon's eyes widened. "What the—?"
Yoongi smirked and thought. "This Data jam isn't functional!!!…"
Namjoon didn't waste a second. "Move! Now!"
The team wasted no time. With the AI security frozen, they ran through the corridors, breaking into the restricted areas.
Namjoon spotted a door marked with security codes—this had to be it.
Kai and Yeonjun kicked it open, but there was no sign of Jennie.
Everyone shattered quickly and found Jennie aggressively.
The beep of the machines started to slow down and they understood that the security system rebooted.
Taking advantage of the chaos, the team bolted, escaping through the nearest exit.
"Move, move!" Yeonjun yelled.
They barely made it out, running into the darkness of the city.
At The same time Inside the Control Room…
Lisa smirked as she hacked into the High Quarter's Data System. She had jammed the entire network.
She pulled up Jennie's location. A secret chamber.
"Got you," she whispered.
Minutes later…
Lisa ran through the darkened hallways, heading straight for the chamber. She found Jennie, slumped in the corner, unconscious.
"She is unconscious because of the Data jam!" Lisa muttered, while disabling her main control and disconnecting her from the head querter.
"No time for questions." Lisa lifted Jennie into a wheelchair, quickly pushing her toward the exit.
Back at the old lab … The Shocking Return & Jungkook's Rage
They crashed into Yoongi's old lab, exhausted. Every member collapsed onto the furniture or floor, panting.
For a moment, everything was silent.
"That was a disaster," Kai groaned, pressing a hand to his ribs.
Namjoon exhaled heavily. "We need to rethink everything. This mission—"
Then Namjoon frowned. "Where's Lisa?"
Everyone exchanged glances.
The team staggered inside, exhausted.
BIBI sighed. "She was here earlier. We were disabling Taeyong's system, then she was just… gone."
Jungkook's expression darkened. His jaw clenched, his hands tightening into fists. "She went after us, didn't she?"
"Calm down," Yoongi said, but Jungkook was already furious.
"She's reckless! She doesn't listen! I told her to stay out of this!"
Yeonjun tried to intervene. "Maybe we should just—"
BIBI cut in. "I already tried to contact her. No response."
Jungkook's anger boiled over. "She's going to get herself killed!"
"Calm down," Yoongi said, though his voice lacked confidence.
"Calm down?" Jungkook's voice rose. "She's out there alone! If something happens to her—"..."that reckless idiot—"
Before he could finish, the lab doors burst open.
Lisa stormed in, breathing heavily, her clothes slightly torn, her arm bleeding from a deep gash. Dirt and dried blood smudged her face, but her eyes shone with victory.
Behind her, a wheelchair rolled in, carrying an unconscious figure.
The room fell silent.
Jennie.
Everyone's jaws dropped.
Jungkook's eyes widened. "No. Freaking. Way."
Lisa smirked, wiping sweat from her forehead. "Miss me?"
Namjoon stood up, shaking his head in disbelief. "How the hell did you—?"
Lisa pushed the wheelchair forward, looking entirely too smug. "I told you I don't take orders well."
Jungkook exploded. "ARE YOU INSANE?! You went alone?! AGAIN?!"
Lisa crossed her arms. "Well, someone had to clean up your mess."
Jungkook's anger intensified. He stepped forward, but Yoongi grabbed his arm, stopping him.
BIBI sighed, rubbing her temples. "You're all going to be the death of me."
Namjoon stared at Lisa, then at Jennie, then back at Lisa.
Finally, he chuckled. "I don't know whether to scold you or thank you."
Lisa winked. "Both?"
Namjoon sighed. "Welcome back, Lisa."
And for the first time since the war started, it felt like they had won something.
Jungkook turned away, muttering curses under his breath.
Yoongi smirked at BIBI. "Told you there was something between those two."
Lisa crossed her arms, tilting her head. "So? Do I get a thank you or not?"
Jungkook, still seething with anger, stormed up to her. But the moment he got a closer look at her injuries, his expression darkened even more.
"You're injured." His voice was low, dangerous.
Lisa raised a brow. "And?"
Jungkook clenched his jaw, his fists tightening. "And you're an idiot. You went in there alone, you hacked their system, and you fought your way out—while injured?"
Lisa shrugged. "It got the job done."
Jungkook's nostrils flared. "You're unbelievable! Do you even care about yourself?"
Lisa smirked, but there was exhaustion in her eyes. "Not really."
That was it. That was the final straw. Jungkook turned away abruptly, running a hand through his hair in frustration. He was angry. No—he was furious.
But beneath the fury, there was something else.
Something he didn't want to acknowledge.
Lisa had saved them all. Again. And she had done it while risking her own life.
And it drove him insane.
To be continued…
