The moment Ryusaki opened his mouth to tell Reina the story he had come up with, something shifted. His head buzzed as his senses sharpened, and his eyes grew still—fixated as if bracing for an unseen terror. Then it happened. Everyone's phones started ringing simultaneously, filling the air with the same chilling notification.
[Ravadon Invasion Alert! Evacuate to safe zone]
************
Humans existed within a certain space— a dimension which is scientifically called ELVASIL. However, Elvasil wasn't alone. Under the influence of 'Absolute Timeline', multiple dimensions co-existed parallel to Elvasil. And these dimensions harbored their own species— some resembled to human, some closer to monsters or catastrophic beasts. Scientists in Elvasil referred these species as successive 'Race Value'.
Nearly a century ago, an unprecedented event occurred termed as an overload— shifting of a massive energy, in the dimensional perimeters.
The event forced the dimensions into an unstable phase, causing them to converge. Ultimately the distance among the successive dimensions shortened— allowing a neighbouring dimension, Drakasil to drift dangerously close to Elvasil, causing their dimensional boundaries to collapse with each other.
The consequences were catastrophic. Dimensional Wormholes began forming over the world frequently, creating a passage for a specific monstrous beings to invade Human dimension. They were infamous as Ravadon— menacing race of Drakasil, and quickly earned a reputation as harbingers of destruction.
The alert message was a safety protocol implemented by the international government to notify people within the radius of five miles about the Wormhole formation. The alert on Ryusaki's and everyone else's phones meant only one thing—a wormhole was forming in the heart of Shibuya.
The streets of Shibuya, usually bustling with life, froze for a brief. Chaos erupted as terror ran through everyone's spine, creating a mass-panic among themselves.
Screams filled the air as people dropped everything and ran. Some drove cars crazily, and tried to go as far as they could. However a common goal was in everyone's mind— heading for the bunkers scattered underground through out the city. It could withstand the marching of the coming havoc.
Nearby military facilities sprang into action, deploying troops to assist in the evacuation. Since the invasions were a common phenomena, Japanese Government had established emergency measures, including strategically placed military outposts.
There still remained some time left for the Ravadons to invade after formation of the massive wormhole just above Shibuya Scramble Square, making the entire area deserted within minutes.
***********
The café where Ryusaki and Reina had been enjoying their times together— more or less, was only within a mile from the Wormhole. Luckily a safe zone— underground evacuation bunker, was nearby too.
The café erupted Into chaos as customers abandoned their meals and ran. Even the staff, fled without a second thought. Mira went along with her co-workers. After all, everyone was up to save their lives.
That wasn't exceptional for Ryusaki either. He grabbed Reina's hand tightly and stood, ready to lead her out. But just as they reached the door, his phone buzzed with another notification.
[Ravadon category: S8. Location: Shibuya Scramble Square. ETA: Ten minutes. Need your assistance as fast as possible]
'S8? Are you kidding me?' He thought, glancing at his phone screen, 'And why is this happening nearby? The appearance of Wormholes are less than 1% around Shibuya over the decades.'
His eyebrows twitched as he halted, so as Reina. She couldn't understand his sudden hesitation. So she tugged on his hand.
"What're you doing?" She yelled, her tone thick with panic, "Why did you stop? We need to go. The safe zone will close soon."
"I'm sorry Reina." He said softly. His grip loosened as he unhanded her. Guilt to leave Reina on her own and concerns for the Ravadon Invasion, clouded his eyes. So, he tried to convince, "You'll have to evacuate on your own. I need to go. I have be somewhere else."
He turned, putting the phone back to his pocket. He prepared to head towards the opposite direction of the safe zone— towards the Wormhole.
Reina's face fell, her panic giving way to confusion and fear. She grabbed his sleeve, desperation in her trembling voice.
"I'm not letting you go! I don't care where you think you have to be—it can't be more important than your life!"
He looked into her innocent eyes— the eyes that made him fall for the girl standing before him. His heart wavered for moment. However, his resolves were determined. Despite how much he wanted to stay with her, he couldn't. Instead, his face slowly came close to hers, and gently kissed her, puting his hands on her shoulders.
"I'm sorry Reina. But it is." He replied, genltly removing his hands from her shoulders. "You wanted to know why I sustained these injuries right?"
He touched his forehead, indicating the deep cut mark. Reina looked bewildered, incapable of comprehending what he tried to mean yet blushed with bright red cheek as she nodded.
"The thing is I am actually the….."
Her blush faded away as he told her the truth. She looked surprisingly shocked. She couldn't believe what she heard. The whole situation felt unreal to her.
Soon, a gas explosion took place with a deafening sound as a Ravadon, nearly twenty-foot, landed in the middle of Shibuya Scramble Square from the sky— from the wormhole, followed by several other Ravadons nearly half of its size. Their unison scream created a deafening shockwave, breaking all the nearby glasses.
The tallest Ravadon looked like Kaiju— the monsters of the myths, yet his appearance was slightly distinct. He probably was the leader.
He was covered In jade-black scales, each as hard as diamond. His muscular frame bore the scars of countless battles. His glowing red eyes gleamed with pure malice. Fangs sharper than blades jutted from his maw, and his crocodile-like tail whipped through the air, smashing into the ground.
This particular Ravadon was categorised as a Supernova Type-8— or S8s to be short. And Among his kind, supernovas were not only powerful but highly intelligent, capable of communication in their incomprehensible tongue. Their threat level increases down the number of their type.
While on the other hand, its subordinates— the Ravadon about half of his size. Their physique looked similar to a weak and thin human, yet they could be the reason of mass causalities. They were enveloped with dark-slimy skin, not hard as the big one. And they had multiple tentacles on their backs. Though they had drooling mouths, they didn't posses any eyes.
This category was identified by the scientists as Annihilator Type-1 or A1s for short— known for their terrifying coordination. They could inflict mass casualties with ease..
Aside from A1 there was also A2 who looked much like saber-tooth wild animals, they also held the same threat as the A1s. However, They didn't come this time around.
**************
The A1s wasted no time, destroying everything in sight—cars, stalls, shops—leaving nothing but ruin in their wake.
While the big one— the S8, destroyed a nearby building just with a single swing of his tail, causing an immense explosion that snatched Ryusaki attention.
He looked at the destruction, standing about a mile from the chaos. Few peoples were still out there. They screamed, hearing the explosions as the passed the cafe by.
Soon the firing of the military took place from the choppers flying around the city. Other troops arrived, carrying their weapons, and remained on stand-by. Their motive was to keep the rampage of the Ravadon at bay until the arrival of the elite defensive force— the EDFJ.
"Ryusaki!" Reina's voice snapped him back. Her face was pale, her eyes wide with fear. "This isn't time for a practical joke like that. Let's just evacuate already and I promise I won't ask you for any reason."
"Listen, Reina." He held her hands, looked straight into her eyes, and said it again, "It's the truth. I am the Vice Commander of EDFJ. And I need to go to stop their advancements at any cost."
She stared at him speechlessly. Her lips parted, but all that came out was a trembling,
"Eh—?"
