The room buzzed with the typical blend of casual conversation and the occasional heated exchange. Jay couldn't help but notice Skyler, one of his colleagues, lounging with his feet propped up on the table, a sight that clearly grated on Jay's nerves. Merlin sipped his tea at a leisurely pace, as if the weight of ages rested on his shoulders. Meanwhile, Yami was slouched low in his chair, a smirk playing on his lips, as if this meeting was the high point of his existence.
So," Jay said, rubbing his temples. "Can you remind me why we're having this meeting at all?"
"Because you love making speeches," Skyler responded without skipping a beat.
Jay shot him a glare. "I don't give speeches."
"Debatable," Parker muttered.
Chun and Zhang exchanged amused glances while Alexia sighed. "Look, Jay's right to be annoyed. We don't even have a clear reason for gathering. No prophecies, no disasters we haven't already dealt with… honestly, this feels unnecessary."
Cain stretched his arms. "We could just turn this into a drinking night instead."
Zhen took a slow sip of his tea. "That would be more productive."
Merlin set his cup down and raised an eyebrow. "And what exactly are we celebrating? That nothing bad has happened yet?"
Yami grinned. "Exactly. I say we enjoy the quiet while it lasts."
The room fell into a comfortable silence. It really did feel like things were fine. No pressing danger, no sense of doom—just another day.
But outside of this chamber, far beyond their sight, something else was unfolding.
The Unknown Threat – The Abyssal Elemental Lords
Far beneath the surface of the world, in a place untouched by light, the Abyss stirred.
They had been waiting. Watching.
Not for an opportunity. Not for a weakness.
Simply for the right moment to take what was already theirs.
A voice like crackling embers rumbled through the darkness. "The mortals sit in their towers, pretending they hold dominion over the world."
Fire erupted in the endless abyss, illuminating a figure wreathed in molten fury.
Infernos – The Tyrant of Ashes.
Another voice, cold and slow like the crushing depths, followed. "Their arrogance is their greatest flaw. And their downfall."
Waves surged in the abyss, revealing the vast form of a godlike leviathan.
Aegir – The Abyssal Leviathan.
A whispering laugh cut through the void, light as air yet filled with cruel amusement. "Oh, but where's the fun if they don't suffer first?"
Wind howled as a figure flickered in and out of sight, never fully solid.
Zenile – The Phantom Gale.
A heavy stomp echoed, shaking the abyss itself. "They do not yet understand. But they will."
The ground split apart, revealing an unmovable force.
Gairos – The Earthbreaker.
Then, a deafening crack of thunder tore through the silence. Arcs of wild lightning surged, illuminating a figure wreathed in raw power.
Voltaris – The Lord of Ruinous Storms.
For too long, the world had forgotten what it meant to fear the elements.
