Then, without warning—
He grabbed her by the waist.
Lidia yelped, gripping his shoulders as he lifted her clean off the horse, as if she weighed nothing.
Then he unceremoniously dropped her onto the ground, stepping back as if he wanted to put as much distance between them as possible.
Lidia stumbled slightly, barely catching herself before she face-planted into the dirt.
She scowled.
"That was hardly gentle."
The knight ignored her again, turning to tend to the horse like she was no longer his problem.
Lidia huffed, brushing imaginary dust off her clothes.
She would let it slide.
For now.
Her feet finally touched solid ground, and that was a miracle in itself.
Now, she just had to figure out how to regain feeling in her legs. Which, judging by the way her muscles screamed in protest, would take a while.
