Lidia smacked her lips, letting the taste settle on her tongue before nodding in satisfaction.

"Much better."

She grinned, pleased with her own culinary genius, completely unaware of the way the knight was staring at her—stiff and utterly unmoving, like he was waiting for her to suddenly drop dead.

Even the horse had stopped chewing.

Its dark eyes were locked onto her, its ears perked forward in what could only be described as… anticipation.

The horse's lips curled slightly at the edges, the faintest hint of amusement in its expression, as if it were already imagining the thrill of this tiny human finally keeling over and meeting her end.

Lidia took another sip.

The horse's ears flicked.

She licked her lips.

The horse watched.
