Chapter 2

Blaine ran into Aria at the police station entrance on the day of his release.

He wasn't nervous at all, and even whistled arrogantly at Aria.

Things took a turn the day after Blaine's release.

Aria produced a video.

The video clearly showed Blaine threatening Aria with a knife, forcing her to undress, and the entire process of him assaulting her.

This was undeniable evidence, an open-and-shut case of assault.

The police quickly moved to arrest Blaine.

During the second interrogation, Blaine started off cocky, but when he heard that he was going to be sentenced, he panicked.

He began to confess that he was instigated by someone else to commit the crime.

"Jaxon said whoever got Aria first would own the block after that."

"Who's Jaxon?"

"Jaxon, he's the boss of the block."

"One time we saw Aria eating noodles on a street of the block, and Jaxon said she was hot, so we made a bet."

The case should have ended here. No matter who he made a bet with, Blaine was the one who committed the crime.

But the weird thing is, shortly after Blaine went to jail, Jaxon died.

Car accident.

"That's quite normal, people die every day in this world."

Unexpectedly, my wife replied:

"Perhaps."

My wife continued to ask me:

"Who do you think is the victim in this situation?"

"Blaine?"

"Or Jaxon?"

Blaine went to prison.

Jaxon died.

I was surprised by my wife's perspective, how could the victims be those two?

"Shouldn't it be Aria?" I asked puzzled.

My wife smiled and said:

"Perhaps."

Then she asked me again:

"Would you install surveillance cameras in the bedroom?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I wouldn't put cameras in such a private space."

"But doesn't she live alone?"

"Just because someone lives alone means they need cameras in their room? Can't they be installed in the living room?"

"So you think Aria did this on purpose?"

"I don't know."

After this incident, Aria moved away, and no one has seen her since.

After finishing this story, it was getting late, and my wife told me to go to sleep.

But I felt my wife's story was nonsensical and not intriguing at all.

"Is this what you've been watching? It's so subpar, really a waste of my sleeping time."

"Are you tired?"

"What's wrong?""

"If you're not tired, let's continue."
