Chapter 10: Core Hive

Chapter 10: Core Hive

Of course, that was impossible—Alex Mercer hadn't even been there today.

It was clear that the military and Blackwatch couldn't distinguish between Type A and Type B Prototypes. Both could shapeshift and disguise themselves, and unless they appeared simultaneously, identifying the difference was practically impossible.

However, Alex Mercer was certain it was Chang Wei, unless there were other Prototypes he didn't know about.

"No matter if it's Chang Wei or not, I have to check it out," Alex Mercer said as he pulled up his hood and left the safe house.

What Alex Mercer didn't know was that Chang Wei never stayed in one place for long. He didn't have safe houses like Alex, nor did he need them. At this moment, he was roaming the infected zones, searching for Elizabeth Greene's lair.

Alex Mercer later found information about Elizabeth Greene on the laptop he had sent to his sister. But by then, he had already released Greene from the Gentek Tower. His betrayal by his ex-girlfriend had left him stabbed in the back. However, this misfortune turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as it greatly enhanced his abilities. This newfound power gave Alex the confidence to confront Chang Wei.

Otherwise, after witnessing Chang Wei's ferocious form and the terrifying strength that crushed Hunters with ease, Alex Mercer wouldn't have dared to seek him out so recklessly.

Chang Wei, on the other hand, had the advantage of knowing the storyline. However, he wasn't sure whether his presence might alter the plot. That uncertainty lingered until he noticed signs of infection at the stadium. Surrounding the area were Blackwatch soldiers and Marines guarding it. That was when he knew he had found the right place.

Elizabeth Greene! Found you.

Chang Wei craved the genetic points Elizabeth Greene possessed. Additionally, he coveted her ability to breed Hunters, Leader Hunters, and even Supreme Hunters.

Recently, Chang Wei had created a total of ten Ravager offspring, which had started to wear him out. After all, the Blacklight Virus wasn't specialized in reproduction—that was the domain of the original virus from Project Redlight.

These ten Ravager offspring had already caused significant chaos, spreading Chang Wei's Blacklight Virus far and wide. Now, a three-way war was unfolding: Redlight original virus creatures versus evolved super Blacklight Virus organisms versus the Marines and Blackwatch.

Alex Mercer wasn't involved. He lacked the ability to spread the virus, and even if he did, it wouldn't provoke hostility from the Redlight original virus creatures.

Chang Wei's super-evolved Blacklight Virus, on the other hand, was entirely different. Its complete evolution made it distinguishable and led to an inevitable conflict.

Chang Wei paid little attention to these events, keeping only minimal contact with his Ravagers. They didn't share senses with him. However, once he retrieved them, he could access their memories and learn what had transpired.

At the stadium, the infection wasn't as severe as it would later be when Alex Mercer arrived. Of course, this was merely a disguise. Internally, the site had already transformed into a Core Hive, where Leader Hunters were being incubated.

Supreme Hunters, or Super Hunters, were unique creations. Elizabeth Greene might not even realize she had the ability to produce them. The two Supreme Hunters seen in the story were, in fact, the same entity. A small Easter egg revealed this: after Alex Mercer left, a hand emerged from the pool of blood, proving the Supreme Hunter wasn't truly dead.

Captain C had likely been absorbed by the Supreme Hunter, who then impersonated him to collaborate with Alex Mercer.

As for why the Supreme Hunter had such intelligence immediately after birth, it was likely due to the Blacklight Virus's ability to absorb and inherit memories—a terrifyingly powerful trait.

This allowed the Supreme Hunter to learn how to disguise, hide, and even manipulate Alex Mercer.

This time, Chang Wei didn't opt for stealth or subterfuge. Instead, he boldly transformed into his Four-Armed Overlord form.

Unlike its initial state, Chang Wei's form had undergone numerous evolutions. The system had enhanced the Blacklight Virus significantly. The four iron fists, now of high density and immense energy, each packed a force exceeding that of a tank's main cannon. Each punch could obliterate a Hunter, smashing it to pieces without needing to sever its spine.

His body was coated with high-density, hardened Blacklight Virus and super muscles, drastically increasing his mass. Although only two meters tall, his body mass now rivaled that of a tank.

Boom!

Chang Wei punched through the hardened shell of the Core Hive. Before the Blacklight Virus could regenerate it, he charged inside.

Within moments, the breach was completely repaired. Although the concrete wall was missing, its defensive strength remained unaffected.

"Elizabeth Greene!!!"

As soon as Chang Wei entered, he roared loudly, smashing everything in sight. He was unstoppable and utterly destructive.

Meanwhile, his predatory Blacklight Virus spread outward, absorbing and assimilating other Blacklight Virus creations, converting them into genetic points.
