Chapter 77: Captain Werewolf
Chang Wei did not immediately head to South America, even though he knew that the Millennium Battalion's stronghold was located there.
Chang Wei had a decent understanding of the Major's character. After all, he had watched the anime over the course of a year, grinding through one episode at a time.
Of course, as someone who had also followed Bio-Booster Armor Guyver, Chang Wei was accustomed to the painstaking wait for high-quality episodic releases. If Guyver had maintained a similar release pace, he wouldn't have complained. Back then, his only wish was for the hospital owned by the "fatty" to go bankrupt, forcing him to draw manga to make ends meet.
Leaving aside the TV version, which even the author disliked, the OVA adaptation of Hellsing was the real masterpiece—funded entirely by the creator himself.
With each episode lasting over half an hour, the OVA was nothing short of a labor of love.
Because of this, Chang Wei was fairly familiar with the characters and settings of the series.
To be able to plan for years to kill Alucard, the Major was undoubtedly a meticulous and controlling individual.
Given that Schrödinger couldn't fully grasp Chang Wei's intentions, the Major would likely send someone else to investigate later.
Chang Wei wasn't sure if Schrödinger's mind-penetrating ability allowed him to access others' memories. Even if he could catch a glimpse of Chang Wei's "world-destroying" memories, it would be problematic. The Major might retreat into his shell, spending decades plotting to kill him—just as he had with Alucard.

Seras wanted to return home, but Chang Wei wouldn't allow it.
"You've seen vampires, and not just any vampires, but ones officially sanctioned by the government. If you return now, you'll either have to sign a confidentiality agreement, get brainwashed, or worse—become food for those vampires. Do you still want to go back?"
Chang Wei didn't try to persuade her directly; he just calmly stated the facts.
"Th-this can't be true, right?"
Seras turned pale at his words. Naturally timid, she was utterly terrified now. Her fear was so intense it felt like her very soul had left her body.
"So, what should we do now?" she stammered in panic.
While she might accept signing a confidentiality agreement or getting brainwashed, the thought of becoming vampire food was simply too much for her.
Given Britain's unique circumstances, Seras couldn't dismiss the possibility of such a fate.
Logically, she should trust her country rather than a foreigner like Chang Wei.
But having just experienced something so beyond comprehension, her mind was in turmoil. Instinctively, she trusted Chang Wei—the "human"—over the government-backed "vampires."
After all, vampires were monsters, and an innate sense of dread made it hard for her to side with them.
This was all part of a subtle psychological manipulation by Chang Wei. Without using any supernatural powers, he employed simple psychological tactics to plant fear and sway her decision.
Thus, Chang Wei didn't have to worry about Seras running away. She was too overwhelmed to figure out her next steps and saw Chang Wei as her only lifeline.
While she was still terrified of vampires, she wouldn't consider anything else.
The Hellsing Organization was undoubtedly searching for him now. Unconcerned, Chang Wei openly checked into a luxury hotel suite with Seras.
When Seras realized they'd be sharing a room, her face turned beet red, and steam almost visibly rose from her head, leaving Chang Wei amused.
In the Hellsing world, supernatural entities like fairies existed. Vampires, for instance, could perceive them—such as the spirits attached to Alucard's guns. Though grotesque in appearance, these spirits were highly functional.
In the original story, the spirit of Alucard's black gun, the Jackal, warned him in a dream that the gun's weight was off. Alucard dismissed the warning, only to be caught off guard later by a bomb hidden inside.
Meanwhile, Seras's comical reactions gradually normalized, blending seamlessly into this already bizarre world.
"Who will come first?" Chang Wei mused aloud. "The Millennium Battalion? Or the Hellsing Organization?"
Seated on the couch, he anticipated their arrival. His uninvited appearance as a demon hunter would undoubtedly disrupt the Major's plans, forcing him to adjust.
By entering the scene, he had effectively inserted himself into the storyline. The only way to avoid involvement would have been to leave both Britain and South America altogether—and definitely steer clear of Brazil.
"Hellsing might still be unaware of my stay here, thanks to Walter being their undercover agent."
It didn't matter who came first. For Chang Wei, it was all part of the game.
---
That night, Seras quickly fell asleep despite her chaotic thoughts. Like a caring parent, Chang Wei used telekinesis to pull up her scattered blanket.
Since he didn't require rest, he found himself bored while waiting. After all, it was the late 20th century—long before smartphones or gaming consoles became widely available.
He could only rely on his memories to pass the time. Just then, a towering figure appeared outside the floor-to-ceiling window.
Dressed in a tan military uniform and far larger than an average human, the figure's crimson monocle glinted ominously in the darkness.
The next moment, the window shattered as the figure lunged at lightning speed.
Chang Wei didn't flinch. The figure halted mid-attack, standing motionless before him.
"A werewolf... I didn't expect to see one," Chang Wei muttered, feigning surprise.
Unsure if Schrödinger was nearby, Chang Wei decided to put on a little show.
Why? To ensure the Major's plans progressed smoothly, only to sabotage them later. For the Major, this would be the ultimate torment—not death, but utter despair.
The werewolf was Captain Hans Günsche, the only true werewolf in the world.
Born a natural werewolf, Hans could freely transform into his human or wolf form, fighting with unparalleled skill. Just as Alucard was the ace of the Hellsing Organization and Alexander Anderson the ace of Section XIII, Captain Günsche was the Millennium Battalion's trump card.
His strength was unparalleled in the series. With sheer physical power, he could kick Alucard in half, a feat even Father Anderson couldn't accomplish.
His speed was lightning-fast, allowing him to leap effortlessly between skyscrapers, using walls to propel himself with unmatched agility.
Hans's incredible muscle strength let him endure the blast of a nearby missile without a scratch—a near point-blank explosion!
Moreover, his regenerative abilities, immunity to physical attacks via mist form, and transformations into full or partial werewolf forms made him a fearsome foe.
In his strongest giant wolf form, his speed and power reached terrifying heights.
Even Alucard struggled against him, requiring his River of Death ability to stand a chance. But even then, Hans maintained a high probability of victory.
