Chapter 85: The Monster from the East

Chapter 85: The Monster from the East

Luke Valentine confidently tracked Alucard's killing intent and moved in that direction.

The ability to sense killing intent was one of a vampire's innate powers. With it, even a sniper's attack could be evaded—unless, of course, the sniper was a machine, which naturally lacked killing intent.

But what he hadn't anticipated was that instead of encountering Alucard himself, he ran into someone not listed in any intelligence dossier—an obscure nobody who proved to be unexpectedly troublesome.

Impossible!

I'm a vampire created through advanced scientific technology. How could I possibly lose to this woman?!

Luke Valentine dodged Seras's shield charge, swiftly retracting his daggers, and squared off against her again.

His twin spears were his trump cards, yet they were evidently unable to penetrate Seras's bizarre shield. However, Luke quickly noticed that Seras seemed incapable of wielding both her shield and her clawed, blade-like arms simultaneously.

What kind of monster is she? Vampires don't possess weapons like these, do they?

Seras retracted her shield, staring at Luke Valentine, who wielded a dagger in one hand and a spear in the other.

In truth, she was just as shocked by her newfound power. Even a rifle, when fired at her shield, felt like nothing more than a gentle push.

"Who are you?" Luke Valentine asked.

"Me? I'm Seras Victoria!" she answered straightforwardly.

"I'm not asking for your name. I'm asking what you are. Are you a vampire?" Luke inquired, all the while analyzing strategies and searching for any weaknesses in Seras. Gathering information, after all, was always beneficial.

"I'm not a vampire. But honestly, I don't know what I am," Seras replied, her tone uncertain. She was clearly not a vampire, but her current form—combined with her immortality—made it impossible for even someone as naive as Seras to claim she was still human.

So, what am I?

"Why are you chatting with him? Just finish him off," Chang Wei's voice echoed in Seras's mind.

"Yes!" Seras immediately replied.

Luke Valentine was momentarily startled. What?

In the next moment, Seras's legs transformed into grasshopper-like appendages, propelling her forward with a powerful leap.

"Whoosh!"

The piercing sound of air being sliced reached Luke's ears, but before he could react, Seras had already decapitated him with a single strike. His head was still airborne when he realized what had happened, staring in shock at his now headless body standing in place.

Seras caught his severed head.

"Absorb him," Chang Wei commanded.

Acting on instinct, Seras allowed the biomass of the Blacklight Virus in her hands to surge forth, devouring and absorbing Luke Valentine's head.

Immediately, she felt her body undergo subtle changes. Her vision became sharper, her hearing more acute, and her strength seemingly enhanced.

"So this is a vampire's power?"

Seras realized what had happened—she must have consumed the vampire and inherited his abilities.

"What an intriguing performance," a voice suddenly interrupted.

Startled, Seras turned to find Alucard leaning against a wall, having arrived unnoticed during the commotion of their battle.

"Consuming vampires now, are we? It seems you've become quite the monster, Police Girl," Alucard remarked with evident amusement.

"I'm not a monster, Mr. Alucard," Seras protested, still somewhat intimidated by him. Despite having just slain a vampire, she couldn't help but feel a deep-seated fear in his presence.

"That's not something you can simply deny with words," Alucard retorted, shaking his head.

To consume a vampire and not become one, instead absorbing its power? The nature of Chang Wei's existence now seemed even more dubious. Was he really an exorcist?

The first time they met, this police girl had been just an ordinary human. Now, under Chang Wei's influence, she had become this powerful yet rational creature. Alucard's curiosity about Chang Wei only deepened.

"Mr. Chang Wei is calling me. Goodbye, Mr. Alucard," Seras quickly said before darting off.

Alucard made no move to stop her. It was evident that her transformation was incomplete, and she was still a novice. Moreover, she wasn't aligned with the intruders. Though Chang Wei's true intentions remained unclear, Alucard decided not to act rashly.

This attack had turned out to be a colossal anticlimax. Walter had deliberately allowed Jan Valentine to storm into the conference room, only for him to face the combined handgun firepower of the entire Round Table Council.

And with that, it was over.

Alucard reported on Seras's condition.

Learning that she had turned into a "monster," Integra became even more frustrated. This revelation indicated that Chang Wei was no ordinary exorcist. If he was one at all, he was far from conventional.

A monster from the East. Who knows what kind of creature he truly was? Their systems were entirely different, making it nearly impossible to reach any mutual understanding.

Unlike them, who relied on the Bible and a monotheistic faith, the East had countless systems, making it even harder to pinpoint answers.

"Why would he have Seras intervene to assist us?"

This was the point that Integra couldn't wrap her head around.

Was this his way of blatantly revealing his inhuman nature? Or was there some other message he was trying to convey?

Damn it, she hated riddlers. Why couldn't they speak plainly?

But Integra wasn't the only one feeling a headache. The Major on the other side was equally vexed. He realized that Chang Wei had a knack for meddling, inserting himself into situations everywhere. Though he hadn't personally appeared this time, Seras's intervention had made his presence felt.

Moreover, the abilities Seras displayed left the Major deeply unsettled.

Back during that era, Hitler's obsession with the occult had led them to scour the globe for mystical powers. There were even rumors that they had found the Ark of the Covenant. Naturally, this meant they had also explored the ancient and enigmatic East. But the results were... inconclusive.

Not to mention, the Major was in charge of vampire production and the werewolf battalion—fields that didn't overlap with the East.

While both factions grappled with headaches over Chang Wei, on his end:

Werewolf Captain: (._.)

Seras: w (°Д°)w

"Mr. Bluff, why are you staring at me like that?" Seras asked, flustered.

The Werewolf Captain was clearly waiting for Chang Wei to explain his thoughts, but Chang Wei wasn't about to indulge him.

"Why the hell don't you just speak up?!"

Unseen telekinesis delivered a sharp mental prod to the Werewolf Captain's head.

After a brief pause, the captain extended a massive hand, ruffling Seras's hair while she looked on in shock.
