Chapter 1

On my way home, I was kidnapped by my husband Elliot's enemie.

To force Elliot to show himself, the kidnapper slashed my face and pulled out my fingernails.

Unable to reach Elliot, he started live streaming my torture.

He repeatedly cut open my skin and even poured salt water on my wounds over and over, yet wouldn't let me die completely.

The police frantically searched for Elliot, but he had turned off his phone, busy celebrating an anniversary with his mistress.

The day I was rescued, he looked at my body covered in wounds and covered his mistress's eyes:

"Don't look at her, it's disgusting."

They were relieved the kidnapper was dead, thinking their plot would never be exposed.

But they didn't know that before dying, the kidnapper had given me all the evidence.

You two scumbags, prepare to die.

It's been three hours since I was kidnapped.

During these three hours, the kidnapper has called my husband Elliot countless times.

For the first few calls, Elliot answered, but the voice on the other end sounded extremely impatient.

"Is Melody asking you to play-act with her? Ask her if she's sick in the head. I'm busy right now, don't bother me!"

"If she really has been kidnapped, that would be great. You'd better kill her, otherwise stop calling me."

"This isn't over yet? I'm out celebrating an anniversary with my darling today, I don't have time to deal with you."

The kidnapper, frustrated and angry, made several calls in a row, only to hear a busy signal on the other end.

However, faced with the kidnapper's exasperation, my mind kept replaying Elliot's words from just now.

"I'm out celebrating an anniversary with my darling today."

"My darling."

"Darling."

If Neve is his darling, then who am I - the one who's been with him for five years and married for three?

Just as I was pondering this, I received a message from Neve on my phone.

"Melody, today is the two-year anniversary of Elliot and me being together. He insists on giving me a surprise."

"He knows I love the ocean, so he specifically booked this cruise. Let me show you the sea view, don't be angry~"

In the photo, the two of them embraced on the deck. Neve's hair was blown by the sea breeze, making her look stunningly beautiful.

And the tenderness overflowing in Elliot's eyes as he looked at her was something I haven't seen in many years.

Seeing my dazed expression, the kidnapper grabbed my hair, forcing me to look directly at him.

"It seems Elliot doesn't want to care about you, huh?"

"Melody, look at your half-dead appearance now. No wonder even your husband doesn't want to spare you a glance."

"But you've been married to him for so many years, he must still have some feelings for you, right?"

The kidnapper said while grinning maliciously, raising the knife in his hand and tracing it delicately across my face.

"Such a pretty face, it would be really heartbreaking if it got scarred, wouldn't it?"

"Elliot doesn't believe it, does he? How about I slash your face for him to see, then he'll have to believe it, right?"

"Don't worry, I'll be gentle......"

The moment the kidnapper finished speaking, he flicked his wrist, and I felt a sharp pain on my cheek.

His movements didn't stop, and the stinging sensation came in waves.

I don't know how long it had been, but my face had long since lost all feeling, while the smile on his face grew increasingly obvious.

The kidnapper raised his phone and took several photos of my face, his manic expression resembling someone admiring a work of art.

My entire body trembled as I inched backward on my bottom.

"Please, let me go, I'm begging you."

"Didn't you just hear? Elliot doesn't care about me at all, he won't do anything for me."

"Is it money you want? I'll give you money, I'll give you my bank card, I'll give you the PIN, I can give you as much as you want."

The kidnapper's gaze fixed on me, his expression full of mockery.

"Money? What use do I have for that stuff?"

"Today, what I want is your life, and Elliot's life."
