Chapter 2

In the afternoon, I went straight back to the company and submitted my resignation letter to my supervisor.

"Does Meadow know about your decision to resign?"

My supervisor was quite surprised by my resignation. After all, I had been the airline's top-performing flight attendant for seven consecutive years, and staying with the company would undoubtedly lead to a bright future.

I gave a bitter smile, "I'll tell her tonight, but I doubt she'll care."

"You two have been flying new routes together these past few years, winning the company's top awards together. Even the CEO personally attended your wedding three years ago. Everyone was so envious, but now..."

The manager sighed deeply, full of regret.

Yes, that was indeed a beautiful memory.

But memories are just memories, and we can never go back.

After submitting my resignation, I returned home. It was already past ten at night.

The house was exceptionally quiet, empty of people.

On my phone, a social media post from Eames popped up. He had specifically tagged me.

"Thanks to my beautiful mentor for staying by my side all afternoon. As a reward, I'm taking her to Jay's concert tomorrow~ Looking forward to it."

I knew that Meadow, who had said at noon she would be coming home, wouldn't be back.

This situation had occurred far too many times in the three years since our marriage. I opened my email after preparing a simple bowl of noodles.

Looking at the invitations from over a dozen airlines from different countries, my cursor landed directly on the one from Air France. Without much thought, I clicked to accept the invitation and booked a flight to Paris for two days later.

Five years ago, Meadow encountered the biggest accident of her career while flying to Paris. Since then, the word "Paris" had become taboo for her.

Not only did she stop flying there herself, but I hadn't flown there again either.

Meadow, I would go stay at Paris. I guess we'll never see each other again in this lifetime.
