Chapter 8

Three hours later, as the sky began to dim slightly, Meadow left the airport and drove home.

The moment she entered, she hung up her coat as usual, then noticed the mark left by the fallen picture frame behind the door.

Her gaze fell on the trash can nearby.

The shattered glass and our photo were still sitting in the garbage.

She slowly crouched down and retrieved the photograph from the bin.

Looking at the background in this picture, she suddenly remembered that it was taken eight years ago when she and I went to a concert together.

She also recalled the promise she had made to me at that concert eight years ago.

It seemed that ever since she took on Eames as her apprentice, she had never accompanied me to another concert. Perhaps it was from that moment on that she gradually began to drift away from me.

But even so, she couldn't understand why I would leave.

Because even when she had failed me, she would usually make up for it with gifts.
