The wealthy Upper East Side resident Nolan embarked on a week-long vacation with his wife and son, without placing a single phone call to me throughout their journey.
On the final day of their return, Nolan finally thought of me, but by then he couldn't reach my cell phone. At that moment, I had already arrived at the laboratory, commencing a closed research project.
Nolan glanced at his phone, somewhat bewildered, "Why isn't Vivienne answering her phone?"
"She's probably still working her part-time job. Didn't she mention finding two new tutoring positions? I guess she's just too busy!"
Nolan let out a sigh: "Have we been too harsh on her? When I think about Kael, and then look at her, at the same age, Vivienne really does have it tough."
Nolan's wife disagreed, "But Vivienne can stand on her own two feet. At her age, being able to support herself without us having to worry - you should find that comforting."
The woman nodded, feeling that this was indeed the case.
