Only If You Were A Man

Hazel was stunned for a moment, Wren break off the kiss and smiled. " Is it weird? ".She asked normally as if she didn't kiss a person a second ago.

Hazel nodded.

Her reaction was so cute from Wren's peripheral, she smiled and then reassured her. " Where am from it's normal to kiss, It's a gestures for missing a person, I feel like I will miss you after this ".

" I..I'm flattered. "

She was but a poor housewife with mediocre looks, someone like Wren isn't what she could afford to be closer with.

Seeing her worried face Wren was a little annoyed but she didn't show it on the face. " Besides we are out open and we are both women, what did that husband of your did to make you this timid, It's not like you are the one having an AFFAIR? "

The word AFFAIR was spoken in a very slow motion, she wanted Hazel to remember that she wasn't the one in the wrong, and it's the other way around.

" That's not it ". Hazel defended. " Do you do this often? With different people ". She then asked.

Wren smiled and moved closer, " If I say no wouldn't you ask me even more questions? ". Hazel was in loss of words, either answer was bound to stirr up her heart, she just kept looking at Wren without saying a thing.

Seeing her silent Wren snapped her fingers and chuckled. "I wanted to share something with you, Hazel," Wren began, her voice unusually soft, a hint of vulnerability in her tone. "Something I've never told anyone. Maybe you will learn a thing or two"

Hazel leaned closed their distance. her curiosity piqued. She felt honored, trusted. Wren's carefully cultivated aura of strength and composure rarely wavered, and the prospect of seeing a more vulnerable side was intriguing.

Wren paused, her gaze drifting towards the passing card as if gathering her thoughts. "When I was younger," she began, her voice a whisper, "I experienced… betrayal. A deep, devastating betrayal from someone I trusted unquestionably."

She turned back to Hazel, her eyes filled with a carefully crafted sadness. "It was someone close to me, someone I loved. They… they took advantage of my trust, they used me, they discarded me."

Hazel's heart ached for Wren. She could sense the pain in her voice, the lingering scars of a past trauma. "I'm so sorry, Wren," she murmured, reaching out to touch her hand.

Wren's fingers brushed against Hazel's, a fleeting, almost hesitant touch. "It changed me, Hazel," she continued, her voice trembling slightly. "It made me realize how fragile trust can be, how easily it can be broken."

She paused, taking a deep breath. "It also made me realize the importance of control. To never again be vulnerable, to never again be at the mercy of someone else's whims."

Hazel listened intently, her empathy growing with each word. She recognized the fear, the pain, the desperate need for control. It mirrored some of her own feelings about her marriage.

"That's why I do what I do," Wren explained, her voice gaining strength. "That's why I strive for power, for influence. Because I want to create a world where no one else has to experience the pain I went through."

" The sanctuary "

She looked at Hazel, her eyes filled with a desperate sincerity. "I want to protect people, Hazel. I want to shield them from the darkness, from the cruelty of the world. The evil is lurking everywhere and consuming us"

Hazel's heart was filled with admiration. Wren's story, her vulnerability, her noble intentions – it all resonated with her on a deep, emotional level. She saw Wren not just as a powerful figure, but as a wounded soul, a kindred spirit.

"You're amazing, Wren," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "You're so strong, so compassionate. So caring, I don't know what to say, am impressed"

Wren smiled, a soft, grateful smile. "Thank you, Hazel," she said. "Your understanding means the world to me."

She paused, her gaze lingering on Hazel's face. "You know, Hazel," she continued, her voice low and intimate, "I see a lot of myself in you. You're strong, but you're also vulnerable. You've been hurt, but you haven't given up."

Hazel felt a blush creep up her neck. Wren's words were like a warm caress, validating her feelings, acknowledging her pain.

"I think," Wren said, her voice barely a whisper, "we understand each other on a level that most people don't."

She reached out, gently cupping Hazel's hand in hers. "We've both experienced betrayal, Hazel. We both know what it's like to be hurt by someone we trusted."

Her fingers tightened slightly, her grip firm but gentle. "But we're not going to let that define us, are we?" she asked, her eyes searching Hazel's. "We're going to rise above it. We're going to become stronger, more resilient."

Hazel nodded, her eyes filled with tears. She felt a deep connection to Wren, a sense of shared pain and shared strength.

"I'm here for you, Hazel," Wren said, her voice filled with sincerity. "I'll always be here for you."

The words, spoken with such conviction, echoed in Hazel's heart. She felt a surge of gratitude, a sense of loyalty towards Wren. She trusted her, she believed in her, she needed her.

Wren's hands find their way to Hazel's waist. She hugged her tightly until she was out of breath, To hazel, she had never had anyone like her before, Wren was like a gift from god , she was thankful and wished to not go back to that hell called house again.

In her heart Hazel thought ' If only she were a man, and I married her instead of that monster, wouldn't my life be heaven?.'

" What are you thinking about? " Wren asked , she saw Hazel Pacing out and it made her uncomfortable, she was worried that she might be thinking about that good for nothing husband of hers again.

" Nothing, I just figured that. I have never talked so much with a person like I did today, time seems to fly so fast and I don't know what to do ".

Wren was pleased to hear that. " I don't know if you would like the idea but if you would like we can be friends, Let's get to know each other's better, how about that?".

" I don't know! I'll have to think about it"

As the walk suddenly Wren's phone rang, after hanging up her mood was awful, " I have to go ". She said disappointedly.

" It's okay. I also have to cook for my sons ". Hazel looked unwilling too.

" I'll drop you off then ".

" Am good. "

" You don't have a say in this ".

Wren grabbed her hand and threw her in the car.
