The atmosphere thickened as Alexia waited for an answer. The maids, visibly startled by her question, quickly excused themselves, leaving the room in hushed silence.
A flicker of something passed across Zeke’s face—so brief she almost missed it.
But in the next second, he was unreadable again. “Why do you ask?”
Alexia hesitated, then blurted out, “Because no normal human moves that fast. And no normal human has glowing eyes.”
Silence followed.
Tyler shifted uncomfortably, glancing between Zeke and Ramon. Meanwhile, Ramon exhaled, rubbing the bridge of his nose as if he had expected this conversation all along.
Zeke, however, only regarded her with a blank stare.“You saw his eyes?”
Alexia gripped her arms tightly and nodded. “They were red. Glowing red. And the way he moved—it wasn’t natural.” She took a steadying breath before meeting Zeke’s gaze. “And you—when you flung him like he weighed nothing—Zeke, that wasn’t normal either.”
His expression didn’t change.
