Chapter 1

After a sudden car accident, I pretended to have amnesia.

Little did I expect my husband and cousin to seize the opportunity and act as a married couple, passionately entangling on my bed.

Onlookers eagerly watched, applauding and teasing: "Briar must have been starving! Look at how he's ravishing our Selene."

"This is nothing! I remember when they were together before, Selene could barely walk straight any day. What's happening now is child's play!"

Red-faced with anger, I wanted an explanation from him, but he shoved me to the ground.

"If you weren't like a dead fish in bed, so uptight, would I be thinking about her all the time?"

I fell to the floor, blood seeping from beneath me.

My husband's eyes were filled with disgust when my cousin cast a glance at us. He covered her eyes, saying with revulsion, "Don't look. It will render bad luck."

Later, when he saw the miscarriage report from the hospital, his eyes turned red with tears.

When I received the pregnancy test results, I rushed home immediately.

I couldn't wait to share this wonderful news with Briar.

It would also be the perfect opportunity to tell him that I hadn't lost my memory after all.

But when I arrived home, I was stunned by what I saw.

My cousin, wearing a sexy red spaghetti strap dress, was straddling Briar's lap seductively.

Briar's breathing was heavy, his eyes burning with intense desire as he looked at her.

His fingers discreetly toyed with the hem of her dress, slipping underneath. She shivered slightly at his touch, nearly dropping the strawberry she was holding.

My cousin Selene gave him a flirtatious look. "How am I supposed to feed you strawberries if you keep doing that?"

"Use your mouth. It won't interfere," Briar replied in a husky voice, his gaze fixed on the woman enthralled by him.

Selene's expression was dazed, her cheeks flushed an unusual red as her breath grew heavier.

My heart sank to the pit of my stomach.

This marital home had been decorated bit by bit according to my preferences by Briar.

He had personally overseen all the renovations in the house, including the furniture selection.

He said he wanted to create a warm, cozy home for me.

But now, he was blatantly fooling around with another woman in this very house. Looking at Selene getting into the swing of things, someone nearby couldn't help but remind them, "Come on now, there are still outsiders like us around. You two should be more mindful. Or do you need us to give you some alone time to blow off some steam?"

"Yeah, don't worry about us. You guys were even wilder back in college, we're used to it. Even if you ditch us now to go do your thing, none of us would say a word."

"That's right. Besides, Melody's got amnesia now and thinks Briar is her brother-in-law. Even if she walks in on you two together, she won't think anything of it."

They had no idea my amnesia was fake.

That day after waking up from the car accident, seeing him rush to the hospital, I had a sudden thought to pretend I had amnesia and see how he would react.

So I casually said, "Brother-in-law, are you here to take me home?"

Briar was stunned for two seconds, then gave a deep "Mm-hmm."

He didn't deny it, tacitly accepting the title.

But if he had really cared about me, he would have asked the doctor and known I only had a mild concussion and wouldn't have amnesia at all.

Briar curved his lips into a smile, casually wrapping an arm around her waist as he said, "You guys quit the smart talk. Watch what you say, don't let anything slip to Melody."

Hearing those words, my stomach churned violently, making me feel nauseous. "You've already done it, so why be afraid of others finding out?" I said. I threw the keys in my hand onto the entryway, barely containing my fury.

Selene was the first to react, her hazy eyes gradually clearing. She pretended as if nothing had happened, saying, "Melody, why are you so angry? Men don't like women with such bad tempers, you know."

Hearing the provocation in her words, I laughed bitterly. "Then what kind of women do men like? Women like you who flaunt themselves?"

"Enough! What nonsense are you spouting?" Briar's face was full of displeasure, with anger suppressed in his clear voice. "Is that how you talk about your sister? Apologize to Selene right now!"
