Chapter 26 An Apology from the Su Family

Chapter Twenty-Six: An Apology from the Su Family

Su Zhengzhen felt a wave of frustration wash over him as he faced the barrage of insults.

"You know, Grandpa, I think you're panicking and looking for a cure in all the wrong places. When has Qin Fei ever been skilled in medicine? Who has ever heard of him treating anyone? Just because Shen Gong said so?"

As he spoke, Su Zhengzhen suddenly realized he had misspoken and quickly swallowed the rest of his words.

Noticing the tension, Su Zichang stepped in to mediate, "Your grandfather wants us to go, so let's hurry up; there's no need for so much chatter! Follow me!"

With that, the two quickly exited.

"Excuse me, young man, is my daughter really okay?" The woman looked anxiously at her watch; six minutes had already passed, and her daughter remained unconscious.

Qin Fei smiled reassuringly, "Auntie, there's no need to panic. If anything were to happen to your daughter, I would take full responsibility."

Just then, a car screeched to a halt in front of him, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"Stay in the car; I'll handle this!" Su Zichang said, fearing that Su Zhengzhen might say something foolish.

With a forced smile, he continued, "Qin Fei, look, I'm here to apologize. Besides, your grandfather has said it himself; he mistreated you before. If you can help him this time, he'll apologize to you in person!"

"No need," Qin Fei replied nonchalantly. "I'm not interested."

Su Zichang felt a surge of anger but, recalling the old master's words, didn't dare express it. Instead, he pressed on, "Qin Fei, do you expect your grandfather to come personally to invite you?"

Just then, Su Zichang's phone rang.

"See? Just as I said!" The caller was the old master.

After answering, Su Zichang handed the phone to Qin Fei, saying, "Your grandfather wants to speak with you."

Qin Fei glanced at the phone, saying, "I'm not really interested in hearing what he has to say."

Despite his words, Qin Fei didn't push the matter further.

Once he took the phone, he heard the old master's frail voice on the other end, "Qin Fei, it's been a long time since we last met. Perhaps you've truly changed a lot. I'd like to apologize to you, is that alright?"

Hearing the old man's weak tone, Qin Fei fell silent for a moment.

At that moment, Su Yu's voice came through the phone, "Qin Fei, if you can really treat Grandpa's illness, please come back."

Seeing this, Qin Fei felt a bit more inclined to respond, "Alright, I'll return shortly."

"Well? Can you come back with me?" Su Zichang asked with a forced smile.

Qin Fei, expressionless, replied, "Can't you see I have a patient here? Please wait over there!"

"You!" Su Zichang felt his anger boiling. "Which is more important, your grandfather's illness or this stranger's? Besides, it's just heatstroke, can't you find someone else to massage her?"

"In my eyes, all patients are the same," Qin Fei said coolly. "Now step aside."

Under the harsh sun, Su Zichang felt faint.

Yet he was afraid of offending Qin Fei, so he stayed put, enduring the discomfort.

"She's waking up!" someone in the crowd suddenly shouted.

Then the girl sat up, rubbing her head and asking, "What happened to me?"

The woman immediately breathed a sigh of relief and pointed at Qin Fei, saying, "You fainted from heatstroke, and this young man saved you. You should thank him!"

The girl, around Qin Fei's age, hesitated to call him "brother."

Moreover, she couldn't shake the feeling that Qin Fei didn't look like a good person.

"Hey, I feel like I recognize you," a middle-aged man in the crowd suddenly said.

"Yeah, I think I've seen you before; you're the one who jumped into Longmen River to save someone, right?" another person chimed in.

"Yes, yes, that's him! I happened to be there that day; he jumped into the river without hesitation!"

"Hero! Bro, can I get your autograph?"

The crowd erupted into excitement, and the girl on the ground looked astonished.

All this time, she had admired that "heroic young man" from a distance, never expecting he would be right in front of her today and even save her life!

"Thank you, brother! Can I have your contact information? I'd love to treat you to a meal to express my gratitude!" The girl's attitude shifted completely.

Qin Fei smiled lightly, "No need; I believe that even if I'm not around, the people here will surely extend a helping hand."

At his words, the crowd felt a bit embarrassed.

"Come on, young man, just give us your contact information. Otherwise, we'll feel bad," the woman said with a playful smile.

Qin Fei found it amusing but couldn't refuse outright, so he added the girl on WeChat.

"Let's go." He walked up to Su Zichang, his voice somewhat cold.

Su Zichang wiped the sweat from his forehead, feeling dizzy from the heat.

"Qin Fei, are you really a doctor? I'm feeling a bit faint; can you check on me?" Su Zichang asked as he walked toward the car.

Qin Fei didn't even glance at him, simply stating, "You're suffering from kidney deficiency; you've sweated so much, of course you'll feel lightheaded. Just buy some Liuwei Dihuang Pills when you get home."

Su Zichang nearly spat out a mouthful of blood, forcing a laugh but saying nothing more.

Su Zhengzhen sat in the back seat, staring at Qin Fei's back with intensity.

Earlier, Su Zichang hadn't caught what the onlookers were saying, but Su Zhengzhen heard every word clearly.

Qin Fei was the young man who had jumped off the bridge to save someone!

"How is this possible?" Su Zhengzhen was bewildered; was this really the same Qin Fei as before?

The car soon arrived at the Su family home.

Qin Fei, still holding the ginseng, entered the old master's room.

"Dad, we found him!" Su Zichang said hurriedly.

"Wait, I need to speak with Qin Fei first. You can wait," Su Ziping said, pulling Qin Fei aside. He frowned and said, "Little Fei, this isn't the time for bravado. Can you really cure this illness?"

Qin Fei smiled, "Dad, don't you believe Shen Gong? Besides, I wouldn't joke about someone's life."

Though he said this, Su Ziping still felt skeptical.

Qin Fei approached the old master's bed and took his pulse.

After a moment, he stood up and said, "The cancer cells have already spread across the entire surface of the lungs, clearly to the late stages. Why was this discovered so late?"

Qin Fei's tone was somewhat cold, making the old master feel a bit frightened.

He whispered, "A while back, I suddenly felt chest tightness and shortness of breath, accompanied by coughing. You know, as one ages, there are many little ailments, so I didn't pay much attention. But in recent days, I started coughing up blood, and I never expected—"

"Qin Fei, can you treat him? Why are you just stating the obvious?" Su Zhengzhen interrupted impatiently.

"Shut your mouth!" the old master shouted angrily.

Su Zhengzhen felt quite aggrieved, muttering under his breath, "I'm just speaking the truth."

"Little Fei, tell Grandpa honestly, can this illness be cured?" the old master asked tentatively.

Qin Fei glanced at him, his expression flat, and replied, "Yes."

Upon hearing this, the old master let out a sigh of relief and quickly said, "Little Fei, I admit my previous attitude was indeed too harsh. I apologize to you."

"I haven't finished speaking," Qin Fei shook his head. "It's already in the late stages. If you want to live, there's only one way: you must halt the spread of the cancer cells and then gradually recover to reduce their numbers."

"Isn't that just stating the obvious?" Su Zhengzhen snapped.

Not only Su Zhengzhen, but even Su Yu and the others couldn't help but shake their heads.

The reason cancer is so difficult to treat is due to its rapid reproduction, and medicine has yet to find suitable methods—this is why it remains a medical dilemma.

If an effective solution were found, cancer would no longer be terrifying.

"Little Fei, stop beating around the bush and treat your grandfather already," Su Ziping said with a wry smile.

Qin Fei nodded, "To treat this illness, I'll need some medicinal ingredients."

Turning to Su Zhengzhen, he said, "I'll write a prescription; please go to Baicaotang to get the medicine."
