The Breaking Point

Yumi's fingers brushed against the floating fragment of data. It flickered like a dying star, unstable, pulsing with an eerie light. The moment she made contact, the entire void shuddered.

Azrael's gaze snapped toward her.

"No."

A massive wave of force rippled through the fractured space, trying to tear her away, but Eli and Arjun were already moving.

Eli threw his full weight against Yumi, shoving her forward as the storm surged. "Do whatever you need to do! Now!"

Arjun, bracing against the chaos, shouted, "That fragment—it's a failsafe! The system never meant for the Echo to be fully unleashed. Break it, Yumi!"

But Azrael's form darkened, his shape stretching, warping. His voice was no longer singular but layered, an entire chorus of something beyond human.

"You don't understand what you are doing."

The void twisted violently, streams of pure data ripping through the space around them like razor-sharp currents. The last remains of the obelisk were dissolving, merging into Azrael's ever-growing form.

Yumi didn't have time to hesitate.

She slammed her palm against the fragment—

A blinding pulse exploded outward.

Everything froze.

The storm stopped mid-motion. Azrael's expanding form flickered, glitching as the energy holding everything together shuddered under the impact. A deep, cracking sound resonated through the space, like ice breaking under immense pressure.

Then—

A rupture.

The entire void fractured apart, as if the world itself had just shattered.

Azrael let out a sound that was neither a scream nor a roar but something deeper, something that vibrated through their very cores.

The Echo was collapsing.

Yumi was yanked backward as the space around them imploded, sucking in everything, unraveling Azrael's form piece by piece.

He reached for them, his expression unreadable. A moment of raw intensity.

"You could have been more."

Then he was gone.

The entire realm caved in.

Yumi, Eli, and Arjun were ripped out of the collapsing void, their bodies yanked through streams of spiraling light and darkness. Reality folded and snapped

—And then, with a violent crash, they were thrown back into the real world.
