A New Beginning

The world flickered violently, struggling to keep itself together. The sky above fractured like glass, deep veins of raw data pulsing through its cracks. The streets were warping beneath Yumi's feet, shifting between solid and intangible as the system spiraled out of control.

But Yumi wasn't focused on the collapsing world.

She was focused on the figure standing before them.

The static around him flickered, breaking apart just enough for his features to solidify.

Azrael.

Not the omnipotent, untouchable enforcer they had come to fear. No, this version of him looked human—almost too human. He wore a simple black coat, no longer adorned with the insignia of the Architect. His piercing, silver eyes lacked the mechanical glow they once held. He wasn't hovering above them like a god. He stood among them.

Eli reached for his sword. "No. No way. We just watched you—"

"Fall?" Azrael cut in, his voice eerily calm. "You did. And you were right." He spread his arms slightly, glancing around at the crumbling system. "I was the one holding this world together. Now that I'm gone…" He tilted his head. "It's free-falling."

Yumi narrowed her eyes. "Then why are you still here?"

Azrael chuckled softly. "Because I was never just a system construct. You already know that."

Arjun stiffened. "The Echo."

Azrael smiled at him. "You're sharper than you look."

Eli scoffed. "Yeah, yeah, we get it. You're some big secret experiment or whatever. But if you're here to gloat, we're kind of busy not dying right now."

Azrael didn't respond immediately. Instead, he turned his gaze upward, watching as the sky continued to split apart. "I told you before," he said. "I wanted you to unlock the Echo. I wanted you to break the system."

Yumi's fists clenched. "You wanted this chaos?"

"No." Azrael's voice was softer now, almost… tired. "I wanted change. And to get that, destruction was necessary."

Eli threw up his hands. "Yeah, well, congratulations. You got your destruction. Now what?"

Azrael exhaled slowly. "Now we rebuild."

Yumi frowned. "Rebuild?"

Azrael stepped closer. "The system is breaking apart, but it's not gone yet. The Echo wasn't just a fail-safe—it was a blueprint. A new foundation. We can reshape this world, but only if we act now."

Arjun's eyes flickered with understanding. "You're saying we can rewrite the system?"

Azrael nodded. "But we have to do it before the core collapses completely. Otherwise…" He gestured to the disintegrating city around them. "Everything will be erased. Permanently."

Yumi's mind raced. They had fought so hard to destroy the system, to bring down Azrael—but now, standing at the edge of oblivion, she realized the fight wasn't over.

They hadn't just torn down the old world.

They had the chance to build a new one.

She met Azrael's gaze. "What do we need to do?"

Azrael smiled.

"Follow me."
