Mike looked at the letter again, reading the words over and over. "So… we're just supposed to find these things left behind?" he muttered.
Rin shrugged. "I guess so. It sounds like the last person who lived here left us a treasure hunt."
Mike smirked. "Well, I do like treasure."
Scarlethia chirped, nudging Rin's cheek. She seemed excited about their new home.
The cabin wasn't too bad. It was old, sure, but it had everything they needed. There was a fireplace, a small kitchen, and even a second room that could be used for sleeping.
The place smelled like dust and old wood, but that was better than sleeping in the cold outside
Mike stretched his arms. "Alright! First things first—we need to clean this place up."
Rin sighed. "Yeah, yeah. But don't expect me to do all the work."
They spent the next few hours sweeping dust, clearing cobwebs, and throwing out anything broken. Rin found some old blankets in a chest, still in decent shape. Mike tested the chairs to make sure they wouldn't collapse under them. Scarlethia flew around, grabbing small objects with her claws and dropping them outside.
By the time they were done, the cabin felt less abandoned. It was starting to feel like theirs.
Mike flopped onto one of the chairs. "Okay, that's enough work for today."
Rin sat down across from him. "Agreed." So… what do you think this letter means? Do you think there's something hidden here?"
Mike pulled the letter out again, staring at the words. "I mean, it wouldn't hurt to look, right? If there's power to be found, I'd rather we get it before someone else does."
Rin nodded. "Yeah." But let's take it slow. No rushing into anything dangerous."
Mike smirked. "When have I ever rushed into danger?"
Rin gave him a look. "Do you want me to answer that?"
Mike laughed. "Fair enough."
Just then, Scarlethia chirped loudly and flapped her wings. She landed on a small rug in the corner and started clawing at it.
"What's up with her?" Mike asked.
Rin walked over and pulled the rug away. Underneath, there was a small trapdoor.
They both stared at it.
"Well," Mike said, standing up. "Looks like we found our first clue."
They both headed down the hatch; they were afraid, but if they were serious about finding the secrets of the world and uncovering the truths, they had to go down and check. At first, nothing seemed out of the ordinary except that there were all kinds of weapons hanging on the wall and some scattered on the floor. It looked like a workshop. Mike gazed at the table in front of him; there was a notebook. He walked closer and picked it up. As he scrolled through the pages, he was surprised to see that it belonged to the GREAT SAGE. It had his signature at the end.
"Hey, Rin, come look at this," Mike called out to Rin. She was also surprised, but Scarlet seemed happy they had discovered the notebook.
Mike put the notebook aside carefully as his attention was attracted to one of the weapons hanging on the wall. He walked closer to have a good look; he was looking at a scythe that was sleek, black, and edged with silver, its tip long and pointy.
"Wow, so beautiful," he muttered
He started to draw the scythe from its hanger. "Look at this, Rin; isn't it beautiful? " Mike asked.
"It is, but look at this," she replied as she held up two crescent-shaped daggers.,
"Haha! Not bad, but definitely not better than mine." He twirled the scythe dramatically
"Careful, Mike, remember where you are; you will get hurt."
